When checking in I asked the person if she could recommend a veterinarian, she gave her veterinarian's name. Dr. Mark Hoffman of the Weatherford animal hospital. We made the call and had her in his office within the hour. The prognosis was not good. We increased the medication she was on in hopes of improvement. Her condition worsened the next day. We had to make the dreaded decision no pet owner likes to make and put her down. We cannot thank Dr. Hoffman and his staff enough for their kindness and care towards her and us. We have used the boarding services at Western Prairie about 8-10 times this year. We travel quite a…read morebit on the weekends to OKC, WINSTAR Casino in Thackerville and Dallas and the staff treats our Benny so well that it just makes sense to leave him in their living care. They know and greet him by name and he is always ecstatic upon his return. Benny has also had the vet services a few times and gets his medications for flea and heart work here so this clinic takes care of us without fail. When Benny had a food allergy and broke out in hives he went through his medicated body spray quickly and we didn't have to make another vet appt. to get a refill. There's been times when they have performed mini vet checkups while he's there for boarding and/grooming and the rate is very low. Overall it's just so convenient. Western Prairie has very caring staff and I am happy to use them for all our pet needs.

The second, my dog contracted ring worm from her stay with Heartland. My husband called to confront them about the ring worm and they quietly dismissed it without so much as an apology. I, of course, was not about to take her back to them for treatment! Bad business practice to allow an otherwise healthy dog to come into contact with an unhealthy contagious animal (the lobby is filled with various dogs and a shedding sleepy cat that is permitted to roam freely), especially if the intent is to generate business by making a healthy animal sick in order to then treat it. I am extremely disappointed in the cleanliness and the lack of professional decorum here at Heartland Animal Hospital, and will not be trusting them with the care and safety of our animals again! I would further discourage anyone else from trusting their animals with this vet either, especially since ring worm is going around the clinic unacknowledged. Who knows what other diseases and contagions are floating around their unsanitary establishment? Better safe than sorry in this instance.
