Maria in the Bakery Department made me cry. In a very good way. My husband had told me that we needed a birthday cake for a surprise party that day. We're not bakers, so I went to Harris Teeter to see if they had a boxed cake that we could use somehow. I arrived when Maria had just opened the Bakery area and she was all alone. I saw many beautiful cakes ready in the refrigerated cases but none were perfect. I asked her if there was any way that she could add a name to one of the cakes for me. Not only did Maria do this for me quickly - she did it with a smile. The cake was perfect! She told me that she did not make the cake herself and just added the name. It was just so wonderful that I started my day with this lovely woman. She made me cry and we gave each other a hug. The cake was beautiful and delicious too! read more

Pretty standard Harris Teeter! In general, the store is well stocked and clean, and my interactions with the employees have been largely positive. The beer selection is OK (like every other Harris Teeter I've been to) and the produce is fresh. I took my Dad grocery shopping here at Harris Teeter and was very impressed with the store. The store is clean and kept up very well! The selection of products was excellent and the produce looked amazing. There was only one case register opened it appears and even self-checkout was closed, so that is the only negative aspect of this grocery store. Other than that, the prices are reasonable and Amazing. If I lived in Cary, I would make this my regular grocery store, because it is convenient and you save money as well. I rarely shop at this location, a little out of my way, but it does seem to be on par with other locations in a good way. The produce seems fresh, the employees friendly, the store is well kept, and they have a wide selection everywhere that's always well stocked. The parking lot is manageable too. I really enjoyed this Harris Teeter. It was really quiet and spacious. The layout is more of what I'm used to. It was easy to find items that I needed. I frequently visit this Harris Teeter because it's close to my home, but all around they need to step up the customer service and food quality. So far I've bought expired frozen food, a rotisserie chicken that tasted like it was a week old, and pre cut butternut squash that smelled rancid the day after I bought it. I've came back to the Customer Service desk for refunds and exchanges, but who actually wants to make that trip back to the store to complain after they have just left the store? read more

Very poor customer service. I raised my hand to get attention at self check out around 9pm. The lady with long braided hair at the customer service kept talking to another employee so I waved my hand...And she finally looked at me and said " Yeeees I am coming!!!" After years of getting coffee refills I just encountered the WORST service ever. I was denied my ice coffee refill because it was in a cup labeled "Ice " and when I talk to customer service (Princess) She was clueless on the process and deferred to an awful manager (Terry). after waiting 7-10 mins I walked out because my bag of ice o just bought was melting. Harris Teeter (HT) is a grocery chain located heavily on the east coast, especially in the south east portion of the US and headquartered outside of Charlotte, NC. While it's owned by Kroger as of 2014, it runs its operations separately and if you keep reading, you'll understand why. Kroger is experiencing plummeting sales, evidenced by their closing several stores this year (2018) and last while Harris Teeter is enjoying tremendous growth as it continues to expand in what is called, "high value communities." Yeah, that's just fancy talk for saying they are only interested in "neighborhoods where people earn lots of moolah and like to spend it at high end stores!" Even so, I love Harris Teeter grocery stores. I haven't been to one yet that disappoints, including this one. HT always comes through. I can always count on finding most of my rare food faves and that means a great deal to me and my family. That includes foods like: - A vast variety of cheeses over by the deli, - Stunning desserts in the bakery cases, - Newly released items on the shelves, - Fabulous selections in the frozen aisles, -Great sushi that can be ordered, pre-packaged or made in front of you - Show-stopping hot food like ribs, pizza and chicken - An amazing salad bar with all the salad fixings you could ask for Yes, I could go on and on because all of that and more are right there for our purchase and enjoyment. Great service is probably their motto at HT! They are one of the few markets that will still carry your groceries ot to your vehicle and refuse your offer to to tip them! (EXPERT TIP: If I ask for help on a carry out to my car, I will still offer the employee a tip and even though they will not take it, I simply express my sincere thanks. That's just simple proper etiquette, so make sure you do that too. A simple "thank you" goes a long way so make sure you use it liberally in life with others.) Going to other chains, especially large discount ones headquartered in Arkansas, are such a chore especially when you have to fight other people for space in line. It's far too stressful! Why put yourself thru all of that when you can enjoy your shopping experience at HT. And guess what? If you're in a rush, you can download the HT app and simply place an "Express Lane" order for any and EVERYTHING you want in the store right from your computer, tablet or smart phone! For example, you can place your order in the morning and pick it up, without getting out of your car, on the way home from work. Whoa, mind blown, right!? But wait, it gets even better. You can try what I do weekly and just have your HT grocery order delivered via SHIPT! You just place an order via the SHIPT app (available in the app store along with the HT app) and your order can be delivered to your FRONT DOOR in under two hours (for a very small fee)! The green t- shirt uniformed shipt personal shopper will even carry the groceries inside to your kitchen if you need help. As a disabled person, that is a tremendous help to me. Now, tell me, who can beat that? Now, let me tell you about the stores in more detail. The bakery is amazing. Check out the desserts, breads, etc. as the items are always fresh and look like they are photoshopped bc they look so perfect. No kidding! The bakery team is always so helpful & accommodating. They will even try to help you with reasonable last minute requests like personalizing a cake or icing some cupcakes. All of the other departments are equally amazing. From the butcher, the seafood counter to dry goods, the entire team is there to enhance your shopping experience. Look for different foods and give them a try! It is completely possible for a great grocery store to open your mind to new foods, cultures and products. As such, HT is just the kind of store that can do that. Another piece of advice. Get yourself a "VIC Card," for their loyalty discount program. It will save you hundreds over the course of a year. You can use your VIC card in 3 ways, in the store in person and online on both the HT & SHIPT apps. Moreover, HT will accept competitor coupons and will double the face value for kidsy coupons too! I never thought I would write a review for a grocery store, but Harris Teeter is just that good! Recently I have begun using HT's Express Lane shopping. You log in on their website, do your grocery shopping online, schedule a pick-up time, and place your order. While there is a small fee, I can definitely overlook it for the convenience and customer service. Hands down this is the best grocery store I've ever shopped at and they will continue to receive my business. read more

Lack of urgency to assist customers here. Just purchased 2 bouquets here from Ms. Happy at the florist department. Not upset that the lady in front of me purchased maybe 2 dozen lilies here, but wanted them packed in 2's. More upset that the other sales associate in the florist department was filling up balloons with paying customers waiting. Not acceptable in an environment where there's a competitor down the block. Given this level of service and poor produce quality, may be time to close up shop. read more

If I could rate this Harris Teeter store in the negative, I absolutely would. The produce such as cabbage, romaine, cucumbers are always soft, wet, and wilted. In fact, the strawberries and cherries actually have mold in each bag. The shelves have expired items each visit. The only reason I shop here is for convenience. It certainly isn't due to quality or the pricing of items. I wish Aldi were open longer hours or that Publix would open sooner. read more

This Harris Teeter has gone down hill. It's produce area is often messy, carts are often hard to find, or all in the parking lot, the staff is less experienced and less helpful than years ago, the lines are long, many times two lines open and 3 people in each line, plus the self check out is backed up. I never buy deli meat here because it takes too long. The bakery items (bread) is picked over most of the time. I know it is a busy HT, but they should staff appropriately. I get better service and more friendly smiles and shorter lines at the local Walmart. read more
