You will be over the Moon with this place. Small place well a hidden gem for great Indian and Pakistan food. Yes is behind a big shopping center in the corner of other, shopping center. Take about a hidden gem! The place is small it sits about 50 . The food is on point .! They have a nice and affordable menu ranging form curry , chicken, lamb etc. Bbq dishes , and a great vegetarian options , they have Indian style raps (slimmer to a pita ) fill with goods form meat veggies and a killer sauce;). The counter in the front also sale array for Indian sweets fill with delicious dates, dfruits ,sweet rose jams and nuts . This place get great food for a great price and service is good . Chicken tikka masala- chicken is a little dry Saag paneer - can taste the spinach. Not too creamy Aloo gobi- can taste the spices Comes with rice or naan Will come again

Stopped by Moon Indian Cuisine in Hayward for lunch and went with their Lunch Special #3 - Chicken Tikka Masala Combo, upgrading to garlic naan. The chicken tikka masala was flavorful and comforting with a nicely balanced tomato-based sauce. Creamy without being overly heavy. The chicken was tender and well portioned. The combo also comes with rice, dal, and vegetable of the day, which made it a filling and well-rounded lunch. The garlic naan was a solid upgrade, soft, warm, and nicely garlicky. Pricing for the lunch special is very reasonable for the amount of food you get, especially if you're craving Indian food during the workday. Service was quick and efficient, making it a good spot for a casual lunch. Overall, a satisfying lunch spot with good value and consistent flavors. I'd definitely come back to try other combos on the menu.

Butter chicken was more like chicken tikka masala in flavor and had a very mild chilli level. I wouldn't call it butter chicken. Ordered this over chicken tikka masala thinking butter chicken would have no chilli since someone in my party is very sensitive to spicy foods. I wouldn't mind getting this again for myself. Chicken karahi was tasty and the chicken was tender. Not amazing but I wouldn't mind getting it again. Fish masala was initially good but over time got too salty for me. I would pass on this. Sweet lassi was good, not too sweet, not too thick and not too runny. Wouldn't mind getting it again although I typically go for mango lassi. We were told that each entree came with naan so asked for garlic naan with each entree. Found out after I left and checked the receipt that we were actually charged for the garlic naan. We ordered a side of naan in addition to the "included" naan since there were 4 of us and thought that the amount of naan included with the entree was a single serving. The "included" naan was indeed single serving and the side of naan was more like 2-3 servings. Looking at the receipt, they up charged $1.30 for garlic naan per entree. I wish they were more transparent instead of being surprised on the bill. Their menu should say plain naan included. Service was really slow to order and to receive the bill. We had to flag them down for the bill only to be told that we need to go to the register. They charge a ~3% fee to pay for card payments.

I ordered the lunch special because I thought it was a bang for your buck.. just to enjoy barely half of the plate. To start off, I ordered on the phone and when I picked it up the service was quick. Nice staff! The plate really turned me off. The vegetables lacked flavor and the lentils were slimy. I tasted more of the cream in the butter chicken than the spices which made it hard for me to enjoy. The naan was my #1 from this order, great size! Overall, I hope this was just an off day because the price is so good and I still see potential despite the cons I endured. But with my experience my rating would be a solid 2.3/5

After 10 years, Moon is still one of the best value (dollar vs quality) Indian places in the bay. Food isn't always consistent (spice level, balanced flavors, oiliness), which is noticeable when we only order the same things every time, but good enough. Things we like: butter chicken (tastes more like chicken tikka masala but that's fine), okra masala, daal, biriyani (inconsistent in flavor sometimes), samosa, and all their chaat--not recommended for takeout as they get mushy. Post COVID we haven't dined in, but takeout is quick and free chai when dine in is a plus. Including updated menus.

I have been eating here for at least 10 years; the food is fresh and tasty Recently they upped their sweets game and offer a wider variety of Indian sweets and snacks The Jalebis are made fresh daily. I usually get the lunch specials for variety and value

I use to buy My Lamb Biryani and among other stuff at Kabila Restaurant, but the recent poor service I had with Kabila had led me to Moon Indian Cuisine. Everything I ordered in Moon Indian Cuisine was Excellent. The Tricky Part was the Lamb Biryani the plastic plate look small but actually has huge generous amounts. Moon Indian Cuisine is my new gem. Goodbye Kabila Restaurant and your poor Customer Service.

