We had a delightful time getting to know Rowan and Reagan. The accomadations were period correct, space was very clean, breakfast was fresh and delicious and the location was close to all the historical sights that we came to see. Great historic home within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Rowan and Reagan, the new owners, are really making their mark in the B & B world. Engaged with us, answered questions, cooked a great breakfast (and had Dad come in and give us an overview of the area history - delightful surprise). Recommended shops, restaurants and things to see. Home is on a quiet street, comfortable and well maintained. Plenty of parking WiFi worked great can't tell you about TV never turned it on got involved in putting together a puzzle, If you love old houses with upgraded baths this is a must stay when in the area. read more

Hardeman House - Red Room - Bed & Breakfast Near Me - Nacogdoches, Texas

The Hardeman House is wonderfully located in Downtown Nac near the Fredonia Hotel. Unfortunately, there were lots of missteps during Hubby and I's stay. We were never given any instructions on check-in. When we arrived, there was an envelope with our name with a sign on the door that said to ring the bell. When no one arrived, we had to figure out that we needed to let ourselves in with the keys. The red room was nice, but the black furniture showed a lot of dust. The downstairs common area was very cluttered. Not the B&B's fault, but the nearby Fredonia Brewery's live music went on until well after 9p. The bed was comfortable and bathroom clean. Coffee was on the sideboard the next morning. A young couple was in the kitchen, but bearly acknowledged us. Not sure if they were the innkeepers. Breakfast was ok, but the food tasted like reheated leftovers. The bowl of fruit appeared old with browned apples and bananas... perhaps a little toss of lemon juice would have kept the fruit fresh. We left the B&B with the young lady picking up breakfast plates, but no acknowledgement. Not worth the almost $150.00. read more

Hmmm. Kinda mixed feelings about this place. One on hand, it's a pretty decent B&B in my opinion. It definitely has some attributes worth mentioning. Things we loved: Beautiful old, historic house in good location. No list of 37 thousand stupid rules that most B&Bs have Nice accommodations and very quiet!! (Stayed on a Tues/Wed so maybe that's why) Cute kitty-cats roam the property Nice wrap around porch with table & chairs Decent water pressure Refrigerator with complimentary water (nice touch) ================================= Things that could be slightly improved: Have an accessible microwave (next to the fridge would be perfect!!) Have a large trash can where we can dump our trash daily (trash cans in room are super TINY) Boiling kettle in room and/or single Keriug coffee maker (OR.., just have a functional coffee/tea self serve station)** while we were there the coffee station was down and in- op) Access to Extra pillows/blankets would be a very nice touch Things that I consider a deal breaker: We encountered a couple downstairs at one point in our stay and not sure if they are the owners or employees or what.... But they definitely left a bad impression. Not friendly or accommodating at all. In fact, borderline rude. Not cool personality traits if you happen to work in the hospitality business. That incident alone would prevent further stays on my part. So, in essence, it is a nice property with lots of potential to be excellent... but needs some more qualified day-to-day personnel on site in my opinion. ** and since I well understand that anyone can find something negative to say about anything... We were very pleased with our choice . We had never stayed at a B&B , so had no idea what to expect . Our room way very, quiet and sound proof , comfy bed . Wasn't fond of TV ROKU but , that's maybe cause we were not familiar with it . I like to watch local stations and local news. Shower was great, as far as rest of the house we didn't spend anytime there other than the dining room for breakfast , breakfast was good. Kim and her family were friendly. Kim & her family run an amazing bed & breakfast! This will be the only place I stay in Nac! I tagged along for my boyfriends work trip to just get away, and I had the best time! I waked to the square and had lunch did some shopping and was super close to everything! The bed was one of the most comfortable places I've ever slept! Typically I would of been missing my bed by the 2nd night, but nope! Those sheets and bedding she uses is truly amazing! The rooms are clean and refreshing! The bathroom is large and plenty of room to get ready! Now for the breakfast! Wow!! It was the best breakfast, those biscuits and I don't know what she puts in her eggs (I'm sure it's love with a little bit of butter) but it was perfect! She even will have breakfast with you, so it was nice to have the company in the morning! I truly can't say enough amazing things about Kim and her family, other than it was just perfect! read more

We were looking forward our stay here, but this place was awful. Barely could stand to stay there. It is severely cluttered. Even if the family lives there, there is no excuse to have the house so cluttered with junk everywhere. The house is supposed to be a landmark. We expected some time period furniture and items to admire and look at but all we saw was clutter and a junky mess. It is also very dusty in the room and throughout the house. We sneezed and tried not to stay in the house as much as possible. There were many dusty items and a layer of dust on some items that were placed up high in the room for decoration. Breakfast was presented nicely but super salty! We all tried to be polite and eat as much as possible, but we couldn't stomach any more and had to leave food on our plate. Everything but the fruit was so salty! We asked several times about our reservations, but never received an answer. The husband seemed friendly throughout our stay, but the wife did not seem to want to talk to us. She put us off and never replied. Very odd and not friendly at all. Very beautiful antique home near downtown and the university on a quiet neighborhood street. This B&B is also on the list of state contract hotels. It is much more pleasant than a generic hotel.
