This store is our go-to store for groceries. Now if we need odds and ends at Wal-Mart, we will go next door and then pick up small stuff there, for the sake of convenience and price. But if we need quality food, we go to Harris Teeter. They have all the good stuff and the prices are not bad for beach time. read more

My #1400 review is dedicated to my daughter and son who celebrate birthdays this week. Harris Teeter stores have a strong reputation for running a clean operation. The walk into the grocery from the lot was clear of debris. The bakery area was mobbed on Easter Sunday. A birthday cake was ordered a few days in advance and ready for pick up. The woman confirmed that the writing was accurate and the cake colors correct. We did a half chocolate and half vanilla. The price was very fair at just under $40 for half sheet. Self checkout was utilized and flawless. When we got it to the beach house it was time for a party for my two children and two other family members celebrating birthdays in April. My daughter's fell on Easter Day, pretty cool. The cake was a huge hit. Both the chocolate and vanilla divine and moist. The buttercream frosting heaven. It also saved nicely the next day and tasted just as good. The Harris Teeter in Kitty Hawk is a store I would recommend, especially for their bakery department. read more

I absolutely love Harris Teeter! My boyfriend and I visited the Kitty Hawk Harris Teeter a few times while on vacation in the OBX. Every experience we had there was wonderful! Harris Teeter offers so many more product options than most grocery stores. One of my favorite things about Harris Teeter is the wide variety of choices when it comes to healthier options. In addition, the hot foods section includes many great options that are always delicious and fresh. For one of our evenings on vacation, we enjoyed taking some hot prepared foods to go and had a relaxing night in at our hotel. Not only is the food incredible, but the atmosphere at Harris Teeter is perfect. The store is huge with spacious aisles and a beautiful, clean environment. Employees are always friendly and helpful and make you really feel welcome. Overall, the best grocery shopping experiences I have are always at Harris Teeter. I would absolutely recommend shopping here over any other store, and I really hope that one day we will have a Harris Teeter in the Youngstown area! read more

This store has an issue with pricing and supplies. Signs on end caps and shelves for same product do not agree. The store is out of distilled water. HOWEVER, the Harris Teeter at 2022 S. Croatian Highway, just a little it further south has NO issue with correct pricing, and has loads of distilled water. The store personnel at store 387 blamed the pricing on lack of staffing. The lack of distilled water was that they can't get it. However, if the LARGER Harris Teeter down the road has no issue with correct signage, how is it that a smaller store does?? The store at 2022 S. Croatan Highway has loads of distilled water. The Regional Manager for these stores needs to kick 387 in line. Appears that they have an issue with ordering, and signing. Also, expired products on shelves. This STORE NEEDS ATTENTION OF A DEDICATED MANAGEMENT STAFF. read more

As a customer, it made me feel good to know the store cared enough about my experience to want to rectify the situation. This Harris Teeter is a new addition since our trip to the outer banks 2 years ago; And a great addition it is; So much better than the Food Lion across the highway (who I'm sure is not too excited about the increased competition). A perfect location, too, for incoming visitors needing to stock up on groceries: On the right, just after crossing the bridge from the mainland. It's not a gigantic store, but it had almost everything we needed. The only thing they really lacked was a decent cheese section; The most interesting cheeses we could find were goat and manchego. The wine section was pretty good though. The staff members we encountered were friendly and patient, and there seemed to be one around every corner; Very useful when you're in an unfamiliar store. read more

It was pretty awesome to be able to run into a grocery store and buy Carolina pulled pork in the deli and a loaf of French bread for my hungry husband who had to stay at the beach housing working while we had fun all day. I'm a Yankee. We don't have a Harris Teeter. I am jealous of NC residents as a result. Harris Teeter is perfect for my demographic: 30-something, single, professional. They have EVERYTHING yummy: fresh-baked bread, sauces/dips, amazing pre-packaged snack items, a fab bakery and a deli that is divine. My friends were all in love with this place, but since I'm a California snob, I wasn't. Yes, it seems better than your average Krogers/Publix/Safeway/etc. But it isn't much better. Produce: there was a small stand of a few types of produce that said how far away they were grown. Cool, but none of the tomatoes grown 70 miles away actually seemed properly ripe. Red, but not soft. Spices: this is what I needed, since I was cooking Indian. I was way underwhelmed. They didn't have the spices I needed (no whole brown mustard or whole cumin!) and they didn't have the cheap brands that don't come in jars. There were a few highlights: we had a pre-made 7-layer dip that was fabulous. But the lowlight: my friends are checking out, with some alcohol, and the cashier says to one of them: "Not to be offensive, but you're really short!" to my friend. She's about 5'. We laughed about it for the entire trip - and my friend is certainly used to short jokes - but it was really surprising it happened. read more

