The final design was beautiful, and we loved working with our vendor team. Unfortunately, our experience with Details Darling throughout the planning process did not meet our expectations. The biggest challenge was communication. Responses regularly took about a week, despite email being identified as the preferred method of communication, and we often had to send multiple follow-ups or text messages to receive answers. More concerning, these communication delays also affected our vendors. Our rental company repeatedly followed up on outstanding items because they were unable to get the information they needed, and I ultimately called them myself to apologize and reassure them that we valued their partnership. Our paper goods designer also contacted me directly on multiple occasions because they were not receiving timely responses from our planner. Accountability was another significant disappointment. We spoke with one of the owners during our initial consultation, but after signing our contract and submitting our deposit, we never heard from ownership again. In fact, after our deposit had been in their possession for several days, I had to reach out myself asking what the next steps were. Later, after raising serious concerns about our experience early in the planning process, there was still no outreach or involvement from ownership to understand our concerns or ensure our experience improved. That lack of leadership and accountability was disappointing. Throughout the planning process, we often felt like we were driving the work ourselves. We were the ones identifying ways to reduce costs while still achieving our design goals. Rather than acting as a strategic partner in balancing budget and design, we often found ourselves leading those conversations. We also experienced confusion with rental pricing that resulted in unnecessary time and effort to resolve. There were also several day-of execution issues that were disappointing, including our escort card display not being set up as designed, my veil not being steamed, music delays with our ceremony and reception entrance, limited coordination during family photos, meals that were promised to be saved for us never being delivered, and our cake still being rock hard because it had not been removed from refrigerator in time. None of these issues individually ruined our wedding day, but together they reflected a pattern of slow communication, limited accountability, and inconsistent execution. Looking back, we believe our wedding was as successful as it was because of our own preparation and the exceptional work of vendors we selected, none of which were on the recommended vendor list from our planner. We appreciate the time Monica invested in our wedding and her kindness. However, based on our experience, we cannot recommend her or Details Darling's planning services to couples looking for a planner who will communicate proactively, advocate for their clients, and consistently follow through on commitments.

There's just too…read moremany moving parts to a wedding and we've seen others who were just too stressed out during their own wedding planning process who may have had emotional breakdowns. Therefore, just the thought of trying to plan a wedding was too overwhelming for us and we weren't insistent on it. This was especially so since we were planning for a wedding in Southern California while we live in Northern California. However, we needed a wedding celebration because it's a once-in-a-lifetime thing for our families. We opted for partial planning services with Grace, but it honestly felt more like a full planning service. Since our consultation to our wedding day, Grace was a tremendous help. Not only did she provide recommended vendors and reach out to each of them for quotes, but she communicated with them on behalf of us during the entire process and helped us negotiate prices to help us with our budget. When it came to contracts with our venue, she was wonderful at offering suggestions so that we could meet our F&B minimum without sacrificing guest experience. We also wanted to do a short tea ceremony the day of at the venue, and during the process, Grace helped us work with the venue to accommodate that. Grace also joined in on our calls with vendors which was a huge deal, since we weren't familiar with the venue or what was allowed/not allowed. Grace was also pregnant and had delivered a baby during our wedding planning process, but was still answering vendor emails for us and checking in on us that entire time! We also had a specific type of rehearsal/welcome dinner in mind and Grace went and booked the perfect place for us, even checking in to make sure we were aware of plans and where we were with our budget. Our venue was not so great at communicating, so there was an event the day before our wedding (especially annoying since our wedding party had to book flights earlier), but Grace was great at coordinating our family and wedding party to practice a last minute rehearsal the day of the wedding. We also wanted to get a little crafty for our individualized wedding favors which we decided to tape to the back of our menus, so Grace designed the menus with this favor in mind, and also taped each wedding favor to each guest's menu for us! This was a huge help since guest name tags were not finalized until so close to the wedding date and we were already busy with our work lives and other things. During the day-of, Grace made sure that we were on top of things especially with the timeline. She made sure that we were able to enjoy our food and drink enough water, and would be the "bad guy" for us when necessary. She also made sure our vendors were moving according to schedule and would be the go-to person for everything, otherwise we would have to be the ones constantly communicating to our DJ/MC or all the other vendors. Our wedding day worked out perfectly and Grace's designing (which we initially did not care about) was absolutely beautiful! Our guests kept giving us compliments about all the details and how organized and fun the day felt, and then we realized how important having a wedding planner was for such a big day for any couple. It was the best day of our lives and we are so glad that Grace was a huge part of why it happened! We are so glad she was a huge part of our new chapter!

