This place has changed so much over the last four years--and while a lot can change in that time, it was still disappointing to see. I stopped by on a weekday around 3:00-4:00 p.m., right as happy hour was starting. According to their website, happy hour runs from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The main reason I came was for their frozen rosé, which I remembered being one of the best. It's definitely more of a sweet, refreshing drink than a strong one, but it still gives you a nice buzz. I was even willing to pay full price for it. I literally paid for an Uber just because I was craving that frozen drink. The first thing I noticed was that, despite it being broad daylight, there was a security guard at the door checking IDs and searching bags. That's their policy, and that's fine, but what really stood out was the condition of the entrance. The front door was cracked and held together with duct tape. It seemed odd to be so focused on security while basic maintenance appeared to be neglected. When I walked in, I was only the second customer in the entire bar besides the bartender. Unfortunately, I found out the frozen drink machines have been broken for months, so there were no frozen drinks available at all. The bartender mentioned that she has repeatedly told management the machines need to be repaired, but nothing has been done. Since that was the only reason I came, and nothing else on the menu really caught my interest, I decided not to stay. This place has changed dramatically since the COVID era. The atmosphere feels completely different. One of the things I used to enjoy was their hookah happy hour, which was around $25 with refills for about $10-$15, and they had a great selection of flavors. From what I've heard, they no longer offer hookah, and it sounds like they may not have had the proper license back then, which is concerning if true. Another thing I miss is the outdoor seating area they had during COVID. The indoor space is pretty small, but the outdoor setup made the bar feel much larger and created a much better atmosphere. It's disappointing that they didn't keep it because I think it really added to the experience and probably helped attract more customers. Sorry I didn't take any photos, but honestly, there wasn't much worth photographing. I came here for a game night with a Meet Up group. The spot is cute, a bit divey, but they have a good assortment of alcohol and enough space to host group events. They have a happy hour until 9pm. This place has a lot of mixed reviews so I was ready for anything. I came here last night for a Game Night meetup, and I will most DEFINITELY return. First of all, it's not divey at all in my opinion. And I wouldn't say it's "small" either! Plenty of space, a variety of seating choices and a TON of outdoor dining space as well. A word of caution, the kitchen opens at 8pm, and since I showed up with my folks after work, I had to tell my stomach to be patient and wait until I could order food. Also, amazingly, Happy Hour lasts until 9PM, which is UNHEARD of, and Happy Hour drink prices are as low as $6-7, EVEN for specialty drinks. I got the Sex on the Beach (per other reviewer recommendations) and I LOVED it. You could BARELY taste the liquor, but BOY, was it IN there. Even my sister, who initially declined, was sipping me and my mom's drinks by the end of the night. Once 8pm hit, I got my lemon pepper wings and fries and both were delicious! Fry-lovers, their fries pass inspection. (Note: Food is not part of the Happy Hour specials). The vibe the whole night was super friendly, and the bartender was AWESOME. Everyone was down-to-earth, non-pretentious, nothing shady, just here to have a good time. Also, the music selection was old-school Hip-Hop and RnB and it was on POINT. It was a little empty when we arrived around 6:30, but by 9pm the place got pretty packed. We played Scattergories with some peeps and had a great time. I came back on a Saturday night and surprisingly it was less packed. There was a comedy night and that was pretty great, it was held in the outside area of the restaurant while the inside still playing music. Thanks to Yelp, the reviews pointed us in this direction. The outdoor seating area was really cute, but we had to settle for takeout as we had a few more stops to make. We ordered jerk BBQ and mango sauced wings with Mac and cheese bites. The wings were awesome! The jerk BBQ sauce was spicy, but not overpowering, while the mango sauce was a little sweet, but definitely savory. I was underwhelmed with the Mac and cheese bites, but they were not bad. I came here on a Monday night to check out the Open Mic scene. The bar has a rustic feel to it that feels like a cross between a dive bar and a Manhattan bar. The drink choice here is definitely Manhattan scale. A lot of choice top shelf bottles on that shelf. I also tried the burger. This thing surprised me. You want to talk about "fresh". I finished half of it before dipping the other half in ketchup with each bite. And then you have the staff. Brandis, I think. As an inebriate, I've experienced a lot of bartenders. He's the kind that understands the "hospitality" aspect of the job, very inviting. The Comedy host is pretty hospitable himself, and I really enjoy the game show themed amateur comedy show. Some of the jokes are "weak" and "confusing", but many of the ones that land are pretty clever. The uptown fam wanted to try something new so we ended up here. We went in aware that Harlem Nights is known mainly for their entertainment but wanted to check out their Sunday Brunch. Upon arrival we were greeted straight away and instructed to sit anywhere. The bar area was completely full, which was a good sign, so we sat at a four top high-top. We were quickly given a paper menu by our host, I'll call him 'Jack' for reasons that will be apparent throughout this review. The menu listed a small variety of 'brunch' items, I say 'brunch' as their menu had none of the regular breakfast/lunch staples. It became quickly apparent that Jack, our host, now waiter, was the only one on the floor. Jack came back over and took our drink orders, prepared them and served them, then quickly took our food orders. Our food arrived, by Jack the host/bartender/waiter, within a decent amount of time. Which was impressive, but made sense as it was clear that the majority of the food items were frozen then microwaved. My order of spinach quiche had a decent cheese, spinach flavor around the edges but was cold in the middle. I didn't have the heart to send it back because it would've been cruel to see Jack continue to run around host, bartend and serve the now full venue. Homeboy had way too much to do by himself. He was evidently overwhelmed but he surprisingly kept it as pleasant as he could, hustling from bar to table to kitchen...phew! I was tired watching the man. As for everyone's food within my group there were no overwhelming pleasant comments. We all kept an open mind and in the end, we didn't let these things spoil our afternoon as we enjoyed the old school hip hop playing in the background, our overall company and our fun conversation, all things that helped to make our afternoon. Harlem Nights has their regulars so that hopefully should sustain them as their current food options certainly won't. My overall rating borders on 2.25 stars, more for the hardworking service and cool atmosphere and a lot less for the food. read more

