This unassuming diner is well worth the try. If you're looking for a cheers type atmosphere this is not your place however. They are friendly, but they are very businesslike. Once you get past that though they do almost everything well. I have never been disappointed by the food. I love the skin on french fries! The gyro plate is huge. And the hotdog special can't be beat. Often there is a wait to order. It doesn't really matter usually because they put the food out so fast. A quick note: I have been seeing the same faces at this place for years. It's a good feeling to know that I am supporting a local establishment with local roots. I really don't understand what the hype is about this place. I really don't. I came and bought two cheeseburgers, a country farm steak sandwich, a grilled chicken sandwich and a large fry. Nicky's has decent prices. I guess that's why alot of people like Nicky's. But those prices also explains the lack of quality in their food. The fresh cut fries were good. The mayo, lettuce, tomato combo on the grilled chicken sandwich is fresh and tasty. But the chicken itself is not "grilled" nor is it seasoned. As a matter a fact, no meat had any seasoning on it. All patties on the sandwiches are the frozen low grade kind. They must have a surplus of onions, nor do they know how to cut them and they don't know how to cut tomatoes. You can forget about kissing anybody after eating these onions. They are more onions on the sandwich than the meat itself. When I read "country farm steak" I thought for a moment there "Ponderosa" or somebody. Boy, was I wrong there. That meat was worse than Steakum! And what exactly is it because it is not a "steak" of any kind in my mind??? Updating my previous review from six years ago. Back then, I said my drawbacks were it being cash only and having off brand drinks. Neither thing is true anymore as they accept card and have name brand soft drinks now. The lady that takes your order is always very kind to me and the food is always piping hot. I've driven by this place multiple times going to and from work and decided to give it a try. I ordered the gyro plate, gyro sandwich w/fries and an extra sauce. The food looked delicious and I was excited to try it, but the food was inedible! The gyros were too salty and fries too greasy!! Been coming here for years food is always good places usually busy during lunch never had a complaint on the taste or the quality of the food but something I noticed today was an extra charge. I decided to give this place a try, I pass it often. We ordered the Gyro platter, which is $11.99. The platter comes with what looks like 2 pounds of meat, two pitas, sauce, and a large order of hand cut fries. This platter is HUGE. It's literally enough food for probably 3 people. We also ordered the large Greek salad. Which was $5.69. It was also very delicious and filling. The third thing we ordered was the big baby cheeseburger. It was $3.69 and was also a good size burger. I've been in Crestwood for 10 years now and Nicky's has always been a favorite cheat meal of mine. I would love to give it 5 stars but there are some legitimate health risks they need to fix before I willingly go back. The prices are very fair for the amount of food you get and it always tastes great for the most part, aside from cold soggy fries. I don't know if I've ever gotten hot fries from this place. Bottom line is the line cooks should be wearing gloves. I was actually becoming repulsed watching one of the cooks stick his bare hands in the tomatoes, then the pickles, then the onions and throw everything onto a hot dog he's holding with his other bare hand. Honestly I could care less about C-19 but I spent many MANY years working in the food industry and this is just gross. I don't care how well you washed your hands that's a health code violation every way you look at it. Further more that was 2 days ago and my husbands and my stomach has not been right since that meal. You can actually look at pictures posted from other reviews on yelp and see the exact same guy not wearing gloves while handling the food. Do better, its not hard at all. Side note, the woman who works the front is a total rockstar. I hope this gets corrected so we can come back eventually. read more

I have never been disappointed by this Nicky's. It has always been a rare treat for the past decade i've known about it. Has an old-fashioned though friendly ambiance that really lends itself well to the quality of the food; you can tell this place has been in business so long for a reason. I usually get the 3 hot dogs with a large fry and a Pepsi (or a shake instead, rarely), but from what i've been told by friends and family, their hamburgers are spectacular and their shrimp is also pretty good. The hot dogs are always cooked just right, the fixings are always fresh, the fries are probably some of the best you can get around (i dont know if it's the oil or what but the taste is unbeaten). the pepsi is... pepsi, and the shakes are always great. I would highly reccomend going to Nicky's if you want nothing more than high quality, greasy food for a good price. read more

I don't know what the big deal is with this place. A number of times I've gone here and the food is consistently crappy. They sell a lot of 'big baby' hamburgers, but I don't know why? Have you really looked at the meat patty on one of those? They're completely dry. I think they pre-cook the meat and then re-heat it when it's ordered. It's not juicy at all. I also order the chicken on a pita and again, I think they pre-cook the meat because the chicken was very dry and tough. I could hardly chew it and I threw out the uneaten portion. I have been here a couple of times and I will admit that I like to dine here. Basically I have only eaten two things here, hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches. Both types of sandwiches are fairly big in size and with a order of fries you got a meal to satisfy. One thing I have noticed is that once you place your order, the food is delivered fairly quick. Even the place looks big from the outside, they only have seven tables to eat at. So at lunch type there are times that there is no where to sit down. Today meal was hot dogs and fries. The fries here are fresh cut and are cooked perfectly and not much salt. The hot dogs are good and hot, but being a hot dog fanatic, I do miss the poppy seed bun, natural casing dog, peppers, and celery salt. I have had the beef sandwich before and it is a meal in itself. All in all, two dogs, fries and a large drink were had for just under eight dollars. Will repeat when I'm back in the area. read more
