Lovely Victorian home now serves as a B&B and is home to Pemberley's restaurant, that offers meals 4 days a week and afternoon Tea on Thursdays. This well appointed home has three dining rooms with inviting tables covered in linens, set with iridescent stemware and ornate utensils. I took two of my close girl friends to high tea. The tea was mediocre at best, and the food left much to be desired, especially the desserts. They did not disclose to me that it was going to be $45 per person before tax and gratuity. In my hometown, it is around $25 for high tea and a much better quality of food. The only reason this has three stars is that the decor and dishware were nice, but the waitress did complain as I was leaving that the tip wasn't enough. read more

My wife and I took an anniversary trip to Nacogdoches in hopes of seeing the Azaleas at the Ruby Mize Azalea Garden on the Stephen F. Austin university campus. We were disappointed that, in 2018, the second weekend in April was much too late to see them. Most (not all) of the blooms were fully dead but hanging on to the plant. But even with that, we still saw a LOT of beauty in the garden and enjoyed spending a couple of hours there. On this kind of trip we generally avoid standard hotels in favor of staying at a bed and breakfast. The Jone House is a BEAUTIFUL old home just 5-6 minutes from the town square and adjacent to a residential area where a number of equally beautiful historic homes can be seen on short walk. We stayed in the Genevieve's Room. It was beautiful, comfortable and quiet. Well, it should have been quiet; we had the entire house to ourselves for both nights (no onsite innkeeper at The Jones). There's a massive amount of parking and the porch is a large and beautiful place to relax. No onsite innkeeper also means no hot breakfast as we've often had at other B&Bs, but we knew that would be the case before we arrived. The coffee maker just outside the door was ready to brew each morning at the push a button. The kitchen was stocked with light breakfast fare (cereal, breakfast bars, milk, juice, etc). One morning muffins and bananas were provided and the other morning we were given vouchers worth $10/person for breakfast at Dolli's Diner, a 5-6 minute walk from the house in the town square. It was excellent. The historic Fredonia Hotel is across the street. It was remodeled in 2017 and they kept the classic mid-century theme intact. There's a higher end steak house at the Fredonia and the more moderately priced 1st City Cafe. We ate at 1st City. It was beautiful, our server could not have been more polite and the food was delicious. Is there anything I would have changed about our two days at The Jones? I can't think of a thing. read more

A great and reasonable house, with beautiful furnishings. We stayed there during spring break and the owner upgraded us to a suite for the same price ($85). Each room has a private bath. Everything was clean and comfortable. All the rooms were occupied the second night but it was still very quiet for being right downtown. The owners don't live on site, so you're on your own, but they have furnished the kitchen with all sorts of goodies and when you check in they have some restaurant recommendations. It's a beautiful building with plenty of comfy rooms to sit and read in (books everywhere) , several TVs, and clean, and quiet (i.e., no children). There are only a couple of bars and restaurants in walking distance, but Nacogdoches is easy to get around. We loved it and would definitely stay again! read more

My husband booked the Jones House this past weekend as a surprise weekend get away for our Wedding Anniversary. It was a wonderful surprise. The house was just beautiful. The house is fully furnished with antique furniture and decor. The kitchen was fully stocked with snacks and the owner was very nice. The house was very quiet. I don't think we were disturbed by anything. There are several places to eat and drink within walking distance. The town is just beautiful and full of history. I can't wait to come back again. read more