When we first arrived there was an annoying lag in getting the bartender's attention and that put a serious damper on my time. There were two bartenders but they each stuck to their side of the bar and ignored the other. Weird. After a while some guy who probably overheard my gripes made sure to point her in my direction. After that, the party truly began. The live act was doing a bang up job despite the place having the basic acoustics of a cement room. Sound fell flat and if you wanted to speak with your company then stepping outside or yelling were the only options. DJ comes on between acts but the draw here is the live music. This place has potential because not many places in Harlem offer similar entertainment without a cover. The bathrooms and overall location are super clean. They happen to serve food-- although I would probably eat before coming here. ( Not sure if it was an off day for fried Mac n cheese balls and chicken nuggets.) Also, considering that THEY ARE OPEN TIL 4AM, one can start or end the evening here. It has everything going in it's favor once they work out a groove. There were so many things that they did right that I actually left in high spirits and look forward to returning (even if I may just have drinks at Hyacinth's first). read more

I talked to Claud, the owner, and I really like to vibe that he has created with wood decor and musical instruments throughout the bar. This bar is all about the music and it is great to have a solid go-to music venue/ bar. The 2/3 Train 135th St. stop is the closest subway stop but there is also access near the A or C Train too. My friends chose Harlem Nights to get some drinks after work. The place has a really good happy hour with mixed drinks $5, draft beers $4, wine $6 pretty much everything under $10!! (as of 2018) The bartender that night was super nice and courteous. The food was surprisingly good for bar food. I had a jerk chicken patty, honey mango wings, and sweet potato fries. The wings were good, but I didn't taste the mango. The chicken patty was on point and their BBQ side sauce is flavorful and I enjoyed dipping my wings and fries in it. There was also comedy going on and all the comedians were very funny. I learned they also have music nights and will definitely try that out as well. I highly recommend Harlem Nights if you are in the area and want a chill spot, with cheap drinks, good service, and decent food. read more

This is a cool spot in Harlem for good music and drinks. I went with my friends on a Saturday night and we found a little nook to sit in together. The bar is towards the center and a stage in the back corner. Downstairs are the restrooms. It was pretty crowded and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. We had drinks and there were lots to choose from. There was one I really liked with a strawberry creme flavor. It was smooth and tasty. I had a few. My friends enjoyed their drinks too. They have food available and they had some sort of stuffed meat pies with fries. They seemed to enjoy it. I didn't try it. I would return again for another visit. read more
