Eggs Max is where it's at! This place has been cranking out the hits for decades. It hasn't changed a bit and it doesn't need to!!

I was very disappointed by the way this restaurant was handling their services during this pandemic. I went to go eat with my dad on a Sunday morning, and immediately noticed that this establishment was not taking ANY precautionary measures. More than half the staff had no masks on, whether it was waitresses breathing down on others while taking their orders, or just other staff running around the place with mouths wide open. Not to mention, the restaurant manager, himself, did not have a mask on. In addition, there was no social distancing between tables. Everyone was eating on top of each other. Knowing that there's a MASK MANDATE in Tempe right now, I find it absolutely disgusting that this restaurant felt like they were an exception. I'm sure I wasn't the only customer that was extremely uncomfortable. I will never be eating here again due to the immaturity of the staff. Okay... so the building looks like a dive or strip club from the street. Get over it if you are looking for excellent breakfast food. We just moved to the area from out of state and I immediately began the important task of searching for a great breakfast spot. I saw the reviews for Harlow's on Yelp and had to try it. I've eaten there twice in the last week and the food & service have been excellent. Day 1 I had chorizo & eggs which was amazing. Today I had eggs benedict and the hollandaise sause with fresh lemon was ridiculously good. If excellent breakfast food is what you're after, you need to give this place a shot. And let's be honest, the waitress outfits don't hurt the cause either ;-) read more

Ok let me start by saying I am a breakfast freak and relentlessly pursue new spots to eat breakfast. I love eating, finding, reviewing and searching out new breakfast spots. I did not find this on any website to begin with. I found this place on accident when i pulled into a parking lot to set my GPS. I was about to leave and looked up to find the parking lot was full of cars. This is always a good sign but I couldn't stop and eat right then so i made a note to come back. Character: This place has a ton of character and has been updated on the inside for some time but i really enjoy a place like this. I'm sure it has a ton of locals it's hard to know going ur first time but everyone was very friendly including the waitresses and hostess. Food: The food was good I had a breakfast burrito smothered with Pork Green Chile. The boy had a bunny pancake with an egg. It was good food that came very quick and hot. I wish i could go back, consistency is a big deal but its back to Vegas tomorrow. Coffee: I don't like to see the bottom of my coffee cup when I'm at breakfast and they were quick to refill when it got low and they were always walking around with a pot of coffee. Harlow's has the BEST biscuits! My eggs are ALWAYS over easy, NEVER over medium like I ordered them. I don't bother sending them back because the rest of my food will get cold, but a breakfast place should have no trouble cooking eggs properly. Make sure you order your hash browns well done. Trust me! They come out a little crispy crunchy that way, otherwise they're much softer. read more

I went to ASU in the late 1980's when there were very few breakfast places in Tempe and Harlow's was one of them. Still in its original location on University and Hardy, this restaurant has an awesome breakfast vibe! Yeah, it looks like the inside hasn't been remodeled since the day the business opened some 30 years ago but that's half the charm! It's very small inside and kind of cramped at times but still has a great atmosphere. There's a wait usually on Saturday or Sunday mornings. Great breakfast food (I like "The Ranger" the best)! . Great atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Extremely reasonably priced...and you can't beat the people-scenery. Seems like everyone who has breakfast there is attractive! Harlow's is a staple from my ASU days. Went back last week for the first time in almost a decade and they are still the best breakfast in the Valley. The biscuits and gravy, chipped beef, etc. are all very good. But go for the Mexican breakfasts on the menu. The huevos rancheros is the standard bearer, and possibly my favorite breakfast ever. The refried beans are like Grandma's. Go with poached eggs and put that tortilla to some good use. read more

