I recently had both my wedding ceremony and reception at the Harlyne J. Norris Pavilion, and it was truly the perfect venue. The building is gorgeous on its own, and we loved having the outdoor green space for our ceremony while hosting cocktail hour and the reception inside with completely different setups and vibes that all flowed together seamlessly. We had about 150 guests, and the space accommodated everyone beautifully -- never crowded, never tight, and the dance floor stayed full all night without feeling cramped. The Pavilion gives you so much flexibility to customize, but also includes beautiful built‑in elements that make the space feel elevated without needing much. We added a white dance floor, a mirror ball, and a custom gobo, and the process was incredibly easy. Their onsite kitchen and preferred caterer, Colette's, made it simple to serve a fully gluten‑free menu, and we received so many compliments from guests. The rental process was effortless thanks to Dani, their rental coordinator, who absolutely slayed. She paid such close attention to detail, reminded me of everything I needed throughout the planning process, and put together clear diagrams that made setup day a breeze. The staff was kind, organized, and genuinely invested in making our wedding perfect. We visited about a dozen venues while looking for the right location for our daughter's bat mitzvah, and the Norris Pavilion immediately stood out as the clear choice. The space offers a lot of flexibility with multiple rooms and layout options. It's very roomy. Our ~135 guests were comfortable throughout dinner, dancing, and mingling. Dani was wonderful from start to finish. She supported us for months during the planning process with professionalism and knowledge, and she went the extra mile to assist during the event. Her help was thoughtful and made a real difference. The Norris Pavilion is a stunning venue, and we would love to celebrate there again in the future. read more