We had a wedding planner before Grace that we had to part ways with in the middle of the planning process. This made me extremely anxious to put trust in someone else with such an important day in our lives. But from the first call with Grace, all of those anxieties disappeared! She is calm, she gets it done, and she was somehow always one step ahead of anything that popped into my mind at any given moment! Before the event, Grace kept us organized, gave us great recommendations for vendors, and grounded us. She coordinated with all of our vendors, including reading through every contract. She made sure our wedding day ran seamlessly. Grace prioritized exactly what was important to the bride and groom. Even making sure we ate our dinner! And when the caterer forgot to bring the vegan meals, she handled the situation quickly and without causing any stress to us or our guests. My family and friends were extremely complimentary of their interactions with Grace and were all very impressed with how the day ran. For the bride and groom, being able to enjoy each other and our day without worrying about the details on the day-of is so important. Grace did that and more!

We were initially very impressed with his initiative to get started ahead of that timeline and to offer to take over many responsibilities that we did not ask or expect him to do. With less than 6 weeks to the wedding he started missing his own self imposed deadlines to get back to us with various tasks which started making us uneasy as we would have already have taken care of them if it was still left to us. My wife had a conversation with him 3 weeks prior to the wedding regarding that issue and his general unresponsiveness, he accepted responsibility and put us at ease. While we really like his calm demeanor both leading up to and during the day of the wedding, he was not on top of the itinerary from the beginning to the end and we both felt like he was simply in over his head. Others stepped in numerous times to do his job (notably our photographer/videographer) and help keep the wedding on track with the timeline we had created. Certain things were asked of him several times and yet neither he nor his two helpers (who we were mostly impressed with) delivered. For a smaller wedding (ours had over 200 people) it is very possible that he would do a good job, we however regretted our decision to hire him. Also, we contacted him a couple times regarding items he/his team did not retrieve from our ceremony and he neglected to follow up.

Natasha ensured that our flower vendor repeated our mock up of the center pieces until it met the vision that we had in mind; mind you Natasha handled this extra request without hesitation. When my Mom could not meet me for a dress fitting, Natasha was more than happy to meet me so that I didn't have to do the fitting by myself. It was the extra effort that she put forth that was truly appreciated. Now the day of the wedding, she popped in and out of the Bridal suite, providing me updates and made sure we had all of the necessary accoutrements that we needed. The entire day was filled with her making sure me and my husband were happy. I'm prone to overthinking, so I was amazed at how smoothly everything went and how little I thought about logistics on the wedding day, because they were all handled to perfection. We got married at King Gillette Ranch which is basically a completely empty space you have to build out from scratch with your vendors. Janna kept things going with a smile. All the vendors knew what to do and set things up impeccably. During the event, Janna safeguarded us when needed, moved us along when needed, and let us enjoy ourselves without interruption when we could. She and her team thought of so many touches big and small that really made our day, even something like having a drink and apps ready just for us after the ceremony. And the items they set up were done beautifully. Janna even came to help me with a wardrobe malfunction that I couldn't figure out how to fix. It was a real-life fairy godmother moment! All this to say that you can trust this team, and I am so grateful that I did. We went with the Lantana package (coordination), which obviously meant we had to do some of the heavy lifting and research in preparation for the wedding, but it was invaluable to have the guidance of Janna the whole way. I would say it was very worth it for the amount of involvement she had a whole year in advance. She sent us vendor recommendations, a planning calendar, looked at contracts, and we had monthly calls. We kept track of our budget, would call and book vendors, picked rentals and flowers (design), handled stationary, RSVPs, DIYs, and a million other things that go into planning a wedding. I liked being able to make decisions, and stayed on top of things with spreadsheets and lists, but I wouldn't have felt comfortable doing it without an expert like Janna who could keep me on track so nothing important fell through the cracks. It was also incredibly useful to be able to ask her anything throughout the process if I had any questions. And Janna eventually took over vendor communications about 1 month out, which allowed us to focus on final prep all couples go through, and guests trickling into town. Lily from Orange Blossom stepped up to the plate and did a phenomenal job!! She understood that we just needed someone there the day of and she never once overstepped or made us feel stressed. She followed our wishes perfectly and made sure our timeline was fulfilled to a T! Lily is extremely professional, patient and kind. She goes above and beyond on the day and made sure nothing went wrong!! We greatly appreciate Lily for taking us on as clients and being so easygoing, organized and kind! I also want to stress that Orange Blossom and Lily were kind enough to give us a discount since we had already done all the footwork! They didn't feel it was morally right to charge us for an overall planner/coordinator. It's rare (especially in the wedding industry) to find people with such great morals, integrity and kindness.
