I've been visiting Harlem Zen for laser hair removal for a little over a year. I've been serviced by both Angela and Tracey. I haven't been super consistent with visits but even so, I've had wonderful results and I haven't had any skin issues after treatment. I have a very low pain tolerance, and they have both taken the time to have a conversation with me to distract me during my service. During my last treatment it was completed quickly with very little discomfort - one part of my chin even felt like it had numbing cream applied! There are different pain levels for lasers so be honest about your pain tolerance. They also have more than one laser option for those of us with melanin! Update*** Since writing the above review I was contacted by upper management regarding my negative experience. I must say first I was surprised as most companies nowadays seem to put positive customer service on the back burner. Well after my follow up conversation with manager Karlene, I am happy to say HarlemZen is not one of them! They actually do care that every customer is treated fairly, professionally and are happy with their total experience. After listening to my grievance Karlene immediately took action, and did not give up until the matter was satisfactorily resolved. Her tenacity and passion for the business she represented was very apparent. I hope more companies respond to their customers in the way she did for HarlemZen. After going to several people for laser hair removal this place is a keeper. Everyone that works here has amazing bed side manner and is very homey. If you're looking for decent customer service or at least have your calls answered, this may not be the place for you. In July or August, I called to ask a few questions before booking an appointment. Although they have three locations here in Atlanta, unfortunately there's only one phone number for all three. After speaking to the receptionist and reading the reviews, I decided I'd give them a try. I called several times and left voicemails to ask additional questions and to make an appointment, but no one answered and no one returned my calls. In late September, I happened to be in the South Fulton area and decided to stop by their Butner Road location during open hours. The door was locked and the lights were off. I thought it was weird since the sign on the door implied they were open. It was around 4:30 or 5:00pm and they should've been opened. I left and called them. The answering service answered and assured me they were open. I mentioned the door was locked and the lights were off so there was no way they were open. The answering service company had no idea they were closed. At that point, I became disgusted and frustrated. I told her I'd take my business elsewhere, no need for me to leave a message. For whatever reason, this place seems to lack customer service. They rarely answer calls, don't return calls and seemingly closes during their open business hours. Such a strange way to conduct business. Needless to say, regardless of their rave reviews, it's highly unlikely I'd recommend this place. read more

I found Harlem Zen through Yelp. I was looking to continue my laser hair removal treatments after relocating from the D.C. area. I called several spa's looking for one that specifically used the Candela laser (Candela® GentleYag Pro-U) because I wanted to continue using the same laser as my previous spa. Harlem Zen did, so I ended up scheduling a consultation. When I got there: The place was pretty easy to find. There are a few parking spaces in the front of the spa, but both times I've been there the spaces were taken. There is street parking available as well. The spa itself is smaller than I expected. When you walk in , the front desk is immediately to the left and there's a waiting area behind the front desk. There are two treatment rooms, which are surprisingly spacious. I was immediately greeted by Angela, with whom I had scheduled the consultation with. What can I say about Angela? She has such beautiful energy and answered all of my questions. She went over the package prices, what my goals are, and what Harlem Zen's laser treatment experience looks like. I was satisfied with my consultation and felt very confident with Angela's results and scheduled an appointment. I missed my appointment. I know, I had a business trip in Rhode Island and didn't schedule properly. But I had to reschedule for the next day to stay within my hair growth cycle. The Harlem Zen staff were very gracious about my no-show. Although, I don't recommend anyone doing it because you will be charged. So like I said, I went the following day. I had an appointment with Alexis. If I'm comparing my previous laser experience with this one, I'd have to say this experience was 100x better in terms of thoroughness and customer satisfaction. I never felt like they had removed all the hairs at my previous spa, the sessions would literally only be 5 minutes long from prep to aloe/sun screen application. With Alexis, my appointment took about a half hour from start to finish. I got the same area treated as I did in D.C. + half face. I'm very pleased with my results so far. I did have what looks to be a little burning from the precision laser? Not sure. But I have been wearing sunscreen and post 3-days the area is healing and I am very excited for my upcoming sessions! I hate that I even have to write this because I was really excited and looking forward to giving this place a try for laser hair removal because they have so many glowing reviews. I called to schedule an appointment a couple weeks ago but had questions about what type of laser service I should book online, so the young lady I spoke with suggested a complimentary virtual consultation where I could speak one on one with a technician before choosing. So she scheduled me for a 6:45pm consult. Everything went well up until the appointment, very friendly and good communication. They sent me reminders and even called me the day before to confirm my appointment time. Well, sadly my appointment came around and they were a no show. I stayed on the video call for 20 minutes and no one ever showed up nor contacted me regarding if there had been a change. I got concerned and called them several times and no one answered the phones. This was the Friday before the Memorial Day weekend, so I don't know if they just went home early or forgot or what. But honestly there's no excuse for not at least making an effort to follow up with me as to what happened. I also sent an email and received no response. Really weird, especially when they called me to confirm the appointment. I'm a very understanding person and realize things and life happen sometimes. And honestly had they made an attempt to follow up or respond to email/calls I would've still been just as eager to rebook. But this being the takeaway from my first impression really leaves me disappointed and I will look elsewhere for services.