Had our wedding here in November of 2023. Beautiful venue with ample parking and large enough for on-site ceremony, cocktail reception and dinner reception. We used an outside catering company and even with the outside catering fee, the venue is super affordable and accommodated all of our needs. Tables, chairs, flatware, china and glassware are included! The lighting was beautiful and we were more than happy with the pavilion. The little details like built-in bar, customized marquee, dressing rooms, personalized gobo, and front fountain were just icing on the cake. Linda was our on site contact and she was an absolute joy to work with. My original wedding venue fell through 54 days before my wedding date and Linda showed us the venue and we booked right away. She is knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make our event exactly what we wanted. Linda was really excited about all the details that we wanted like Korean drumming during cocktail hour, stringing wedding wishes from our guests as decorations, acapella singing during ceremony and for the father daughter dance. She found creative ways for us to incorporate all the details and helped us make it happen instead of discouraging us like other venue managers did at other venues we looked at. Very few have even heard of Harlyne J. Norris but for those who are contemplating whether or not to use this facility let me give you some insight. PROS You get the place all to yourself. There is lots of ice available. The dishwasher is gigantic. There are two dance floors to use. The ballroom is big. Guest parking is across the street (ample). You get a marquee with your name on it. You get chairs, tables, plates, cups, and utensils to use. The water fountain is pretty at night. The dance floor is smooth and even. I love the address, it sounds regal: Rolling Hills Estates. CONS You need to clean up the trash, sweep and mop the floor after the event, and if you don't leave within the agreed time, you will be charged extra. There is only seating in the ballroom area so make sure to put chairs out front in the lobby area, too. You need to do most of the work and be very hands on. If you use a catering company that is not on their list you will be charged about a grand. You need to remove the linen, centerpieces, clean the carpets, and get all dishes washed before leaving. If you invite a lot of people some of the guests will be in a different section of the room and they won't be able to see or hear you. (That was a huge no-no so don't invite too many people.) You have to pay for security guards. (Don't put gifts: money and checks upfront.) Read the contract thoroughly. The place can be very intimate/cozy if you invite a small group and use soft battery operated candles. Be courteous and clean up. It is a dance studio. The rental price in 2019 is around $6k but if you add lights, sound, etc, it will be more. Overall, It's a nice place to rent and you get to have the place all to yourself which was a huge plus. Hidden gem! Finding a wedding venue is a long and stressful process, but we were so lucky to book Norris Pavilion for our wedding. The venue comes with almost everything! - Huge parking lot - A really nice bar area - All dinnerware and glassware included - Spacious dining area for the reception - Dance floor - A terrace area for the ceremony - And much more... When we booked Norris Pavilion, we worked with Ebony. When she left Norris 4 months prior to our wedding, the transition to Ashley was smooth. There were some very minor hiccups during on wedding day, but all those were resolved very quickly by the on-site Norris staff. Overall, we're so glad to have our special day at Norris Pavilion. We rented Norris Pavilion for our wedding on 11/5/22 and it was everything we hoped it would be! The venue itself is very spacious especially for our wedding of 100 people and the base decor was tasteful and elegant. The front lobby served as a cocktail hour with their bar area conveniently stationed there. They also have a terrace out back which provided a nice change of scenery with its charming string lights. In my opinion, the best aspect of the venue is the availability of lights and sound for the ballroom. They have many packages to choose from so you can add-on options to your heart's content. Parking was also a breeze, they had a large lot to accommodate our guests. We worked with Linda and she did an amazing helping us coordinate everything from room layouts to light color combinations. She really helped us iron out all the finer details for big day, and luckily we had no issues day of. All in all, if you're looking for beautiful venue space for your wedding, look no further. We rented Norris Pavillion for a community event and it was a blast! Dance floor, stage, dining area, the terrace area everything was spacious and perfect. Bar area is super cute! We used the board room as child care room which worked great for our guests with children. Linda is amazing to work with, very communicative, guided and advised us on our first big event. First off I want to start my review by saying THANK YOU so much to the director of rentals Lara Avengoza! She was super amazing & helpful when it came time to having my wedding at the Norris Pavilion. I had my wedding here at the Norris on 6/24/17. So this review is kind of over due! Lol I will say that if your planning on booking your event at the Norris pavilion definitely do not hesitate because the dates will get booked! And I know first hand because it happened to me. However the only reason why my husband & I waited to book was because once you pay your security deposit for the venue, the complete amount is due within 14 days. So keep that in mind! I wish we would have known this little bit of information because then we could have had the money ready & had our wedding on the original date we wanted! :( But it's okay because our wedding was still beautiful! It's such a gorgeous venue and everything comes together so beautiful the day of your event that you do not even notice the burgundy walls! (Haha) Yes the ball room has burgundy walls. But again you can't even tell the day of the event. And I only mention them because the walls were almost a deal breaker for me when we went to look at the venue for a "potential" location for my wedding. I really didn't like them but my husband reassured me that with lighting and decorations we wouldn't even notice the color of the walls and he was totally right! Because I didn't! Lol From the very beginning the director of rentals Lara is super involved she makes sure to follow up with you every step of the way! She is constantly sending emails, checking in on you and her emails are actually very helpful, clearly written, and very detailed. That way you can understand everything that is going on. I really loved her she was awesome. Definitely helps a bride out knowing your venue ppl have everything under control. Not to mention she is extremely patient. Some things we loved about the venue were the fact that we are allowed to bring our own alcohol,but please advise your catering company about the open bar so they can be on top of any messes at the venue. Side note if you are planning on stocking up on alcohol for your event know that they do not allow you to store anything there the day before. Everything is allowed inside the venue at the start of your 8 hr block out time. So just know someone will have to take your drinks to the venue for you if it is a wedding. Because I got married at 1pm. (off site) But we weren't allowed in the venue until 3pm because our reception began at 5pm there at the Norris with 2 hr set up time. (Starting at 3pm) Also the set up of the venue very spacious & has plenty of space for you to have your photo booth, candy bar, and even a second bar anywhere in the venue if you choose to! The parking: there are 14 personal parking spots at the round about if the venue that they allow you to use the day of your event all of the cars parking there just need a little sign for security to know. Other then that there is PLENTY of parking directly across the street at the PV promenade. The food: the venue does prefer you to use one of they're catering companies just to make the day run smoother. Because the catering companies that they offer are familiar with the rules of the venue and if you decide to go with someone not from they're list there is an additional fee. ($1,000) I believe. We did go with Lisa's Bon appetite not completely satisfied with them but totally had NOTHING to do with the Norris. Overall I was extremely happy with my decision on having my wedding here. All of the staff are very pleasant & helpful. And my guest had an amazing time!!! Just a little side excitement they have a marquee on the side of the building that they personalize for you if you'd like the day of your event! It's pretty neat! I had my wedding here in November 2015. We were on a budget and looking for a large venue that could handle our 300 person guest list. We had contacted a couple of places and the prices were astronomical. I wanted a very DIY wedding but most of the places we looked at had very strict rules about vendors, alcohol, etc. We absolutely fell in love with the venue the second we stepped inside. The whole facility is stunning AS IS. Which was great because we didn't really want to afford a ton of decorations. Tables and chairs were all included in the flat fee. They have options for fancy lighting, disco ball, sound system. You can also rent different chairs, lounge furniture etc from third party vendors. We we opted for the basics that were already included and were completely happy with the elegance. There is plenty of parking and we were able to have the ceremony and reception both on site. Photos were also done on site and were beautiful! No need to travel for bridal party photos! The venue is very lax on the vendors which you use. We brought in our our caterer ($1000 fee for outside caterer) and a couple of friend's friends served as bartenders. Since we were supplying all the alcohol and not selling it, they said we didn't need an alcohol license. Additionally the venue provided security - also included in the flat fee! The flat fee includes a set amount of hours. We ended up purchasing a couple of extra hours to set up for $250/hr. Lastly, this was was awesome because we could have music on until midnight! We worked with Paige throughout the planning process. She was absolutely wonderful! Sweet, patient, quick to respond to emails. The day of, the staff was wonderful. We had a blast and all of the guests gushed about beautiful the venue was and how "expensive" it must have been! read more