I really like Harris Teeter in General as I remember them from my youth while living in Atlanta, Ga. I scoped out shopping near our rental home and was happy to know this store existed. This store is bright and shiny and has lots of product in a smaller store and I liked that. If I knew my way around this store I would be in and out in 10 minutes. The seafood department was gorgeous as was the deli. This is a much better choice that the Food Lion across the street as we tried both. read more

Harris Teeter is a four star grocery store elsewhere (ie: in the Washington DC Metro Area) with stores like Whole Foods getting five stars, but since the two Harris Teeters between Kitty Hawk and Corolla are the best grocery stores in the Outer Banks, I gave it five stars. If you are a senior citizen, shop on Thursdays and get 5% off. Also make sure to get a VIC card for store discounts. Harris Teeter is brightly lit with wide aisles. They carry anything you need for a week at the beach, including beer and wine. Boars head meats and cheeses are available at the deli. Shop early in the morning to miss the crowds - deli will be open by 7 am. Harris Teeter is open 24 hours. A must stop after you cross the bridge onto the outer banks. read more

I love Harris Teeter. During my vacation to the Outer Banks last year I got frustrated with Food Lion and was so glad to find Harris Teeter. I needed ingredients to make mojitos and a mediterranean themed pasta salad. Food Lion was a fail. Harris Teeter had everything I needed and then some. I was back in NC last month and headed straight there to get food/supplies for 9 people with broad food preferences. I was impressed by the good looking produce (some from local farmers) and the good selection of wine & beers. The employees were also very friendly and so helpful. Made for a pleasurable shopping experience all around. Being open 24 hours is also a plus. Just found out there's another location further south which will be useful the next time I'm down there. read more

This is a great addition to the grocery shopping on the outer banks. This place is massive and has everything you want. Its definitely more high-end then the other grocery store, and it has all the good cheeses, wines, beers, etc. you might be looking for. Every town has its low-end grocery store and its high-end grocery store. No the outer banks has its high-end grocery store. read more

After a recommendation from a professional florist, I went to Harris Teeter's flower department for some simple wedding-day flowers for our civil ceremony in the Outer Banks. Maggie did a wonderful job putting together a simple bouquet within a very reasonable budget - I got so many compliments! If you are working on a budget for your wedding, I highly recommend stopping by to speak to Maggie. This grocery store easily gets five stars for selection, organization and cleanliness. The problem is the price. It is on the expensive side. I thought it was worth it to have my pick of organic food, fresh breads and lots of grab and go meals. What an awesome store! Friendly employees and clean. The deli/bakery had samples out and the cinnamon rolls out of the donut case were out of this world! The meat department looked great and prices were good. The meat cutter working seemed to know his regular customers and was generally friendly and knowledgeable. There were some great sales going. Probably the best grocery store on the OBX. Conveniently located just over the bridge on the way into town and convenient to Southern Shores, Duck and KDH. Not much else to say - if you need groceries while vacationing on the OBX, HT is the only place to go. read more

Tried two mornings in row , bagel, donuts, fritter and cherry tart. Tart was ok but threw out rest. Sad to watch the quality of the pastries, donuts etc,at all seem to be day old or more that has occurred at the store. Take down the baked fresh sign it is false advertising read more

This is a great Harris Teeter. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars is that it doesn't have the online express lane shopping service that my local Wake Forest and Raleigh Harris Teeters have. The best customer service I have ever received at a grocery store. They go out of their way (without being annoyingly pushy) to help locals and tourists alike with finding products, check out, cooking tips etc. Now if only their prices were just a little bit lower! The selection is 100% better than Food Lion but the staples at the Food Lion are half the price so unless you plan on making two trips or sending someone into the Wal-Mart next door with a basics list you will pay significantly more than you expect. read more

Clean and spacious grocery store with great selections especially produce. At 7 a.m. On a Monday morning the deli was not well-staffed and the service was quite slow. Well stock grocery store although not as low priced as Food Lion (Corolla and Southern Shores) or Walmart (Southern Shores). It is perfectly located between Duck and Corolla. The deli has a good variety of meats, cheeses, and prepared meals. You cannot go wrong going to Harris Teeter. read more

Nice place to get groceries- I come here often for certain things. Bread / bakery items are very reasonable and fresh. Good selection of desserts and meats. I have recently made a trip to Harris teeters and I was very pleased with the nice atmosphere and polite workers. They even remember costumers! they often greet me by my name. The deli is out of this world amazing with excellent workers they let me have free samples and were so patient. And on top of that they sell delicious and good quality food, my family loves their Ice Cream, if you are going to splurge somewhere do it here with their good food and nice customer service! read more
