Eek! Went back on Sunday and it was really awful this time around. Our lanky, too cool for school server left much to be desired. I totally understand that brunch was busy and there would be a wait for your food, but when several people got their food before us, even though he took their order after ours, that's a problem. So we got up left. He comes outside to say our food is ready and we're wrong, all those people sat BEFORE us. Try again sweetie. Went to DuMont for great food and even better service instead. I won't say don't go to Harefield Road, but I would say don't expect too much. Another awful tidbit- my boyfriends cup had lipstick on it. Nice bar, better brunches. Had a very tasty heuvos rancheros here and a nicely prepared bloody mary. I can't pin down the character of the place but its playful, but also mature. As other people have said, a more chill, less needlessly ironic crowd gathers here. Stopped by with my lady for a Saturday-night beverage and had a wholly pleasant experience: the bar was full but not crowded, seating was available, we could converse without yelling, and we got two cocktails (whisky sours) for $8 total (don't know if that's a fluke or just their prices--seeing that beers are $4-5 apiece it seems this may have been just a gesture of goodwill on the part of bartender). Found this place via yelp and thought it looked like a great deal. $12 for coffee or tea AND a bloody mary or mimosa with your meal! It seemed like a steal, I should have figured why before wasting my time there. Waited in the cold for 40 minutes, normal for brunch on a Sunday. I was in a party of 3 and so we got stuck sitting at a big table with another party of 3. Again, not a big deal. But what immediately bothered me was the hostess and other staff members who seemingly hated their job and every customer. This again is something I can deal with as long as the food is good.... It was not. CONS: -Overcooked poached eggs for all 3 of our meals -Extremely spicy bloody marys that had no sign of even a drop of vodka, none of us could finish ours because of the indigestion we all immediately got -Burnt homefries that everyone at the table could hear me trying to chew -The waitress who took our order and refilled everyone's coffee poured coffee into my tea where there was clearly a teabag in an empty cup. Just updating my review because i finally had the chance to try out their food. I went for the brunch menu this past sunday and the food was great! You recieve a drink choice with every entree ordered. the mimosa glasses were tiny but was made strong. The service was attentive and everyone looked happy to work there. I noticed they had a cute little backyard. they did close down the extra room in the back due to the construction so the place is now almost half its original size. will defintiely return to try their lunch/dinner menu. read more

Though good prices for brunch, the restaurant can work on customer service. My boyfriend and I was decided to stop by for brunch one day and was seated at the bar. Waited about 10 mins before the lady behind the bar was done speaking to her coworkers and came by to ask us for orders. When asked for coffee she directed us to the other end of the bar as coffee is "self service" and I see her pour 2 cups for another customer next to us. To make it worst, I ordered French toast, and not even half way through another wait staff came and took the syrup from me and gave it to a customer at another table without even asking me... maybe it was just a bad day. Fantastic all-inclusive brunch! Its so nice not to have to contemplate price while looking over the menu, because the same $12 gets you any entree, mimosa or bloody mary, and coffee or tea. On the one hand I love this bar. It's warm, inviting, and simple. They have wifi so when I get cabin fever I can come here to get work done. No bells and whistles, just a good neighborhood bar. But I HATE the fact they don't accept credit card. Nothing like being ready for another round and realizing you have no cash. After googling some options for brunch around my new neighborhood in Brooklyn I happened upon this place. I usually try to avoid brunch at all costs because of the ridiculous wait times and the either obnoxious or pretentious people that seem to enjoy the whole "brunch" scene. But I had a friend visiting from out of town and decided to suck it up and check this place out. It was really hot and humid out so by the time we got to Harefield we were soaking in sweat and disgusting. And like expected, there was a long wait. We found seats at the bar and waited about a good 35-40 minutes. Despite being very hungry and waiting for a good amount of time it was pleasant because of the attention and care that the owner showed us. He didn't forget about us (or any of his other patiently waiting customers) and sat us quickly as possible and apologized a couple times for the delay. Our waitress was very friendly and informative and we enjoyed what we ordered - I had the salmon benedict and the eggs were poached perfectly and the salmon wasn't too salty. The hash browns were great too with rosemary herb and even the fruit was good ( I hate it when they serve soggy, old mushy fruit). The price was great too at $12 including either coffee/tea AND mimosa/bloody mary. Also, the owner gave us a free round of drinks due to our wait, what a nice plus! I'll definitely return to this place. What more could you ask for - great food at a great price with friendly service. The owner truly cares about his customers and busses tables himself too. I am a fan of this place. Really, it's the wood interior that really does it for me. I have never come for food (but after checking the other reviews out, I most certainly will!), but I really think this place cannot be beat for a chill place to hang out and have a drink after work or at the start (or end) to a night. Last night, my boyfriend and I went here to meet a friend before going to a party in Williamsberg. We all got some brandy (cuz we are soooo fancy) and my boyfriend, who sometimes likes to be a pain in the ass, decided to give the bartender a little test. He happened to have two limes in his pocket. He gave the bartender the two limes and said, can you make me a drink with these and I will give you a huge tip. I completely would have not blamed the bartender if an explitive would have followed that request, but he was completely up for the challenge and ended up making an awesome keylime drink. We came on Saturday for brunch around 2:00 and had a great time. Upon arrival we were seated immediately and it was not crowded. Our waiter was very attentive to the point of bringing us an extra cup for our tea bags. This is my go-to brunch place these days. It is usually quite crowded, but this seems to be a testament to how delicious the food is. The three times I have gotten a drink there, I chose the bloody mary. If you like a good spicy brunch drink, this is for you. As for food, everything i have eaten here is delicious. Try the huevos rancheros, or any of the burgers. These are my favorites for weekend brunch, and honestly some of the best huevos i've had. Was looking for a brunch spot in the neighborhood and found this place via Yelp. There was a brief wait (not much more than five minutes-- it's a good-sized place so we did not have to wait long), and coffee was provided self-serve on the counter for those waiting, which was a nice touch. Plenty of bar seating for those waiting. A smiling, friendly waitress, and just $12 for brunch with coffee and a mimosa or bloody Mary: great place for brunch! The selections were mostly variations of egg dishes (huevos rancheros, eggs Benedict, omelette, eggs with smoked salmon, eggs any way with bacon) turkey creations (wrap, club) and burgers (beef, turkey, portabello mushroom). I opted for a sirloin burger and my friend had a turkey/avocado wrap -- both were excellent and arrived fresh (and with cooked items piping hot) with home fries and mixed field greens in a light vinaigrette (along with the previously mentioned beverages). Note if you're going there for the first time: they have one of those trendy bar signs without the name of the establishment on it. Recommended! read more