When I first found this place on The Knot I could not believe I have never heard of the Norris. I was born and raised in the area so for me and several friends to never had been there made me a little worried until I scheduled a site visit. After the site visit I knew we had to have our reception here. It was close to home yet secluded, free parking across the way for all of our guests and was spacious enough to fit all 250 of our guests so I knew we had to book the Norris. Ebony was always very responsive, on top of everything and a pleasure to work with. Our reception exceeded my expectations. All of our guests still talk about the venue to this day. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to throw a large event. read more

I actually DID have my wedding reception here in 2003. I've told friends that it reminded me of a Ritz-Carlton ballroom...minus the hotel! :) Tricia mentioned that you "have to" find a caterer. We were specifically looking at places where you "got to" bring your own caterer, so that was the exact sort of "hassle" that we were looking for! The Norris allowed us to pick one from their list of 6. We went with Critic's Choice, and they were great. In fact, we just hired bartenders through them and supplied all of our own booze. No bullshit $6 per drink charge for us! Best of all, we got to keep all the leftovers! Over calculated on the gin a bit...I think we're still working on the Tanqueray! I will admit that parking across the street is a valid, but not insurmountable inconvenience considering all of the other pluses. I've also been here for other events. The best part is that you can choose from a list of caterers or bring an outside one. We wanted a place that was beautiful and could allow us to bring our own food and booze. This was the perfect place. The inside is beautiful. It is a performing arts center so you have a real theater in your venue. i.e. they have an endless amount of lighting colors to choose from and also a disco ball. The price included all tables, chairs, dishes, glasses, huge ice machine, and it is very classy inside....even granite bathrooms. If you need a venue for anything from a party to a wedding....DO NOT cheat yourself by failing to consider the Norris Pavilion. They are unheard of because they are a non-profit and cannot advertise. read more

