He and his…read morewife moved to Hampton TN, way up in the mountains, built a home with a connecting hostel just a short walk from the Appalachian Trail, with the intent to host AT hikers, and volunteer to maintain what was at the time a very poorly maintained section of the Appalachian Trail. It's a special place place rooted deep within the long distance hiking community. The hostels amenities are very simple. Bunks, wood stove, showers, laundry, free shuttle, kitchen. It's perfect for hikers. And anyone who meets Bob will tell you he is the salt of the earth.

Bob Peoples has got to be one of the friendliest members of the AT society I have met yet. He was extremely cheerful and loves to laugh and joke with everyone. At his hostel you can bunk, or if you're a couple and there aren't many hikers staying the night you arrive, he will let you stay in one of his private cabins (one is a tree house). You are also able to shower and do laundry during your stay, and they will also shuttle the group into town. We had a medical problem, so Bob made a special trip into town just for us. It is not the cleanest, newest hostel we've been to, however none thus far have been. It was the atmosphere that made it incredible. I just hope hikers don't take advantage of this gem and they give back to his cause. We had such an amazing experience at this hostel!

They provide all of the amenities of home for their guests. We enjoyed a fire in the fire pit next to our cabin and rocking on the front porch in the evenings. The sound of the water moving down the river and the seclusion of the location is peaceful and good for the soul. Due to the convenient location we were able to enjoy sight seeing in North Carolina and Tennessee and take in the breathtaking views from the mountains when hiking. For anyone who loves the outdoors as we do this is the perfect location to spend a vacation. The small town of Erwin is a favorite of ours for its charm and unique shops. We look forward to spending more time at the farm!

When I arrived a few days later they took me in as if I were family. I had injuries from the trail and without hesitation got me the medical treatment I needed. They put me up in the cabin where again they made me feel at home...so much so I did not want to leave spending 5 days with them. I met many other wonderful guests who shared the cabin and stayed in their guest rooms in the house overlooking the scenic view of the river. If you need a bed, room or whole house rental I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Cantarroso Farms as must visit in Erwin Tennessee. Trail Name: "Wye Knot"

I am a pretty big guy but fit comfortably on the extended twin mattress. The mattress left something to be desired , but ultimately I slept better than I normally do at hotels because after 11:00, lights go out and it is quiet hours, which all of the other residents abide by. You can't beat the price and location, in the heart of the tourist district, just blocks from the drum circle park and Harrahs arena.

Sweet Peas offers a great product: great price, great location, and good clean, safe, lodging…read more I think its fair to say the following: Asheville is a tourist destination-and lots of people come to Asheville for many different reasons, and everyone needs lodging. With most homeowners prohibited by local zoning to rent out their homes via Airbnb for short term stays, and with limited hotels within the downtown area, Sweet Peas provides travelers with surprisingly affordable lodging for those seeking an alternative to the chain hotels. Sweet Peas is right downtown, in the midst of the all the things that brings one to Asheville: shopping, music, sports, outdoor fun, and...food-you are in walking distance to any and all of these pleasures you seek. I'm a repeat visitor. It's an ideal spot for me when I visit town 3-5 times a year for the price and location. If you have stayed in a hostel before, you know this is a decent hostel. If you haven't, please-don't compare to a hotel. There are varieties of ages present-young, middle, old, all here for different reasons. There will be people to build community with, or, you can hide in your bunk-and that's ok. There is no alcohol allowed, and quiet times between 11 pm and 7 am. The staff are friendly, efficient, and will provide you towels etc. There is a fridge (but know its usually pretty full) and coffee pot and kitchen area. I've found when traveling, its best to travel hopefully, and I've also found then when staying at a hostel, remain hopeful and positive, and you'll love your experience when doing so. My next visit is in a couple of weeks, and I look forward to the respite of Sweet Peas.