Nothing out of the ordinary, but it isn't lousy for any reason. The brunch is crowded but for all the right reasons. Came here to drink on Saturday for a birthday party. It's a fun, noisy bar with a nice amount of seating. If you come expecting nothing more than a busy spot with locals in it, you'll be fine. Once and never again. Came several years ago for brunch and a soccer game. Sat right by the kitchen on high and uncomfortable chairs. When the food finally came out mine and my partners was beyond bland. It was as if everything was cooked without any flavor, even the veggies were bland. Perhaps that day was a brain fart day on their part I never plan to find out. What I did enjoy and thought was quite comedic was the restaurant lack of at attentiveness. So picture an untouched plate of food on a table in a restaurant (as I mentioned the food was bland so I didn't touch it). You have the image? Now you'd expect someone to come by and ask, well, anything. Nope not one person. My partner finished what they could (they ate two pieces of ham). The busboy come by, places her plate on mine and puts them in the garbage bin they have.... Maybe now that the check is coming someone will ask something. Nope we paid for one meal and left. Yes we took it upon ourselves to give us great customer service. I gave my self a generous tip for being so accommodating. Overall I'd say there are a ton of restaurants around so this is a hard pass. read more

In the evenings, it's pretty low key and casual. I've always wondered why there weren't more people, but that's fine by me - I like that it's not overcrowded and gross. Brunch is awesome and probably what they're best known for. 12 bucks, lots of food, coffee and a delicious bloody Mary (I've never tried the mimosa). I usually order the harefield eggs which is salmon and poached eggs with a light creamy (and not drowning in) hollandaise sauce over a toasted English muffin. The fruit that it comes with is fresh and the potatoes are very flavorful (even a bit spicy!). This is overall a reliably delicious and tasty brunch for a great price. For 12$ you get an amazing huge plate, coffee, and a boozy breakfast drink of your choice. I got the Jurevis rancheros....so so so good. My boyfriend got the eggs Benedict and he loved it. Everything was wonderfully crispy, and cooked to perfection. I'd recommend arriving early because it gets filled quick. Harefield Road is a straightforward English style pub-- wooden floors, wooden bar. The playlist is good but never distracting, and there's a jukebox if you're hankering for a tune. The medium sized garden out back is a blessing when the weather's nice. Even on a Friday or Saturday night, this place is never crowded. The beer selection is really top notch, with a pint ranging from $4 to $7 dollars ($3 Red tail ale at happy hour is amazing). The menu rotates, with a few standbys including Lagunitas, the always dependable Red Tail Ale, and Bluepoint toasted lager. Haven't explored the cocktail options really, but they certainly have a great bourbon/whisky/scotch selection. If you're looking for a straight-ahead bar with good prices and a great ambiance, don't pass this up. read more
