I like this store, i've been here quite a few times with my friend. We usually come here late at night around 2am, when the store is practically empty. We can take our time and shop. Though their produce is a bit expensive but it actually tastes very fresh and better than a lot of the other grocery stores. They also have a good selection of artisan breads and fresh prepared meals or frozen foods to go. As i am a big pizza guy, I usually get their frozen pizza to take home. The store is huge and always kept clean and organized. The staff and management are very nice and will go out of their way to assist you and that's very good customer service! Not to mention the free sugar cookies you get at checkout! I know they are for kids...what can i say I'm a kid at heart or at least when it comes to cookies :) This is definitely one of my go to stores! read more

I've been coming here to return my Red Box rentals, buy scratch off lotto tickets and buy small items for my stay in the area. At first I thought, I can't think of a worse name for a supermarket. I'm reading this off their website: co-founded in 1960 by North Carolina grocers W.T. Harris and Willis Teeter. Harris Teeter operates over 220 stores and one fuel center in eight states and the District of Columbia. So two buds opened a grocery store and over the years built a chain with over 220 stores. Feeling over-ambitious, I walked to this HT from my relatively nearby hotel. Needless to say I pulled an ultimate rookie traveler move and not only left my debit card at my hotel, but was standing at the self-checkout counter with a dead cell phone and $80+ awaiting payment. After a reasonable amount of time for an unreasonable request, a manager was explained my flub and allowed me to use a charger (before purchasing) to charge my phone. With it no longer dead, I was able to quickly pay for my suspended purchases (including roses for a 7am cemetery visit the next day) due to the conveniences of technology that had been stripped from me mere moments before. TL;DR: I had a minor crisis at this HT and the crisis was averted due to emotional intelligence possessed by the staff. I left with a good feeling for my first time in DC... kind of like when I got free cookies at HT growing up in NC. read more

This is our go to Harris teeter since the bf lives close. We make weekly stops here for our weekend meals and snacks. I hate how the parking lot is so dark. It makes me feel uneasy walking back to the car with groceries when I can barely see. Thank goodness I never have to go alone here. Our HT runs are pretty quick now that I know where all the aisles. Its always hard to find items when you don't know where they put it. Don't you just hate that feeling when you walk into a new grocery store? There are two floors here where the top floor has the medication, birthday cards, and cosmetic items and downstairs is all groceries. Theres an elevator so you can just bring your whole cart up. Don't be the jerk that leaves their cart in front of the stairs and blocks the staircase. I also love HT because they have the buy two get three specials or something along those lines. Not sure why I would need 5 bags of cheese or 5 tubs of ice cream but man what a deal! If you have a large family and the space to store it all then why not? Its also nice that they have two Redbox machines so there are a lot more options to choose from. Some HT brand items we enjoy are the sparking waters and the yogurt (keto friendly). read more

I'm very disappointed at this store. I was looking for some gluten free bread and I was happy to see there was good options at this location. I was not happy with the fact that the bread was with green mold. I was in a rush since I had people waiting for me at home. I did not had the chance to call a manager. I love this particular location. My dentist is located next to it, so I usually get some light food before I get in for my appointments. It's big and organized with lots of vegan and organic options. Staff are friendly and asks if you need help if they see you wondering around. Good selection of wine and buffet for hot and cold plates. Love it!!! read more

This place is consistent and clean. My go to grocery stores in North Arlington are : Trader Joe's,Harris Teeter and Whole Foods. Unfortunately I have odd hours so you can find me doing my grocery shopping at 2 AM. This works out good for me because I hate buying groceries in a packed store. I don't mind paying a little extra for this convenience,it better than driving to the ghetto Shoppers Food Warehouse any time. This Harris Teeter is usually consistent. The produce is a little more expensive than Joes. However it definitely reigns superior to the ghetto Safeway in Rosslyn,which can actually be more expensive! Usually when I stop here I just buy sodas and items and sale items to VIC card holders. Their produce is pretty fresh and looks nice. I also like this place because they have planted fresh herbs. I buy these potted and they keep for up to nine months as long as I remember to water them. ;). This is great since I hate buying herbs that are just going to die in a week. I haven't bought much of the meat here. I guess it looks okay. I'm not much of a carnivore, plus I have no idea how to prepare meat any way. They have an good dairy selection. They carry an organic milk that keeps for over a month with a decent price. The only major cons to this place is there cheese. There's a good collection of cheese with an okay quality. However it's kind of on the expensive side. I guess I'll have to save my cheese shopping for Trader Joe's. The prepared meals at Harris Teeter look pretty good. I'm a sucker for their turkey and brie. The staff at the deli and bakery a pretty helpful. They have a few artisan bread as well that are good as well. All in all this is a pretty good reliable store. It's clean and you won't find a bunch of smashed fruit on the ground. The staff is decent enough. Another score is there is ample and safe parking. This is now my new Harris Teeter of choice, being that I live in Arlington now. With that being said, it faces stiff comparisons to the excellent Teeter in Tysons, and even the one in Herndon (which I used to live by and liked a lot). As a whole, it stacks up well. Parking lot is big enough, and even during after-work hours, I can easily find a spot. The parking lot is right next to a Benz dealer, and I get to park right behind shiny new Benz's and dream of the day I can have one. The inside of the Teeter is odd; I am not a fan of the layout. However, they have a second floor for the cosmetics/pharmacy/health goods/wine. You can also see out over the main floor. That's pretty cool. Despite the not-so-ergonomic layout, I still like this Teeter. I suppose I would have to, since there isn't a closer one around, but that's not the point. Close or not, this is a fine Teeter that gets the job done. read more