I really wouldn't care that the waitresses appeared to be hired for how good they looked in their yoga pants had they been nice. Hollywood is not known for making amazing breakfast burritos - neither is Harlows - it's not a "mexican joint" afterall. However, the breakfast is good enough to remedy the morning munchies. I like the simple sandwiches too. Not a place for burgers. Not a place for steaks either. The price for the food is reasonable. Parking can be tough sometimes if the place is packed - small parking lot. Most people (men) appreciate the ambience for sure - the restaurant has made some wise choices for hiring current and post university female students who tend to smile well. As soon as we stepped through the crowded doorway, I was hooked. The word that sprang immediately to mind was 'kitsch', and I love it. But the more intensely I scrutinized the truckstop/mom and pop diner, the more impressed I became. This place is clean! I mean windowsills are spotless, no dust on the multitude of pictures on the wall, ceiling completely devoid of mystery splatters, even the carpet appeared freshly cleaned. The coffee was truly outstanding and our orders were taken quickly by a lovely and personable server. If there were a feel good variety of breakfast item missing, I couldn't tell. And when we received our repasts before we would have ever expected, we found the meals to be perfect in every protein and carb filled way. Folks, we have a winner! read more

Although I used to enjoy coming here the past 3 times have been terrible. The service is still good so I give a star for that. The food is still good so I'll give a star for that also. But, Im taking away a star for cleanliness. The place has really gone down in cleanliness. Just because your food is good and you have good looking servers doesn't mean your customers will continue to come back. These other areas are important as well. In the booth we sat in there was so much dust on the picture hanging on the wall I couldnt tell the color of the frame. And they have an awful odor coming out of their kitchen. I asked the server and a manager what the problems were and they told me they have a broken sewer pipe. What?? You have a broken pipe and you let your place smell like poop and don't care to fix it? It's not bad but I didn't think anything was incredibly outstanding. It's a good place to stop if you want breakfast that isn't too expensive and isn't in a regular chain but if you're looking for out-of-the world, this may not be it. read more

I've been here twice now for breakfast. The first time I had the huevos rancheros and I was very disappointed. The eggs I ordered as "over medium" we're very runny, and the breakfast of huevos rancheros just weren't my style. I understand everyone has their own version of what huevos rancheros should be so I didn't hold that against them and figured to give them another chance. My next visit I ordered the bacon, eggs (over medium), hash browns with a biscuit. They brought out my food and I was disappointed right away. The eggs were hard, and you could see on top one of the eggs the yolk had broke and was fried hard. The other egg had no yolk as well. The bacon was burnt and crumbly, and the biscuit was very dry and broke to pieces when I tried to cut and butter. The only half way decent item was the hash browns and they were dry as I had no yolk to mix with them. Two chances and both were fails, I won't be going back and instead will just hit the Denny's down the street. Sad that 's a better option. read more

if you don't know or love harlows....well then get on it. this place with it's casual morning after atmosphere and large menu is just what any hangover would order. greasy, cheap, tasty, and fast. the wait staff are always friendly and one top of their fast moving game. it's good for groups, and for the unshowered. parking is always @ a premium so beware, and the wait can sometimes take 30 minutes. but that's because it's a good overall dinner in the classic sense. go .. enjoy. fill up on dinner coffee.... and take a nap. read more

Went to breakfast this morning with my husband. The parking was fine, there seemed to be plenty. When you walk in, it is a quaint, rustic restaurant. When we go to have breakfast out, we really want a good cup of coffee. The coffee came and it was very weak. When we mentioned this to the server she asked if we wanted a cup of the "double" coffee. We said if it was stronger than yes. It was not much stronger than the weak cup. Where the coffee was not exactly desirable the food was! They make their own Chirizo and Salsa. My husband had the Eggs Maximilian with Chorizo added and was sweating from the heat of the food. My food was the traditional eggs and bacon. 5 years ago I moved away, but I still manage to get back to Tempe once a year to see family and every time I visit I must stop by Harlow's with my dad! It's our tradition, I grew up going here and I continue to go every time I'm in town. I love the service and the food is beyond amazing in my opinion. I love their french toast and eggs benedict!
