Stopped on a Sunday afternoon on our way home to Chicago. Hardee's mushroom Swiss burger is the best of all the fast food mushroom Swiss burgers. The sauce on the mushrooms is flavorful - almost like they sautéed them in the store. I used to add a dab of mayo to the sandwich - but not today. Delicious on its own. Hardee's is currently running a meal deal of two sandwiches, small fries and small drink - all for $5.99. Value conscious Rick ordered that, with discussion of saving the second sandwich for later. We got our drinks at the well stocked Coke fountain drink station - and sat down. Our cashier brought our meals out - and included a paper bag for the second sandwich. We didn't ask. She just did it. Great customer service! We were the only customers in the place - so we loved it when the employees started singing Proud Mary with the radio - followed by Prince. Yeah don't go here after 11pm. They claim their prices go up after 11pm. I paid almost $17 for a mushroom and Swiss meal that said it was $10 on the menu. That is ridiculous. False advertising on the menu. They need to change the price then. I'm gonna look into what I can do legally to see if they can do this while posting the wrong prices on their menu. Travelers beware This Hardee's just off the interstate 57/64 in Mount Vernon Il charges double after 11pm. They said there is a sign, I did not see one. It is the only fast-food open late night. Paying a little more ok I get it. But I ordered a $6.?? Sandwich they told me $14.?? so with tax that's about double. The person taking my order was pleasant, and seemed understand when I canceled my order. Can't comment on food did not get any. I feel there should be a big sign near were you order. We should've learned our lesson the last time we stopped at Hardee's. Our order took about 15 minutes and the only thing that was good were the nachos. Everything else was blah. I had the fish Sandwich and the Fillet-o-Fish at McDonald's is much better. There are so many good fast food restaurants at this exit so I'd skip this one. read more

Food service is...........slow. Don't waste your time coming here. Could have gotten a real meal at Applebees or Chilis at this pace.

No one waited on us until I walked aroma me so the people in back could see us. Finally a girl cam e out and took our order. I forgot my phone in the car and so on my trip to get it the same girl almost ran me over in a pickup speeding away. No ketchup or medium drink tops. No one appeared when I went back to get ketchup which was also missing. No salt either. Lots of people borrowing their bathroom and not buying food though. Maybe they need to close down if they are hurting. Update October 20. Decided maybe after months and a call to their district manager would improve this place. Stopped by and they told us they could only serve tacos because something was wrong with their grill. The 2 girls came from the back room to tell us as we waited for service. I will NEVER stop there again. This Hardees is a complete disgrace. We have had great experiences all over Southern Illinois. This one needs to be sold or closed down. Shameful! read more

I have been sad that there are no Hardee's in the northern Chicagoland area. It has been so long since I ate at a Hardee's (at least 13 years). Funny thing, I have been craving a Cinnamon 'n Raisin biscuit for the longest time. So when I had to drive to Mount Vernon to pick up my new puppy, I was ecstatic, yes ecstatic, that they had a Hardee's in town. So I went in for breakfast and ordered the Loaded Biscuit and Gravy Platter with 3 Cinnamon 'n Raisin biscuits. Time has a way of dulling your senses; what you liked at age 13 isn't the same at 27. But I tell you what, these cinnamon biscuits were exactly how I remembered them all those years ago. I nearly cried. The service here was great for a fast food place. I'm shocked to go into places where the employees don't have attitude. It so refreshing. I wish I didn't live 400 miles away or I would be here all the time. read more

The breakfast team at this Hardee's at this time in the morning is so over it's head with the 5 customers inside and 2 cars in the drive thru. It's causes me to lose faith in the ability of human intellect and problem solving. I truly don't know if they'll make it. As I watch the team flail around in it's pool of mediocrity it seems they truly have given up on life itself. It's obvious they are attempting to hold onto every bit they can as the manager meticulously hands out jelly packets as if she must inventory each one like each packet comes out of her individual salary. I stayed in a hotel a mile away, and got in late to Mt Vernon. I went to one restaurant and no one who worked there came to wait on me so I left and grabbed a couple burgers from this Hardee's. It was a 7 minute or so wait. I ate them at the hotel and realized quickly that the cook dumped salt all over both, and they were inedible. I had forgot that I stopped there months before and it was a terrible experience. Pass Mt Vernon as a destination to eat altogether if you are driving through, but definitely do not waste time or money at this Hardee's read more

Don't usually eat here since we don't have Hardees down in Tx. This restaurant was clean, smells good. Bathrooms were clean as well. Staff was nice and prompt. Same as I would expect any fast food place. Food is definitely better than McDs or BK. Great deals for your dollar too. read more

Yikes! First it took forever for anyone to wait on us. Nobody was in the restaurant but it took SO long to get our food. Wouldn't have been so bad if our food had actually been warm. Most of the food was luke-warm at best. We had ordered a small fry for one of the kids and a large fry for a parent and the littlest to share. When we asked the guy who brought our food why both fries looked small when we had ordered a large, he said "oh, I think she made them both even and gave you two mediums." ‍. And we heard the employees all arguing in the back. No fun! read more

I live in northern IL, so passing a Hardee's is a rare occasion. Passing a Hardee's and NOT stopping for a Frisco burger is even more rare! The bathrooms and eating area were clean, and the food was standard for any Hardees. read more

All I can say about this location is, It has went downhill in previous years. During lunch the service is really slow. So I would suggest staying away from this location for lunch. I've been here about 5 different times during lunch and all of those times they only had 2 employees working at the same time. So that is why I would stay away from this location at lunch time. I ordered chicken tenders and my group order burgers. My members in my group got their burgers and started eating on them. Was sitting there waiting for my chicken tenders. 10 minutes passed nothing, 30 minutes passed my group was done eating, still no chicken tenders. Finally when it was about 45 minutes I went up asking where my food was at and they had no idea where my food was at. They just looked at me and asked me didn't you get it when we brought the burgers out. I'm like no, finally after an entire hour they finally made my order up so I could eat it. I wasn't offered a discount for anything just a "sorry for your wait." So I will not be returning this to location anytime soon. read more

Lunch at this Hardee's Restaurant was a very positive experience. The staff was courteous and the food was delicious. I have never had a better burger and fries, not to mention the onion rings my sister ordered were scrumptious (I had to try one). I seldom have a Coke but the soda mixture was rich and not watery. This is the best Hardees I have ever been to. Although food delivery was not instantaneous like McDonald's, this food was much better (real food: Hardee's fries, burgers and onion rings and their famous biscuits, yum) the muck that they serve there, it was worth the small wait. Food was ok service was not good. It took 17 minutes for us to get our food. When I went to check on the hold up there it was sitting in the window. Several other people sat and waited a long time for their food as well. When I was leaving I told the couple next to us they should go to the counter to check on their food because there was some in the window. Sure enough it was theirs. Giving 2 stars because I went for dinner last night and got the normal decent burger and fry meal that they serve (1000% better than Mc Vomits). But the issue was the breakfast this morning. I travel quite often and try to stay away from the free hotel breakfast so I decided to give them a shot. Let me tell you, it was like they took all of the local hotels leftover breakfast and stuck it under a heat lamp for a few hours and then served it to us. It was amazingly bad. I feel like I paid 6 bucks for a cup of coffee considering I couldn't eat the food they served. Lesson learned. read more

Clean facilities to include the bathroom. Service was really slow and they didn't get my order correct. When you a burger it would be nice if they put the burger on the bun. Staff was good in correcting the issue but I won't be stopping here on my next trip to grab a quick bite. read more
