A non-assuming Irish pub but was greeted by a very welcoming bartender/waitress; this young woman did EVERYTHING!! She was IMPRESSIVE!!! The decor is your typical bar type decoration. The bar was embellished with Irish flags, Irish Quotes, and had bench like seating. We ordered fish and chips, Irish nachos, western burger and Reuben sandwich. All were amazing. We were very pleasantly surprised and was happy with our pick for our lunch spot. Kudos to young lady who handled a room full of patrons and kept a smile on her face. They have indoor and outdoor seating- but this day found us inside. She knows the choices inside out and is happy to guide if asked. We had a simple fish sandwich w/fries and a corned beef on rye with house made chips. The chips were just made-- warm, light, and crispy with a fresh potato taste. Corned beef was sliced medium and was very very moist. The rye was grilled and toasty adding a crisp contrast to the soft and savory meat. The fish sandwich was excellent-- possibly the best my husband had ever had (his words). Went on a Saturday late afternoon. The restaurant smelled like bathroom, we sat down at a table and waitress came over in about 5 min. I will say the food tasted a lot better than I thought it would. My turkey for the turkey club was a little weird texture wise. The fries were very very good!! If you like dive bars, this is your place. I love this spot. It's such a vibe. Irish pubs are usually my go to, this one was perfect. It's hidden down a street which makes it even more special. Its so cozy inside, it draws you in to stay. This bar is the real Irish deal. If your going for a modern cool bar with fancy drinks...this isn't your place. The bar always plays classic songs and mixes in some Irish songs. I'll admit, the bar is pretty cozy, and the staff are very friendly people. But aside from that, this is without a doubt the worst Irish meal my wife and I have ever had. And my wife is Irish herself, so we know what we're talking about. First of all, the jalapeño poppers sucked; like, not even Jason from The Good Place would be able to tolerate them. Poppers have only two flipping ingredients: jalapeños and cream cheese (and maybe some bacon). But what did they do? They filled our poppers with Cheez Whiz. I repeat, they put Cheez Whiz in their poppers instead of cream cheese. Wtf? And then came our entrees; yikes. I ordered a Guinness stew, a classic Irish dish. It looked appetizing enough at first, but then I tried a piece of beef. It was drier than the Sahara desert, which is mind-boggling because IT'S A FLIPPING STEW! This dish was clearly nuked in the microwave or convection oven. Honestly, it was the same quality one would get at a school cafeteria. As for my wife Stacey's bangers and mash, I'll hand the review over to her. "Scorched "bangers," inauthentic beans. The gravy was bad enough that I was unwilling to touch the potatoes. The dish was lukewarm, and the anathema of it all was that the staff had no idea what brown sauce was. I refused to eat it. Don't ever bring me a burnt banger with no brown sauce" Thank you, Stacey. Indeed, I agree, and I'm disappointed. This town has such a large, rich Irish community; this substandard food and lack of brown sauce (which is NOT gravy) is an insult to them, and to me. If we want legit Irish cuisine, we'll either go to Friar Tuck's or make it our damn selves. I need a drink. read more

My wife and I visited Harp & Hound together. If you can find parking it is well worth the effort. We had the Reuben fritters and fried pickles which were amazing! They tasted and appeared to be house made. My wife had the fish and chips which came with two meaty pieces of fresh, beer battered cod. I had the mushroom Swiss burger which was juicy and excellent. My burger came with very nice house made chips (choice of fries or chips). There are plenty of great draft options too. The atmosphere is very rustic. A great Irish pub experience. I received a gift certificate for Christmas to this place. My wife and I decided to give it a try on a Tuesday night. I was impressed that it was so busy on a Tuesday and thought that we would have a great experience. Well, to my dismay was that the bartender was the only visible staff working. She was working hard to keep up with the drink orders and while I waited patiently to speak with her, she stated that she would be with me in a minute. After about 10-15 minutes, my wife and I left. We ended up at another establishment downtown and had a great meal. I won't waste my time going back here as it's apparent that it's understaffed. Ordered the curry wings and jalapeño poppers to start. Ok. The wings were no my kinda wing but I had to try them. The poppers were well ok for frozen. We both ordered the hound bite. Burger with corn beef. Cooked to order. The FF's were good and so were the black & tan onion rings. Big portion. My husband did try the duck fart which he enjoyed. What's not to enjoy in this shot, which was a layer of Kahlúa bailies, and topped with Irish whiskey. Very little Irish whiskey in this shot but nevertheless it was good. For a "Irish bar" very disappointed in the lack of Irish whiskey. I only saw 3. ??!! Received the bill and noticed a 10.00 mistake. She quickly changed her mistake and took care of it promptly. I'm glad we circled back after a brief walk. Our waitress was super friendly and smiled a lot. We got our menus and made our picks. My husband ordered the Hound Dog (which I'd been considering) so I got fish & chips. I forgot to try his. :'( Mine was light and crispy.