She made the entire process simple and enjoyable. Definitely the perfect venue for our evening cocktail hour and reception to our wedding! We had the pleasure of working with Ebony at the Norris Pavillion for our March 2018 wedding. Ebony was extremely helpful with all the set up/layout of how my husband and I wanted our reception. She was so easy to work with, especially when she seemlessly transitioned into this role when we were working with a previous employee. She responded to all of our emails in a timely manner and was always available to meet in person, which made communication much easier. She was great! The venue itself is beautiful and very customizable to your taste. They have sliders to an outdoor space where you can keep open to make the ballroom feel even bigger, and can create great flow for the reception. Their lighting options are perfect! This helped us limit decorations on our end since the venue provided so options for that, and could help make the space look like a wedding reception. We had about 140 people attend, and it was definitely large enough for people to move around and just enjoy the space. As mentioned, for the Norris Pavillion, it is very customizable. This means a lot of the items needed are a la carte. Especially for rentals. Meaning, you have to find rentals for linen/napkins, other chairs (if you dont like what they offer), etc; additional bars for the outdoor space IF you need an extra one. Most venues we saw were a la carte, so we didnt mind, but a good thing to keep in mind. All in all, I highly recommend this venue, and would definitely use it again for a personal party. I just got married on Sunday 5/25/14! Our guest list went from 100 to 250 (ended up with 150) QUICK so we needed to find venues that could accommodate. Unfortunately, there aren't too many places other than country clubs and hotels...which isn't really our scene. I'm very happy with the way things turned out though! After some thorough research and sight visits, we decided to have our ceremony at the South Coast Botanic Garden and the reception at the Norris Pavilion. We would've had our ceremony at the Pavilion as well if we wanted convenience (nice back patio), but my (now) husband and I are outdoors people and really wanted to have photos in either a garden or at the beach. The price for the ceremony was comparable too (I think $500-700 which isn't much in the whole wedding scheme of things) so we decided the 7 min drive was worth it for better photos. Thank goodness we had PERFECT weather! The Pavilion is located next to a fire station which could be annoying, but I don't think there were any emergencies during the reception so it didn't make a difference for us. Parking is across the street which was confusing for some guests, BUT at least it was PLENTIFUL and FREE. The places we originally looked at charged for valet...which was pretty much all they had *thumbs down*. The Pavilion is BEAUTIFUL inside the main area as previous posts have mentioned (see photo). The lighting and decor is great and they provided up lighting in our wedding colors. They even had a dressing room so I could change into my Chinese dress mid reception too. I loved that they provide tables, chairs, and dish/glassware. I wish that the chairs were nicer so that we didn't have to rent seat covers, but luckily my caterer knew a company and handled that as well as linen rentals for me. Speaking of caterers....you HAVE to go off of the Pavilion's preferred catered list or you have to pay a fee ($1k+). Since we were already paying $5k to just rent the place we decided to go with one of their recommendations to save us some $. We went with Lisa's Bon Appetit because of their yelp reviews and because they've catered numerous events at the Pavilion so knew their way around. The food was received well and there were no surprises...good with me! They let you bring your own alcohol! This was a MUST for us because my husband is the owner of King Harbor Brewing Company (new brewery in north Redondo Beach) so of course we wanted to bring our own beer. We purchased all other drinks from Costco and returned the unopened stuff (gotta love em). Lisa's provided the bartenders for us. Originally I was coordinating with June who was such a sweet lady in person, but she wasn't the most responsive via email. Come time for me to confirm our meeting with her and our vendors...turns out she had retired and nobody had contacted me to let me know! Luckily, a few weeks later I was able to meet with their new coordinator (Paige) after she was settled in. Paige just got married too and was super nice to work with! I was impressed by how on top of things she was and I felt more at ease come wedding day. She emailed me to check in after the wedding too to say congrats =) Overall, everyone had a blast! There was plenty of space to move around tables and the dance floor was great. I received a good number of comments from people that thought the Pavilion looked like a classy hotel. SO if you are a lazy bride, I wouldn't recommend having your wedding here. But if you're willing to make it YOUR wedding where you can choose every detail, THIS IS YOUR PLACE. We just had our wedding at the Norris Pavilion this past weekend, and it was perfect in every way! First a little bit of background: we don't exactly live nearby (about 40 minutes north), as a matter of fact we considered using the club house across the street from us when first scouting for venues, so this place wasn't exactly the first we had in mind. My wife plays French horn in the Peninsula Symphonic Winds, which used to play the Norris Pavilion as a performing venue pretty frequently. It worked very well for them, though they no longer perform there. As a musician myself, I even performed with them at this very venue (together with my wife) a couple of times. In retrospect, this made it an even more obvious choice as it was one of the places where our musical minds melded, so to speak. When we finally remembered that they also doubled as a wedding venue, we contacted them to get more information and it became a very serious contender. We definitely wanted to have a strong musical element at our wedding, and this venue would be perfect for that. Despite their location in the heart of the upscale Palos Verdes peninsula, their fee was actually very reasonable. The $5K basic fee to get the venue for the day (8 hours) included almost everything: tables, chairs, lighting, setup, security staff, full use of the kitchen and bar facilities, they even had their own silverware to easily accommodate hundreds of people. On top of it, we could even rent their grand piano for just $50, a real steal! When comparing prices to other rooms, we'd end up spending a lot of money just renting all the items to be brought in. This by itself made it a lot easier. Plus for an extra $750, we could get the wedding ceremony done on the patio in the back of the venue, which even included access for a rehearsal a couple of days earlier. We ended up doing that as it made our logistics considerably easier - here they also provided the white chairs for the ceremony, set up and teardown, etc. In retrospect, considering we ended up getting pretty bad weather (even a bit of rain!) on our wedding day in freaking July, this was definitely a good choice. We first met with Nancy a few months ago to get the ball rolling. After picking a date in the summer that would work for us, we put down a deposit and started planning our event. The first order of business was to pick vendors, starting with the caterer (we went through their approved list as we didn't really know any). For the few extra items that the Norris didn't have available, we went through Choura Events - basically the only choice for this kind of stuff there. We ended up only needing a few items to put on the back patio during the reception (couches and fire pit), as well as a corner bar. The Norris provided everything else, and our caterer (Critic's Choice) provided linens, centerpieces and so on. For the following months, we were in close contact with the Norris staff (particularly Paige, our event manager) to set up all the details of our wedding. We had several meetings in person while we gathered our list of guests and determined the exact layout and setup of the place. Our guest list ended up reaching about 100 guests, which is rather small, but we also needed a pretty large stage for the 6-piece rock band that provided the entertainment throughout the evening. They have a modular stage setup that can be tweaked by setting heights and adding more pieces as needed (up to 20, I believe - most bands would need just 3, we needed 8!). With the dance floor, we had room for 13 round tables to accommodate all our guests without being too crowded. Since the Norris doubles as a performance arts venue, they were fully equipped to accommodate the elaborate setup for our band. For an extra fee, we could even rent their full house system and lights, though we didn't end up needing that ourselves. It is all very reasonably priced for what you get. But this made it an ideal venue for a wedding like ours with a strong musical component. The feedback we got from our band reflected that: they had the freedom they needed to bring our vision to life and get set up, with no interference from nosy hotel staff. Plus, did I mention that they have their own grand piano? Besides the gorgeous main hall that can be tweaked to your exact specifications, the rest of the venue is also beautiful. The lobby entrance with its own bar, along with the front entrance with its fountain were great places for our guests to wait. For the ceremony, the little foyer in the back was also ideal, and we even got to use the dance studio on the side to get ready to make our entrance. There was even a conference room we used to get paperwork done after the ceremony was over. All in all, this was the perfect venue for our wedding. It allowed us the flexibility to design the reception the way we wanted, it included many things we didn't have to worry about, and their staff made the process very easy! Awesome! read more

