This was our second visit to Tio's and we decided to explore the menu a bit more. Our first visit…read morewas excellent, we shared the veggie sampler and the chicken shawarma wrap. Highly recommended both. This visit we tried the mansaf and tepsi with salmon. My fiance is Palestinian and was excited to see if the mansaf tasted like his mom's. He ate the dish with great appreciation as it indeed did remind him of the dish he ate back home. I really enjoyed the vibrancy and flavor of the tepsi. I'm an eggplant and tomato fan so it really hit the spot. My fiance also loved the falafel and said it tasted like his mom's as well! The highlight of our meal was the knafeh!! we have searched for a good version all over the bay. This one is the very best!! The service at Tio's is beyond. From the first visit we were welcomed and felt like we came home for a meal with family. Juan has an amazing story we really enjoyed learning about him and his restaurant. He sent us off with the most delicious homemade baklava to go with our leftovers. We both agreed this was the best baklava in the Bay as well! We are so thankful to the team at Tio's for making delicious food and all being super attentive during our stay. We have found a new favorite place to come and have many mint teas and comfort!

sultan b eating this kebab UP!! it is so yummy. food is 10/10 no matter what you order (except…read moredesserts). service is quick and lines are longer than my dead fried hair. it was pretty affordable (what even is affordable in the bay) but idk because other people paid for my meal since i'm broke! yay! location - pretty easy to find its in like a business plaza thing. they have indoor and outdoor seating but i hate sitting outdoors because the wind blows my hair into the food and then i eat my hair ew food - my group tried the flatbread and dip platter thing as well as the chicken shawarma, falafel, kebab, and lamb. all stunners no suckers. portions not bad the rice is amazing i'm pretty sure they cook it in some sort of stock, it's very aromatic. salad is great, i love chewing on raw green stalks like a cow 10/10 flatbread is okay, a bit doughy and not as puffy/light as i prefer. also on the sweeter side and does not seem to be made fresh to order but i personally don't care. i am here for the protein 7/10 meats were supermazingtacular! doused in flavor, tender, juicy. lamb shawarma does not have that despicable slightly irony lamb taste! that is a win in my book! chicken shawarma is awesome and kebab is very well seasoned. i think everything here is probably drowned in sumac or SOMETHING idk it is so addictive and i ate a lot 10/10 falafel is also good, soft inside, crispy outside, not grainy. great with their slightly average flatbread and hummus 9/10 SPEAKING OF HUMMUS yum!!! super smooth and refreshing. i do like their baba ghanoush more tho. dips are all great! 9/10 we also tried some desserts which...no comment (in a bad way sorry guys). i am not taking away a star because i am a nice funny person but hot damn these were sweet. at the first bite my tastebuds rolled back to diabetes. why are these so sickeningly sweet like they would taste so much better lightly sweetened. or maybe we got the wrong desserts idk...we got the coconut/pomegranate dessert, chocolate/pistachio, burma/pistachio, and the nice guy added a few of the tulumba things (i think?). all of them had amazing flavors that were overpowered by the sugar content. the burma thing was my favorite just because it was the least sweet and i suspected some cardamom which is yum 6/10 service/ambiance - service is great very efficient, lots of seating, cute rainbow umbrellas hanging upside down on the ceiling. what more could you ask for (besides more money) 10/10 anyway worth a visit but if you want dessert just ask them for their less sweet ones. or maybe don't. maybe some people want to inhale sugar and you know what...you do you girliepop!

When seated after ordering, we were served with the signature Afghan bread with delicious spicy dipping sauce. The owner I presume also introduced us to two lovely dishes. One with potato in a flat bread and the other was a butter nut squash. They were both served with a creamy yogurt. My wife and I ordered the trio Kabob and the eggplant dish. Highly recommended. The meats are so tender! Out of all the Persian places I have experienced the chicken at this establishment is the best! The beef even more! The dessert was heaven... If you want a true Afghan foodie experience, this is the place to go to in the Bay Area! Can't wait to try the other dishes!
