This is most evident on chilly winter nights when Stratford plays a home football game at the adjacent Tully Stadium. I know it's time to pack up and head over to watch the game when I start hearing the Stratford band's drum section and the sound of the announcer's voice reverberate throughout the neighborhood. It is the single most important cohesive force in the area. Everyone goes to the game. It's three generations now: grandparents, parents (many who attended Stratford themselves) and the kids. Other neighbors who have no affiliation with Stratford at all go because it's where everyone else is on a Friday night. For hardcore Stratford fans, Stratford's 1978 Division 5A State Championship team will always loom large. Visions of more football glory of this sort cropped up again during the 2007 fall season because a phenomenal athlete, Andrew Luck (son of Oliver Luck who was a quarterback for the Oilers and is currently the President of the Houston Dynamo), was able to hoist the whole football program on his shoulders, quarterback them to the district title and then power the team through several early rounds of the state championship tournament. Now that Stratford's football program is back to its normal mediocrity in the post-Luck era, Stratford fans are content when the team beats its arch-rival, Memorial High School. In many ways, it's a pity that, here in Texas, the football program defines a school's identity. At Stratford for instance, the girl's volleyball team is much more of a perennial contender in the city and state than the football program ever has been. I've had one daughter graduate from Stratford, another currently is a student there and I have son who's in the queue to attend Stratford when he gets out of Middle School. I believe my kids are lucky. Stratford is consistently one of the highest-ranked schools in the United States per Newsweek magazine. It has an outstanding orchestra program. The Stratford Playhouse puts on productions of which many college programs would be very envious. Its Academy of Science and Engineering provides a unique opportunity for America's future technology leaders to flex their mental muscles. The best endorsement I can give the school, however, is to repeat what my daughter (who just completed her first semester at UT Austin) told me after making UT's honor role: "Dad, Stratford actually prepared me very well for college." Good job, Stratford. Go Spartans!

Great school my daughters love the teachers ‍ Very nice classes they have been here since pre-k…read more The only problem is that one of my daughters come home complaining that the lunches are horrible and she gets bullied a lot by the other kids in her classroom. She likes the school VERY much but whenever I come to eat lunch with her I see all the kids talking and not eating there lunches and when it's time to go they throw away everything even the stuff that they don't eat. Some of them only eat the chips for extras and not eat they're real lunch. Also they need to change the schedule because after lunch it's recess and when you run with still food in your tummy it starts to hurt your stomach and make you sit on a bench. Great school but needs some amprovments!

My husband and I always wanted our children to have a Christian education but were new to Katy when our oldest turned 5. When we enrolled in 2017, BCA was extremely small (only 40 kids). Each year the school has grown and next year I hear we will have 400 students K through 12. This is really exciting, because the highschoolers will have more opportunities such as athletics through TAPPS and FFA. My kids are athletic and love to play multiple sports. At BCA sports begin in 5th grade and they are able to play volleyball, flag football, basketball, and run track and cross country. Apparently it's on the horizon that BCA will offer baseball and 7 man tackle football soon as well. While it is wonderful that we are now able to provide some of these opportunities to the kids, that is not what keeps us at BCA. BCA is special because while many schools are Christian only in name, BCA teaches every single subject through a biblical lens. Why do we teach students math? Because God is a God of order and He gave us math as a tool - it is worthy of learning! Why teach students science? Because all the world is His creation. We also value BCA teachers are not simply trying to cram information into students so that they test well - they want the students to love learning. I feel like every teacher my child has had (and at this point we have had over 50 across my 3 children) has truly seen my child for who they are and worked with them to grow their individual gifts and improve areas where they struggle. The teachers don't just care for the students during the school year either - it's year round. My daughter's math teacher is hosting a Bible study for her home over the summer for the girls. Another thing I love about BCA is that they teach the kids to treat others with respect. The students say "yes ma'am" and "no sir" to teachers and other authority. Boys pull out chairs for girls and hold doors open, and girls say thank you in return. In an era where chivalry seems relatively dead, we get a lot of compliments on the students for having this basic etiquette. I also really appreciate that it is a cell phone free campus. There are no Chromebooks, and no student is allowed to have a cell phone at any point during the school day no matter what their age or grade. While I initially wondered how my kids would learn to do assignments on a computer if there were non at school, they do learn in upper school. My 9th grader has become proficient in typing and has performed many assignments online, while also being a confident public speaker. Public speaking has huge emphasis at BCA - there are various assignments and opportunities throughout the year in which each and every student presents or recites in front of their peers. Finally, it's a wonderful community of parents. Volunteering is a requirement at the school - each family must volunteer a minimum of 20 hours. That leads to parents being on campus often and getting to know one another. There are also lots of social opportunities for parents - there are moms coffee dates, moms night out, dads nights, a book club, and more. If you want a Christ centered education for your kids, this is it!

Students that want to eagerly participate in sports are discouraged by coaches behaviors, tempers and failure to follow district policies about training in outdoor heat in access of 100 degrees. Coaches pick and keep "favorite athletes". The tryouts are just to go thru the motions to keep an" appearance of fairness" Some Clubs are fictional on the website, where most don't exist, the ones that do exist are disorganized and poorly run (teachers canceling last minute and late to their own meetings). The school is absolute garbage. Support staff are a joke and the counselors have little knowledge on how to advise the kids. Parents and kids will get the runaround if asking questions. On more occasions than I can count, she has offended and belittled both parents and students.