We had both our wedding ceremony and reception here in April of 2013-and we couldn't be happier at the way everything turned out! This venue is not your traditional wedding venue, as it's a performing arts center. They hold weddings, galas, bar mitzvahs, parties, etc, here, but they can't advertise due to their non-profit status (or something like that) which is why you won't find this venue on your typical wedding websites like weddingwire, projectwedding, and theknot. I happened to stumble across this venue's website while googling "event halls" and let me tell you, it was well worth the weeks of research online to find this place! We were looking for a venue that would allow us to bring in our own caterer and alcohol, and not surprisingly, there are few, if any, venues that will allow you to do both without charging you an exhorbitant fee making it financially ridiculous to go with an outside caterer/bring your own booze. The Norris Pavilion does allow you to bring in both, but with some caveats-keep in mind that you CAN bring your own caterer in, but if it's not off their "preferred vendor" list, they will charge you $750. Trust me, this is not a lot in the grand scheme of things, and you get the caterer/food YOU want. As for booze, you can BYOB but it has to be served by an insured bartender. So no, you cannot have your cousin's friend's brother bartend at your wedding unless he's insured! As for rentals, the upside to having your wedding here is that they have all of their own place settings, silverware and drinkware, which, of course, you have to rent if you want to use them. However, it's pretty darn cheap to use their stuff, so do it. They also have basic round tables and some rather not-so-cute-but-comfy standard chairs you can use if you'd like. The downside: despite the fact that they have all of the above-mentioned items, you MUST take coordinate your own linen rentals to cover said tables. We had to rent our own table linens for the round tables and rectangle tables, and opted to rent chiavari chairs through our caterer who got a BOMB deal on them. I'd recommend Designer Specialty LInens (in San PEdro) for your linen rentals-they are so great and easy to work with! The ceremony was held outside in the terrace which is a long and narrow space which is just perfect for a wedding ceremony with approximately 130-50 guests. We had our DJ bring his sound system so that the folks in the back could hear everything, and it worked out great. This place is great if you are type-a like me and crazy organized, or have a wedding coordinator you've hired to deal with the nitty gritty details. This place is NOT great for you to have your wedding if you are expecting the venue to do everything. You will not be disappointed if you have your wedding here, though-we absolutely loved it! read more

I came here for a wedding ceremony and reception. The inside of the place looks a lot better than the outside. One downside to this place is it is next to a fire station. In my case, the sirens went off during the ceremony and made it pretty hard to hear what was going on. The lobby area is pretty small with very limited seating. While I was waiting for a reception, there were only 4 tables in the lobby. The lobby was also filled with people in line for horderves and cocktails. The main reception was pretty nice. It was pretty spacious and fit over 250 people. One inconvenience of this place is the parking. There is very limited parking in their lot and it was mainly for the important people. Everyone else had to park in the structure across the street. But the positive to this is there was plenty of parking. read more

This is a great place to have a wedding ceremony AND reception! We first visited the Norris Pavilion on April 10 of 2014, a full year before the wedding date. From then on, every step of the planning process has been smooth, and I have to thank Paige Baumann, the on-site coordinator, for being so responsive and organized. The venue itself is beautiful, spacious, and perfect for large party; there is an outdoor ceremony space that can easily seat 150 guests and takes very little decoration because it is already so elegantly designed. The indoor reception area comes with a lovely, big dance floor, uplighting in the color of your choice, all the tables and chairs, as well as a bar in the cocktail area outside. The bathrooms are clean and the parking is free. There is a fountain that lends to the romantic nature of the front entrance. Best of all, however, they are there with you every step of the way. I was able to trust in Paige because her emails were so clear and detailed, she was always able to answer every one of my questions, and she met me for multiple meetings where I was able to tour the venue with my family, my day-of-coordinator, and various others to show them what I was envisioning. In addition, they were super flexible and helpful in allowing us to create centerpieces with *live* goldfish in them, a feat that would not have been possible if they hadn't let us bring a giant bucket to fill with water the night before. If I had to do it all again, I wouldn't change a thing about the venue. It was worth every penny. read more