Unlike some other locations this Harris Teeter does not have a hot bar, but it does have a cold salad bar and prepackaged hot food, as well as 3 hot soup choices. They also have store brand venus razor replacement blades 4 pk for $6.99 which is SUPER cheap--they are often like $22 for name brand. They have buckets of 8 pc fried chicken as well as whole rotisserie chckens for $5.99, but the fried chicken bucket lids are not secure and the chicken spills out into the cart and grocery bag. They need to tape the lid shut or get a better fitting lid..I believe this is was the first Harris Teeter in Virginia, it will be replaced in the next year or so with a brand new store in a brand new building. This location has 2 stories with the drug store stuff and pharmacy on the second floor along with pet food, floral, wine and beer, home repair and electric, and school/office supplies. There is an elevator an stairs to the 2nd floor. This location is walking distance to Ballston Metro and Ballston Quarter shopping, the Arlington Central Library, and many restaurants. They sell Bone Suckin Sauce barbeque sauce, which is almost imposslible to find elsewhere in the area. read more

I used to come to this store at least once a week to do my grocery shopping. I loved it - lots of good selection and I think fresher produce than the Giant up the street. They have a good sandwich counter with good deals. I think it beats Subway because they provide more deli meat in the sandwich, and you're probably paying about the same price for bigger and better quantity. The sushi selection is decent too, and I have seen them making it fresh. This location has an upstairs section which is the pharmacy/typical CVS products and the wine and beer selection. I'm pretty satisfied going to this store and I'll typically get good deals with the VIC card that I have. That's a definite must if you shop here frequently. I did read some other reviews about the check out process and I agree that sometimes it can be challenging due to the configuration. However, Harris Teeter does a good job at having more registers open compared to some other stores, so I am happier about that fact. Parking can sometimes be a struggle, but be prepared to not have a spot during typical high peak shopping times like evenings and weekends especially Sunday afternoon. If you live in the Ballston area, I recommend walking if you are able. Overall I've been a satisfied customer. I appreciate the quality of fresh products and customer service at checkout. I quite like Harris Teeter. I feel like quality has gone down since the Kroger buyout, but they definitely beat Safeway. I'd rank them slightly lower than Giant, but they're still good for what they are. This visit, I bought two sandwiches from the deli. I ordered from the mobile app and went in a few minutes later. Only then did they actually get around to the order: one veggie wrap, and one full tuna sub. The veggie wrap was done somewhat timely, but the tuna took forever. I'm not blaming the lady behind the counter - she was working solo, was under the weather, and looked like she should be at home caring for her cold. It appears like she was forced to come in. Don't get me wrong, she was nice and helpful and all, but she shouldn't have had to work today. With that being said, there wasn't any tuna in the deli, so she came to the shelf outside and looked for it. No dice. She went to the back, saying the delivery just came and it may have some tuna inside. Still no. So the order was changed to chicken. It didn't take much longer after that. Still, I placed my online order at 4:45 pm and the timestamp on my receipt is 5:15 pm. I like my HT veggie wraps and their reasonable price (when they charge me correctly), but 30 minutes for two items is absolutely ridiculous. They ought to fix their staffing and inventory. At checkout, a cashier shooed me to another lane. The queues were long and slow. Shockingly, I was charged correctly for my veggie wrap today. The cashier gave me some hassle trying to use Apple Pay, saying it will probably decline (some eyes were rolled); this must be Kroger management's way of trying to discourage people from paying by phone. NFC will probably be turned off eventually, but at least let me enjoy it while it lasts? Two stars. read more

