I came here for an art show, it was well organized and it was lovely walking through the gardens. I loved all of Harlow Gardens pots, if I had a green thumb I would've gone home with a lot of them! The plants all looked very healthy, I don't go to a lot of gardening stores so I can't speak on price but everything seemed very reasonable. there is also a very cute gift store, with lots of various items including Christmas, puzzles, local wares.. etc. A great place to walk around, and shop. read more

Harlow Gardens is such a beautiful nursery in town. It's just a joy to walk through - a little unexpected oasis. They have tons of plants, pots of all sizes, lots of really beautiful and unique yard art and decor, etc. The employees are very helpful and know what they're talking about for sure. Their yearly holiday market is absolutely one of the best in town and not to be skipped! The artisans curated for this market are amongst the very best we have here in Tucson. Harlow Gardens is an amazing resource with stellar customer service. Henry is top notch! Our family ordered two TEP shade trees from Harlow Gardens. After getting the email they were available we went to pick them up. We've driven by Harlow in the past, but never went inside. It looks a little small from the front, but it's like a Tardis and it's much bigger as you go in. Henry was super helpful in showing us where the desert willow trees were and even took time to help us choose the best looking ones. He also helped my wife find some additional plants in the clearance area. Henry had lots of tips and helpful knowledge for growing plants in our desert climate. My other half and I have been working on improving our patio so we took a ride to Harlow Gardens to look for inspiration and goods. Let me say this nursery is awesome. From the moment you drive up and park your eyes are filled with color and whimsy! There are succulents galore,all shapes and sizes, flowers and trees of all kinds. And the whole nursery is clean and well set up for a stroll through "the garden". I loved finding fragrant vines like Jasmine in various stages of growth and price points. Flowers, oh yes! Many that I've not seen carried in the home improvement stores as well as vegetables and fruit tree varieties also not carried elsewhere. The biggest take away was how healthy every plant, vine, bush, tree, flower or succulent was. So different from the other guys. Some items cost a bit more but you will see the difference from what the chains carry. Don't forget to feast your eyes on the garden accessories. I loved the colorful pieces of metalwork ,especially the VW bugs that are wall hangings and the wood and seaglass scupltures. Also check out their gift shop . I found some cute doormats and animal lover gifts. I found the perfect fern and succulents to take home If you need ideas to put your beautiful garden together stop here. read more

Found out that Harlow Gardens donated plants for the Children's Peace Garden at Manuel Herrera Jr. Park in the Southside, so I decided to stop in because of this. Their staff was really friendly and knowledgeable and made me genuinely feel like they were happy to help. They have some beautiful pieces from local artists but they are pricey. I really appreciate how they have the nursery organized. It makes it really easy to figure out where to go and find what you're looking for. They also have these great signs that tell you how much sun and water the plant needs and whether it's good for birds/butterflies/bees. The day I went they had some great salvias at really great prices; good for our region and good for our pollinators. I followed their staff member's instructions and my salvias are thriving so I'm really happy with my purchases and with having a place like Harlow's in Tucson! read more

My dad needed a little nature on his patio and I wanted him to get good quality plants that wouldn't cause him worry. Their really sweet and knowledgeable staff helped guide us to our best options. All the plants I saw were good quality and they transplanted very well. Wish they had a larger succulent selection, but I think that's more of a supply chain thing than how they stock. Pots are lovely but on the pricey side. However, everything else is lovely. So glad we got our plants here. read more

Harlow Gardens is a little bit of paradise on Pima. I half expected to spot little faeries flitting around between blooms, it's just that magical and gorgeous. I came in here looking for some guidance in potting some dwarf trees and veggies as well as some help in figuring out how to get some privacy plants along my back fence. I was quickly hooked up with Henry, Jr. - a wonderful man full of excitement about his profession. He asked a few questions about my yard, the direction it faces and my overall gardening experience. Even though it was just 15 minutes before closing time Henry was thorough and happy to help. His excitement and love of floral and fauna was infectious. I came back on Saturday morning after thinking about Henry's recommendations and bought a number of trees/plants. I love using this local nursery rather than hitting up Walmart, Home Depot or Lowes. Harlows offers classes as well and I'm anxious to check out their calendar. This place can make an inexperienced gardener like me feel like I too can have a little bit of paradise in my own yard. read more

Another one of my favorite places! This nursery has beautiful, high quality products. Harlow Gardens carries anything from your Annual to your basic pot. If you prefer fancy.......they've got that too! Staff are friendly and knowledgable. Layout of the nursery is easy to navigate, well signed and always clean. Gift shop is unique and carries a large assortment of gifts and decor. All of my purchases from here have been well worth the money. Harlow Gardens has a beautiful selection, but there are no bargains. Their products are sold at a premium. However, my biggest disappointment is that they partner with Tolson Irrigation. The fact that they associate with such an unethical company, is why I dropped their rating from 4 to 2 stars. We had 5 professional bonded irrigation companies bid on installing a new system for us. #1 Greg Tolson showed up without a mask, was not vaccinated and not interested in getting one. He blatantly ignores Covid protocols even though Pima County is still under a mask mandate. #2 They were the least flexible and took the longest to come out for an appointment by 3 weeks. He was supposed to show up between 9 - 12, but showed up around 8:15 am without so much as phone call; again inconsiderate & insensitive to customers. #3. His was the highest bid out of the 5 (by a long shot). The second highest bid came from a very high end landscape architect at $1,500 cheaper than Tolson! We won't support businesses who are Covid blind, and those who scam customers with "insult pricing". read more

I came to Harlow Gardens to get a climbing plant as a last-minute Father's Day gift - typically I go to Green Things but wanted to give somewhere closer to my house a try. They have a good selection and I was able to get a decent-sized cat's claw for a reasonable price. Some items were a little pricier than I'd want to pay but I am not sure their prices are any different than another local nursery. A staff member helped us select the healthiest-looking cat's claw, gave good advice on its care, and was very friendly. At the checkout they had some free plants that were an extra bonus! I'd recommend checking this place out if you're wanting to buy local and get plant care advice from people who know what they're doing! read more

Harlow Gardens is my favorite local nursery for buying annual flowers and plants for my container gardens. They always have healthy plants that are appropriate for Tucson, most of them in 4" pots (the best size for planting annuals). I find their prices to be comparable if not better than the other garden centers in town, and the plants to be better quality. We've been here several times to buy plants for our home and always enjoy coming here, even though we have to drive from Oro Valley. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, the selection is good but not overwhelming, and the plants are laid out spaciously on the grounds making it easy to wander around and browse. Checkout can sometimes be a little slow. If someone in front of you has some questions, you can wait for quite a while to pay for your purchases, but I understand that the people in front of you deserve service too. Perhaps they just need to open a 2nd checkout lane when they spot things slowing down. Not the best selection in town, so if you are looking for something really exotic you'll have to go elsewhere, but if you are looking for the more common plants, flowers, etc. you'll likely have a good experience finding it here. read more

I have a special fondness for Harlow's. I worked there in the early 80s and Bill Harlow was like a father to me. Now I am in my 50's and love going to Harlow's because it is like going to a botanical garden where everything is for sale! The staff is always friendly a d helpful, and there are people that STILL work there from when I was there so long ago. It speaks volumes to how much the people who own Harlow Gardens take care of their staff.
