Don't have much to say about this Harold's. The workers greeted me when I came in, even offered some suggestions. I was told my food would take 15 minutes and it took exactly that. It's a small place so I waited in my car. I was the only customer and there was no place to sit and eat if your looking for that. I ordered wings and a shrimp dinner. Shrimp tasted like homemade shrimp, which is a good thing! The chicken wasn't anything spectacular, I'm from the south so my palate is a lil different but it was good chicken to me, just without all the extra grease and seasonings. I ordered a half white. Took it home, just to discover they gave me two thighs instead of breasts, and they were soggy as hell and small, along with the two tiny soggy wings. How the hell do you mix up a half white with wings and thighs? Live too far to take it back, and wouldn't trust them to cook it right after that fiasco. Should have know the place was shady when I saw the "No Refund unless not eaten" sign. They make a goof, you eat any of it, tough luck, chump. Had a craving for chicken gizzards so I placed a telephone order at Harold's in Crestwood. I should mention that I have been to this same Harold's location a couple times previously and tried their catfish (fillets) which were very good. Unfortunately the chicken gizzards were a different story. The gizzards a not cooked whole. They are cot into pieces and then breaded. This may work if you have lighter breading that does not overtake the tiny pieces of gizzard. Additionally the gizzards were extremely overcooked and tasted like burnt cornmeal. I honestly considered that the gizzards I received were previously cooked and not picked up, then cooked again. The French fry's were basic fries. Now I ordered 2 small catfish dinner why was one only dropped. So now I see the other food I order is just sitting on the counter getting cold cause they waiting on my other catfish order. What is the point when they should dropped both fish order since it was the same. This place always only have 2-3 workers knowing they have a rush for lunchtime. Atrocious customer service!! the last two times I've ordered they did not prepare my food and after waiting for 40 minutes for my order, I was told the cook did not prepare my food. MInd you I ordered and paid at the counter ahead of time. This happened twice. Back to Back!!! Not to mention they are very rude when you call in to make a pick up order. They act like you are inconveniencing them by calling. This Crestwood location does not appreciate their customers!! Wow! Sooo good! My family loves their catfish platter! Finally we found a great place for fish since they closed all the Long John Silvers in Chicago. We get 3 platters with some mild and hot sauce on the side. They are absolutely mouthwatering! I order over the phone while going to get our cars washed across the street. It takes anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. Watch out! They can be busy so it's best to be prepared. The service is always excellent and the store is small with like one table. That's fine with us. I drive about 25 minutes to get home and it's still hot. Please don't make any changes. read more

I haven't been to all the Harold's on the Southside of Chicago or South Sub. but, this was the worst. It wasn't the service, It was the chicken. I order the 2 breast dinner, and the 6 wing dinner for the wife. As soon as the wife open her meal, the 1st thing she said, was the chicken was old, and you can see the black on the bone. I open mine, and it look good until I tasted it. White meat is supposed to be white not, the color of the dark meat, and it had a nasty taste to it. This particular evening (like most weekends) was busy , after arriving home I noticed that the clerk(or cook ) messed up my order(6wings) (gave me mild instead of HOTTT). I called the store and asked to speak to the manager, she came to the phone and was very pleasant, she apologized several times and told me to come back and mention the conversation so I can get my chicken replaced . Harold's chicken is one of my favorite spots to eat. As soon as you walk in, you smell that famous sauce. The atmosphere is nice. This place is more of a carry out spot, but there are tables inside. Everything on the menu tastes great. I recommend getting the tenders or the wings. You can choose hot or mild, I choose both! It tastes great. The only downside to this spot is that you have to call ahead. All of the orders are cooked fresh, so there's a wait. But sometimes even when you call ahead, you have to wait longer. Sometimes this spot struggles with consistency. There isn't enough sauce on the chicken or they completely forget a part of your order. It doesn't happen often, but it happens sometimes. Another day, another Harolds. There was another chicken place at this location but it closed. It was nice to come across a brand spanking new Harolds. I interrogated the staff on their Harolds number and they said they were so new they didn't know it yet. They had reasonably priced lunch specials which included a pop. So I got my Harolds fix: great chicken slathered in sauce served with fries atop white bread. Not better or worse than any other Harolds, just some great comfort food. I was excited to find a Harold's Chicken near my work. When I first walked in the first thing I noticed was the blaring TV in such a small room, followed by the music coming from the kitchen. I could not understand a word the employee behind the counter was saying. I'm sure he was frustrated as I asked him to repeat just about everything he was saying several times, but yet he never spoke louder than the previous moment. I ordered a 6 WING dinner and waited for my order off to the side. The wait was about 15mins which I was fine with. During this 15min wait 3 other customers had come in and experienced the same welcome I received from the blaring TV. Like me, they also had to repeat themselves many times along with asking the employee to repeat himself many times. I received my food and was headed back to work to enjoy some chicken I was anxiously waiting for. Once I was settled I opened the bag to find tenders and not the famous Harold's Chicken Wings I requested! Since I used up all of my lunch break I could not go back to have the order fixed. The tenders were the same as anywhere else and not what I wanted for dinner that day. I'll assume if the TV and music had been at a reasonable volume that my order would have been correct. This Harold's location is completely hit or miss, sometimes it meets the standard expected from a Harold's Chicken Shack and other times it's the worse chicken ever breaded an fried. Ask for it fried hard, sometimes you get exactly the opposite. Ask for 2 jalapenos and sometimes you just won't get them, even though you paid for em and they confirm at the register that they're in the bag. Told your order will be ready in 20 minutes and sometimes that means 45 minutes. Sometimes its fried in fresh oil golden brown and crispy and other times it taste like week old chicken out the microwave.