The ladies working at the deli counter are SUPER nice and friendly even when the line builds up and they are quick to make sure you know they see you and are working quickly. Manager once went into the back storage area to get my wife and I a specific type of ice cream when they were changing all the aisles and storage. Doing well with covid. I love that this Harris Teeter is so large, so clean and so convenient. I popped in to grab some white wine after the last day of school. to chillax with my teacher friends. Separating the alcohol from the rest of the food items is a great idea. With this location so close to my school, I don't want my students or their parents seeing me buy boxes of wine... let me live..haha. Open 24 hours, which is a big plus if you have a busy or irregular schedule. We come here for all of our lunch sandwich needs. They always have at least one deli meat and one deli cheese on sale, which makes the deli affordable as long as you're not too picky about what goes into your sandwich. The proximity also makes this Harris Teeter my go-to place to get a few ingredients when I have dinner inspiration, but it's pretty expensive for everyday grocery shopping. The salad bar is also quite sparse, and doesn't have any type of meat options. OK for specific supplies, but I'd recommend driving to the nearest Giant if you're on any type of budget. read more

Oh, how I love my grocery store. I feel like such a snooty shob shopping here. If the Giant at Virginia Square is IHOP, this place is Komi. If a product on sale is out of stock, you can always get a raincheck for it. This comes in handy two months later, when you want some Ben and Jerry's Cinnamon Bun ice cream, but CRAP, that stuff's expensive. Joy of joys! You can get 2 pints for $6 thanks to your raincheck! The breads here are great. The butterflake rolls are dangerously addictive. My roommate swears by the muffins: he actually takes them with him when he goes out of town because he simply cannot go more than a day or two without his beloved muffins. Plenty o' sampling in the produce/deli/bakery section. I love smearing three types of breads w/three types of spreads. The store always seems to have plenty of carb-loaded samples to team with spreads or with the hunks of sampled meat found nearby at the deli counter. Make yourself a mini sandwich. Mm. But about that deli counter... Why are there only, like, two people working behind it? And why are they always so slow? It takes 5-10 min. to get half a lb. of rosemary ham. Good think that ham is really, really, really, really good--otherwise the wait wouldn't be worth it. The staff is always friendly and helpful--if you can find someone wandering the aisles. There are always people behind the counters, but if you're having trouble finding something, it can be a challenge to track someone down to help you find what you need. We came here to get groceries and wine for our weekend getaway. The grocery store is a normal store with all the necessities. The lines weren't too long and the service was quick. The salmon was exceptionally fresh! The only complaint we had is the wine prices! We paid double the amount. Alright careful consideration and time spent going back to give them a chance to redeem themselves as I got a lot of flack over this review. I have upgraded them to 3 stars and here is what changed my mind about them. The Flower department - they get in fresh flowers every Monday and Friday. I was not feeling so good one Monday morning and one of the girls in my office treated me to some flowers. They were just what I needed to cheer me up and change my mood, I of course told her she should not have spent so much money on flowers! She then admitted she didn't she had gotten them over at HT. I was shocked as the bouquet was wonderful, well cut and in very good shape to have come from a grocery store I thought. They lasted all week before they started to turn. I was so surprised that I stopped on my way home on Friday to treat myself to some more wonderful flowers. (reminder to self you need to treat yourself to flowers more often) They had just received a new batch of flowers in and I had a wide selection to chose from and the prices were great 3 for $10.00. So I picked out my 3 and the young lady behind the counter offered to put them all together for me into one bouquet and off I went home on the metro. Several people stopped to say what beautiful flowers I had and I had to share that I had got them at HT in Ballston. So Congrats HT on the flower selection. The other thing that changed my mind was that I have been on this kick of not eating processed food for lunch. Trying to be somewhat healthy (no comments on the cheese consumption Kevin L.) So 3 days a week I have been stopping on my way in to work and picking up fresh made sushi from the sushi counter. Granted its not Sushi Sushi or Sushi Taro but its decent for the price. The guys make it fresh every other day and if you come in and ask for something special and they are there during lunch time they will make it for you. ( I go around 10am and they are making it right then for the lunch crowd so I get what I want made for me) I am just a salmon or tuna roll girl, easy to eat and keeps me full till dinner time and I love the fact they will make it with brown rice for me. So kudos to the Sushi guys for helping me change my mind about HT. I still they are a bit pricey but with the price of crude going up - that effects everything so what's a girl to do! read more