We had our wedding here at the end of July and it was just perfect! When my husband and I started looking for venues, we knew we did not want something at a hotel or a country club and we needed a venue that would let us bring our own caterer because the catering would be provided by a long time family friend/ restaurant owner. Just when it seemed impossible to find the right venue, my sister attended a sweet 16 here and suggested we take a look at it. Right away, my husband and I got in contact with Nancy. She was great at responding to emails and working with our busy schedule. We set up a visit where she explained the ins and outs and we left out of there having already made our choice. The rental fee includes so much- tables, chairs, certain lighting, dinnerware, set-up and tear-down and amazing staff! The entire pavilion is gorgeous. From the street entrance to the terrace in the back, it was just beautiful and perfect. I especially loved the chandeliers in the main ballroom and the cherry wood walls! So, we did have to pay a fee for bringing our own caterer, but was not much when compared to other venues. We also were allowed to bring our own alcohol, which made for a great night for our guests given the open bar all night. We purchased all of our alcohol from Costco and were able to return what we were left with. For bartending, we hired 2 bartenders from Choura who helped make the bar a huge hit! We also hired 4 servers to help with the buffet, toast, cake cutting, etc... They were absolutely amazing!!! Last but not least, the coordinator at the pavilion, Paige, was outstanding! She recently got married herself and is extremely helpful in every way- she even provided some advice and support when I started feeling overwhelmed! I wanted to surprise my husband with a gobo light on the day at the venue and she was great at keeping the secret! On the wedding day, she was there to make sure everything was done and executed exactly how we had planned! Needless to say, thanks to all the employees at the pavilion, especially Paige and the ones provided by Choura, our wedding reception was magical and perfect in every way! read more

The Norris is literally a blank canvas, you can customize the lighting and add decor to make it exactly how you'd like. My husband James and I had our wedding on October 1, 2016 at the Harlyne J Norris Pavilion and we highly recommend it!!! Right from the very start to the very end, Lara Avengoza was so professional, friendly, so pleasant to work with, and very organized! She coordinated the setup, lighting, gobo, deposits/payments, and all the details needed to have a wedding there at the Harlyne J. Norris Pavilion! She was always responsive, so understanding and simply amazing! The venue itself had plenty of room to fit nearly 170 of my guests and we also had our ceremony on the outside patio. It was a hot sunny day, so the venue was even able to roll out some shade on the roof of the patio area so that our guests would be more comfortable and not be too blinded from the sun. There was also plenty of free parking across the street in the garage structure. One of the best features of the Pavilion is that you can bring your own alcohol for the bar, which saved us a lot of money by not being charged per head for all those who don't drink. We just had to hire and pay for bartenders and security separately. The Pavilion also has its own kitchen and list of preferred vendors. If you prefer to use a caterer not on the list, you can but with an extra charge. We used Critics Choice Catering from the list and they were simply spectacular! Lorraine Rice was phenomenal to work with from Critics Choice. She invited us for two tastings prior to the wedding. The food was absolutely delicious! The Pavilion also supplies all the tables, chairs, plates, glasses, silverware, dance floor, and lighting. They also supply all the chairs for the ceremony, too! It's all included in the price! If you want uplighting and a gobo, it is extra. The ballroom is a little on the darker side inside, so we ordered white chiavari chairs and a white dance floor from an outside vendor to brighten up the room a bit. It looked so pretty! The rental fee of the venue gives you a total of eight hours to use the facility. That includes set up and breakdown. We paid for an extra hour just to make sure all our vendors had enough time to get in and get out on time. All in all, you can't go wrong with this venue! It's very reasonable and you'd be working with Lara who will take care of all your needs! Thumbs up for the Harlyne J. Norris Pavilion! read more

