Their fried chicken is cooked to your liking, but I prefer mine not too crispy, and I also dislike it when it's undercooked. Not being from Chicago, I had to learn that if you don't speak up, they will dress your chicken with their famous sauce. Uhmmm, not me--I can put my own condiments on my food. The service is hit or miss depending on which store you visit. Sometimes they are polite, and sometimes not so much. The simple concept is to get your food and leave. I've been to one where folks can sit down and eat, but that is not normal. The restaurant is so small there aren't enough tables. So, I have never eaten in. I went to this location on 03/07/2026 and I got 4 wings (almost 13$) fried hard with mild sauce and it took 15 minutes so I just knew it was gonna be fresh and cooked hard . not at all the chicken was old and it tasted and looked like it was only warmed up . Only reason I didn't take it back is because I live in Hammond and was just upset to go back . But I really think that was unexceptionable and the lobby had smell to it I'll give them 0-10 read more

I ordered from this location and received one of their employees artificial nails in my chicken so clearly gloves is not worn at all. This is extremely disgusting and I will be contacting the Board of Health. I tried to call this establishment and as everyone stated in previous reviews they do not answer the phone. I use to love the catfish fillets but visiting this located caused me to rethink everything. It had a dirty smell which was a BIG turnoff.

I went here after visiting my brother and a night of drinking. I waited on someone to take my order. I waited half of a Gospel song (5 mins) I missed the sign that was the font size of about 7 points that stated a bell was there to ring for someone. I ended up calling them letting them know I was at the window waiting on service. Wasn't greeted @ all. I expected a little more from them, considering they have Walter Hawkins and Yolanda Adams in everybody's ear. I Peter 5:14 states to "Greet one another with the kiss of love. Peace to all of you who are in Christ. (ESV)" I guess they missed that. I needed something to soak up the beer so I ordered 10 wings dinner thinking I could have some wings left over the next day. I was wrong. I ate 9 wings. That is how small they were. You can't even find them in the pic I am sharing. Disappointing. They were tasty. Tasted like Harold's. Just was very small. Cooked fresh to order. So I waited 2 Gospel songs for my meal (20 mins., we don't when to end a Gospel song) Only Gospel music is played here and the flatscreen is off so that you are forced to pay attention to each song. Harold's the way I remember! It's been a while since I've been to Harold's. I used to go to the one Uptown or on Harrison St downtown but both have been closed for a long time. I was driving by and saw it and decided to stop. I'm glad I didn't read the Google reviews first as I might have decided to skip it. I ordered the lunch special. Expected the wait time, about 15 minutes. The cashier was pleasant, professional and gracious. Asked for IDs with credit card users, and I'm all for that! People were coming in and out who had placed phone orders, no issues with any of them while I was there. My order was perfect- plenty of sauce, chicken fresh, just as I remembered. The only thing was they didnt have diet soda in their fountain options. Will definitely visit this location again. read more

Harold's at one time was an all time favorite like Brown's Chicken used to be. Let me tell you in today's hard times the last thing you need for your hard earned money is a nasty attitude, and then when you don't want to cause a disturbance because as we know a lot of our black owned businesses don't survive and with today's help with service I can see why. Then you supposedly speak with a "manager" and I the paying customer let me say that again. My husband and I ordered 8wings and a large mild sauce from this establishment on 3/24/18. After 40 minutes of waiting for our 8piece, we noticed everyone who ordered after us already received their food. We asked what was taking so long, the kitchen lost our purchase ticket and refused to give us a full refund. In total, we waited 55 minutes for an 8 piece order of chicken. We talked to the acting manager, he refused to give us the managers name in the beginning, but after talking to him and demanding the Real managers name, he then said Ms. Peters is the manager. I had the worst customer service experience ever here. I ordered 5 wings with mild and hot sauce and salt and pepper. They gave me wings with only hot sauce. I immediately took the order back and asked for them to remake my food. They gave me two tiny containers of mild sauce instead. They refused to remake my food. This Harold's has to be the worst location ever. Please avoid this location by any means. I called and order a pan of chicken for a office party. The chicken was not ready when we arrived (30 min wait) after doing a phone order. Then I was told they charge $2 additional to place the sauce on the chicken. The customer service was absolute horrific. The cashier was extremely rude and unprofessional. Once we received the chicken more than half of the pieces were undone pink and watery on the inside. I immediately called the manager Tameeka who waited almost 24 hours before even returning my call. I was told I cannot get a refund and they would not remake it. The owner needs to get involved in the daily business of this location. They don't answer the phone so I guess they don't welcome phone orders. There is plenty of poor customer service. We paid $6.49 for 4 pitiful chicken wings that had no seasoning but it was ironic the order of large gizzards was heavily salted, so salty until I tossed half the order. I should have known not to shop at a place with a note taped to the window letting you know they will be assessing the pop tax to your order, somebody needs to tell them that is no longer valid. The other note lets you know there is no refund for their mistakes which tells me and my friends to go elsewhere, they want to take your money and screw you if it's not right. First time and definitely the last time I'll be visiting this location. I will not be recommending this location to anyone not even my worst enemy.