After being used to going to Publix? My standard of grocery stores is way too high. But this store ALWAYS has spoiled food, and that's one thing that when I shop discourages me to get more items. Furthermore, their meat/chicken selection is TINY. It doesn't compare to most other Harris Teeters in the chain, but as far as grocery stores in this area go, it's probably the best combination of price and quality. There's a feature on their website that let's you browse the weekly specials and make a shopping list. Then you can email it to yourself and print it out or read your PDA in the store. $2.49 sandwiches. Buy 15, get the next one free. There is one woman, Jackie, who knows what she's doing and is great at it. Always super nice too. The rest of the sandwich counter staff are pretty much clueless. It's not that hard to make a ham sandwich, HT needs to retrain here. Also, you don't make a deli wrap by balling up the meat and trying to roll it burrito style. Salad bar. Pretty good early in the day. There's not much restocking of it during the day so if you're planning on a late lunch, it can start to brown. Otherwise, it's good. They actually have meat in it, which is my problem with the Whole Foods salad bar. There's also two soups and a different chili rotated each day. Don't expect ranch dressing. For whatever reason, it's only present about 1 in every 4 trips. What's the freaking problem? It's the most popular dressing in America. Come on HT. Sushi bar is good and they'll make you a custom roll at no extra charges. Like the sandwiches, there's one person in charge who knows their job. Make sure you get the guy, Satai, to make your rolls. Otherwise, I've gotten rock hard avocado slices enough times to give up on ordering it in my sushi. I really don't like sushi that's been sitting out for a while, so I always go the custom route. The house brands are good and the prepared food has never been bad. The produce is worlds better than Giant or Safeway, but still no Whole Foods. Wine selection is pretty good with reasonable prices. Buy 6 and you get a discount. The parking lot here is miserable. It's 24 hours though, so you can get in and out pretty easily if you don't mind shopping at odd hours. If you want to try it on Sunday night, it's chaos. There's also a video vending machine ($1 per night), coin counter, and pharmacy... and a free sugar cookie! I've gone to my fair share of grocery stores in my area and Harris Teeter probably wins as best. We got the most bang for our buck, it was well organized and clean. They even had corn tortillas which has been a struggle to find many places. I only wish this was within walking distance to my house and that they had conveyor belts for ringing you up. If you fill up a cart it is quite a process of them unloading and immediately scanning it. It would probably speed up the check out line. Living in Ballston, there are two grocery stores (Harris Teeter and Giant) that are the same distance from my apartment. Whenever I need to get groceries, I go to HT nine times out of 10. Why? Simply put, they have an incredible selection of food and other goodies (they're actually two stories high... more on that in a minute), which is more than most any other grocery store I've been to, well... anywhere! The store is always well-lit and clean, they have a great selection of meats and veggies, and their beer and wine selection is pretty darn comprehensive. It's also the first grocery store I've seen that's actually two stories. Upstairs, you'll find their wine shop, pharmacy, florist, and health and beauty section. There's an elevator to take you to the second floor (if you have a cart), so it might be a bit of a pain if you're loading up on food and just need to grab a bottle of shampoo before you leave. Costwise, I don't think there's anything that sets them apart from any other grocery store in the area. But the selection is tops. My verdict: unless you live right next to a Giant or Safeway, the Glebe Road HT should satisfy all your grocery shopping needs! read more

I come from years of experience at Food Lion, Winn Dixie, Kroger, and Walmart. I moved up to Ballston about two years ago and since Harris Teeter is incredibly close (I live at N Thomas and N Henderson) it has been my grocery store of choice. In the two years of coming here, I'm still not sure I've developed a solid opinion of the place. Sometimes the experience is good, sometimes it's bad. I'm pretty sure it's open 24/7 which is cool if you're a night owl or early bird wanting to shop in peace! I choose to shop at 7pm with the rest of the world (probably a mistake). The places prices are reasonable enough, cheap on some things, expensive on others. One thing I will give HT credit for is if you sign up for their membership card, they send you emails every week on things that are BOGO or have special prices. Employees aren't the most knowledgeable when it comes to finding things in the aisles but what can you do? The shelves are usually always fully stocked and they do a good job of keeping the store clean and helping you on your way. read more

This review is specially for my pharmacy experience on 8/25/2021 around 1pm. I had gone to HT on George Mason Drive. When they didn't have the prescription I needed, the pharmacist called around and let me know I could get it from this location. (She also offered to order it, I declined) When I arrived, the prescription was taken and I was asked if I wanted to wait, and it would be about 15 minutes. Upon check out, I presented the appropriate goodrx coupon (correct dose, medication and amount) for the prescription. I was told that it wasn't working, without any attempt to identify why or correct it. When I further asked about why it wasn't working (I have never had any issues with goodrx in the past) I was told there's nothing we can do, we lose money with goodrx anyway. I explained that was not anything I had to deal with as it was an agreement between HT and goodrx. Upon leaving without my prescription filled, I called goodrx, who called the store on 3 occasions to try and get the pharmacy to process the code correctly for the medication. The representative from goodrx had a similar experience where the pharmacy was unwilling to answer her questions truthfully and continued to give the rep the run around. Fortunately, I do not have to depend on HT for any prescriptions or groceries as there are plentiful options in the area, however the lack of common decency and customer service leaves a lot to be desired. There's was no effort to help rectify the situation despite the numerous attempts by my self and the goodrx rep. You would think that a company as large as HT would stand by agreements they make and want to ensure their consumers are cared for. read more