The Norris Pavilion was the perfect venue for our Las Candalistas fund raising event, "Entertaining for the Holidays". The large room was a beautiful place to view our holiday decorated tables, to shop at our Las Candalistas Sweet Shop and Boutique, bid on Silent Auction items, and enjoy delicious treats offered by our caterer. The adjoining room was perfect for our guests to sit and enjoy our featured speakers, and the patio a great place to shop from our vendors. It was a beautiful day! We were searching for venues along the coast from Ventura and past Irvine for our wedding for almost two months before we stumbled upon Harlyne J. Norris Pavilion in Palos Verdes. We knew we had a large amount of guests, so we were very specific in trying to choose a venue that would have a beautiful outside view, and would work within our budget. As we visited many venues, we quickly knew that hosting our wedding reception at a hotel or golf course would be way out of our budget and would cost even more if we were to incorporate an open bar as well. The reason for this was that hotels and golf courses usually force you to use their own caterers/chefs and alcohol/bartenders, so they increase the prices since you really have no choice. Fortunately, our caterer, Critic's Choice, recommend we check out Norris since they frequently work together on events, and mentioned that Norris allowed for us to bring in our own alcohol and they had a venue large enough to host a reception 250-280 people. Once we visited the pavilion, we knew it was a beautiful place to have our ceremony and reception. Not to mention, it was very easy to work with Lara Avengoza from the Norris Pavilion and she was very accomodating. She was the point of contact for us, and she was very friendly, responsive, and helpful. Together, we were able to plan the ceremony and reception and layout quickly and without much issues. We even went back and forth with Lara as our guest list number kept changing and she was extremely patient with us, and figured out how to fit everyone in the main room. The only thing that was not that desireable was that the ceremony area in the terrace could only hold around 170 guests due to limited space, so we had to cut down the number of people coming to our ceremony to 150 and the rest of the 250 people arrived later for our cocktail hour and reception; however, this worked out okay for us. We opted to have pin-spot lightning, uplights, bistro lights, and a gobo light (with our names on it) at our venue, while renting chiavari chairs through and outside vendor. Together with all the lighting done by Norris' team, our venue lit up beautifully with our theme colors and made all our decor and centerpieces stand out. It was absolutely stunning! The terrace area with the bistro lights was really nice at night in addition to the great summer weather there. Additionally, the restrooms are very clean and nice, and there were plenty of them so we didn't have long lines of guests waiting for the restrooms. They even put up a marquee outside with whatever we wanted to say on it so guests could know they were at the right place. We highly recommend anyone who wants to plan their own wedding reception to go through Harlyne J. Norris Pavilion, as the pin-spot lighting and gobo lighting is definitely a must-have! Not to mention, the fact that they allow you to bring your own alcohol, bartenders, and caterer really helps with the budget and cost-saving! Combine all of this with Lara helping with the event planning, we were really happy that we decided to have our wedding at the Harlyne J. Norris Pavilion. read more

A pretty place to hold a wedding reception. We walked in to a stunning array of lights, classy decor and an intimate environment. The outdoor area is a little sparse but I know there are pictures where the couple has bedazzled and decorated it beautifully. The waitstaff were a little rude when I asked them for a plate so I could give my husband some of my food, but I think they were also busy and understaffed. We used Norris as the venue for our reception. At first look Norris may not have it all. However, what is great about Norris is that you can dress it up whatever you like and they are very flexible. There are additional add ons that make the venue look amazing. Lara was extremely easy to work with and reassured us that everything will go well for the wedding and it did. Jade, the day of coordinator, also kept the wedding going well. You may not have heard of Norris for weddings because they dont really advertise themselves. They are a diamond in the rough. We had our wedding and reception here in August 2015 and it was great! We got a ton of compliments about the venue and everyone had a great time. Paige was very helpful and answered any questions I had in a timely manner. The ability to bring in your own alcohol was a huge plus for us, and they also provided the tables/chairs/etc. so it saved us on rental fees. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is I think their add-ons are quite pricey. They have a beautiful room with a lighting grid all set up, but adding any extra lighting features or projections on the wall was quite pricey. Also, the chairs for the ceremony were really nice, but the chairs in the actual venue aren't the best. I'd definitely recommend the venue to anyone who is looking for a place to hold a reception or event. read more

The Norris was an excellent place to celebrate our daughter's bat mitzvah! We were able to have the ceremony and reception all in one place with the caterer of our choosing--Made by MEG-- and guests had a wonderful time. The Norris had plenty of room for 140 guests. We chose to have the religious service in the dance room, so that people could be in an enclosed space and hear the service well. We used pipe and drape to cover the mirror and rented an ark and other religious pieces for the stage that the Norris provided. We used the outside terrace for our adult guests immediately after the service. The terrace looked pretty at night with hanging lights and a bar and cocktail tables outside. The Norris set up all the chairs for the service, the tables and chairs for the reception, and showed us various uplight options at a meeting the week of our event. We were also able to test the AV equipment for our video montage. We were fortunate that there was not an event a few days before ours, as I'm sure this may not always be an option. Lara, the event director, is WONDERFUL. She always responded promptly to my numerous questions leading up to the event. She is very professional and friendly. The ballroom provided plenty of room for 9 round tables for adult guests, a large dance floor, and a "lounge area" for the teen guests. We also had room for a photo booth, a donut wall, and a s'mores station. We also utilized the main lobby as a teen area, with a non-alcoholic bar and appetizers and a "wax hand" vendor. There was plenty of room for every fun thing at this event. They also have great lighting options. We designed our own gobo to shine on the wall. Lara told me the websites where I could order custom gobos, or we had the option to use one of their templates. It seems as though the Norris is promoted primarily as a wedding site, but we found it to be the perfect venue for a religious service (bat mitzvah) and fabulous party. read more