My favorite place to order Indian food in the east bay! Customer service here is quick and seamless -- They are really hospitable and quick to refill glasses of water. Very attentive and ready to add any additions and make suggestions if you want to try new things. Only positive things to say about their customer service. Butter chicken is a must, but the goat curry is perfection -- Butter chicken here does not miss. Has perfect balance of spices and ghee. Pair it with garlic naan and that's already a fire meal. Also ordered goat curry and lamb vindaloo. Not a fan of the potatoes but there was not much. The meat portions are always really high. EACH dish comes with rice but keep in mind, it's a lot of rice. THE wings are a must try too. So much flavor and affordable. Overall, well worth the visit. This place also has a plethora of desserts ready to buy too!

    Jalebi
    Aabhas S.

Called them before driving over 40 minutes to ask if their jalebi is fresh, told it's fresh. Drive over and ask again before ordering - told to wait 10 minutes so they can get me fresh jalebi. Handed a box of cold (and what tastes like pretty rancid) jalebi. Ask the cashier how jalebi (deep fried dough) can be fresh and cold at the same time. Told that "fresh" just means "not old" so I guess they have me dead to rights on pedantics. The rest of the food looked good (didn't try it), but if you're in the market of fresh jalebi this isn't it.

Chicken Kabob and rice and garlic bread

My stomach is very sensitive. I order the chicken kabob plain without sauce and the rice and the garlic bread. I had a mango drink as well. The service was excellent and Moon and his wife are the nicest people in the world. The servers are very kind and I give the service 10 stars!! Thank you moon for being a great part of our community.

Sometimes during our endless pursuit of culinary happiness we find hidden gems that surprise even us. This was NOT one of those occasions. The reviews were quite deceiving compared to what we experienced. Located in a 'less desirable part of Hayward, on what is now a dead end street (chain link fences block the road now) tucked behind commercial businesses and next to residential, they do have a very small parking area next to the restaurant. Inside is a 'sweets counter' and a handful of tables along each wall. There was one family at one of the tables. We asked to sit outside in their relatively new enclosed outdoor patio area. You access this by exiting the restaurant door, and immediately opening the patio door. Odd, but I get the logistics. Our server was nice if not practically silent. On to the food: Palak Paneer - not bad, but very bland. We have had much better elsewhere Chili Chicken - We requested their "extra spicy" for this dish. It was just ok Lamb Vindaloo - For this we requested "spicy" yet it was clearly mild. BIG issue for me was that they served us goat meat, not lamb... I know the difference. VERY unhappy with this issue. What was missing from the two meat dishes (goat meat aside) was any depth in flavor. Just adding heat to a dish does not create depth. It just makes it hot. Something was missing from each of them that would bring the flavors out. Each dish included either naan or rice, so with three dishes we had 2 rice sides and one naan side. The naan was plain and tough (think a grilled tortilla). Scratch this one off our list as there are so many other incredible Indian restaurants out there.

This weekend we visited moon restaurant me and my family enjoyed there buffet in the out door patio. The food was amazing and the server I believe his name was raj or raja helped us with the Buffet and he also recommended more from inside the kitchen which we tried their sizzlers the malai paneer was perfectly cooked and seasoning was just perfect. This restaurant has always been a hot pick for us but this buffet has made this restaurant choice a must!

He seemed snappy when I asked to bring the roti first as an appetizer...(we were hungry) and he just said "it's coming". And sure enough we didn't get it as an appetizer but came with the rest of the food. Here is where the negative experience begins. We got a lamb curry when we ordered a lamb biryani. Instead of apologizing for the mix up, the server took no responsibility and said it was our fault for saying the wrong thing. I said there was absolutely NO way we said the wrong thing. He still tried to argue and say he repeated the order twice (he didn't). I said look man, it's not my fault you messed up, we would never order that. Then, we got the mixed tandoori grill and there was a HUGE hair sticking straight up. I didn't get to snap a picture. This server really asked if we wanted another one... He did eventually say his bad for the mix up and did bring us another naan basket for free so I give him credit for trying to make it right after the fact. But then the check came and he bypassed the tip after I tapped. He said, "the tip is for the restaurant, I only take cash." Like wow, not even the opportunity for me to tip the restaurant? And to expect everyone to only tip cash for him? Food was for sure amazing but this server really needs to get trained on service. To not give the customer an opportunity to tip the restaurant is unfair for the workers. Edit: I had to take another star off because when I got home to eat our leftovers I found ANOTHER hair literally embedded in our chicken! Absolutely disgusting...