I just had my wedding this September and I am very happy to have chosen the Norris for my wedding. The place is very beautiful, it has an indoor bar, and outdoor patio, and a lot of space for practically anything. The space itself is very beautiful, you don't need much decor for your wedding to make it look nice and elegant which is a plus. Ebony was very nice and had great customer service which is a plus. I must've emailed her the same questions several times especially as I was getting closer to the wedding and she was so patient and always answered quickly and professionally and for that I am grateful. The venue provides tables (round and rectangle), chairs, cocktail tables, glassware such as forks, knives, spoons, glass cups, and plates which is awesome because you save on all that and it's nice glassware too! A major plus for me was that they let you bring your own alcohol and bartender. Just as long as your bartender was licensed you can hire them yourself which was important to me. Being able to Bring my own alcohol was cost effective as I wanted an open bar so that was definitely a plus. They also let you choose your own sign for the side of the venue which is honestly very cool. In addition, they have a bridal room with lots of lighting for any touch ups. The only downside I will say is that you need to set up everything and have everything done/ cleaned within your selected rental time frame. The contract comes with 8 hours but you can rent additional hours. A lot of other venues let you have the whole day but this venue works in this manner which isn't bad but the only downside. It is affordable for how beautiful it is and the great location. read more

After a long and exhaustive search of SoCal wedding venues, we selected the Harlyne J Norris Pavillion as our venue for both the ceremony and reception, and our guests have commented over and over that it was one of the best weddings that they have ever attended. The Norris Center is a performing arts center, so you have all of the advantages of lighting, sound, acoustics, bathrooms, bar areas, tables, chairs, etc that would normally be found in a place like this. If you want to get creative here, you have really unlimited options, and that is a lot of fun. Much of the success of your wedding, like any other wedding will be attributed to the quality of your caterer, service staff, DJ, decorations, etc. But as far as being a unique and modular space, the Norris Center is absolutely awesome. Our wedding ceremony was outside on the terrace area, which was then expertly converted from a and altar, aisle and chairs into an outdoor lounge with open bar, fire pits, padded sofas and cocktail tables and desert bar immediately after our ceremony, while our guests were having cocktails in another area. The cocktail hour itself was in the main foyer where guests had access to a bar, restrooms and the scenery of the fountain in front of the building. The reception was held in the main ballroom where you can use the gobo lights, custom lighting, disco balls, and a full theater sound system to do whatever you like. Possibly the best attribute of the Norris Center is the ability to bring in your own caterer and your own alcohol (depending on the caterer that you select). We hired Critics Choice Catering, and they were amazing. They supply a bartender, and allow you to bring in your own alcohol. Norris Center provides all tables chairs, cocktail tables, wine glasses, flatware, etc - another big advantage. The only downside is that you need to use their contracted furniture vendor, not a big problem because Choura was fantastic - it's just a bit of a flexibility issue. Paige the event coordinator is excellent to work with. She really makes the place easy to work with. read more

The moment my husband & I walked inside the terrace area we knew the pavilion would be our wedding venue. We had around 140 guests, and there was plenty of room for everyone to enjoy both indoors and outdoors. We had such a smooth and enjoyable planning experience with Lara, receiving prompt and comprehensive responses to all of our questions/concerns. We were also given a lot of flexibility when it came to visiting the pavilion with our vendors, as well as choosing the floor layout that worked best for our party. We ended up choosing a wonderful caterer from their preferred list, and benefited from having the option of bringing in our own alcohol without a corkage fee. There are some restrictions in place when it comes to decorating (i.e. no sparklers, glitter, etc.) and storage at the facility; however, there is nothing unreasonable in their agreement terms to worry about. We would highly recommend this venue to anyone currently shopping around! read more

This was the wedding reception venue for us 6/20/15 and it was awesome. Let me start by saying that Paige and Jeff are great people who helped make this day special for us. Paige was the contact person who helped with all the coordinating prior to the event. She helped us tour the venue, book the venue and create a layout for the venue. Jeff was the day of person, he was there during the event to make sure everything happened according to the itinerary that Paige help create. Now to talk about the actual venue, its perfect! There is ample room we had 278 guest, the venue was very spacious. All of our guest complemented us on such a beautiful venue. The design of the venue allows for one to tailor it to there personal preference. We had a buffet style reception which the Norris along with Lisa's Bon Appetite pulled off seamlessly. We had a cocktail hour at the entrance where the main bar is located at. The main bar is large enough to quench the thirst of 278 guest no problem. For dinner we had the catering staff staged in the outdoor patio which allowed a nice flow. In the main hall we were able to have the largest dance floor along with a stage for our live music.
