There is a HUGE selection of every product. During one beach season, this humongous store is visited by hundreds of beach goers. They carry some FUN products that I don't find in Virginia stores. Did an online pickup the day before to pick up between 8am-9am, pulled in around 7:50am and said order was done they would be right out. Proceeded to wait 40 minutes and still nothing, call number and no one answers. Called customer service and they said it will be out. 20 minutes later nothing, I went into store asked if I can just take it out myself. Waited another 20minutes before food finally came out. Place was empty too! I could have went into store and shopped in less time than we waited..did pick up because we have 3yr old after driving 8hrs...NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

Fresh and affordable. Well, not as many specials I'd get at home, but, prices best Publix and Teeter. While my bride and I loaded up on essentials while inChesapeake, VA, we waited until our obx arrival to get fresh meat and frozen veggie steamers. I found a close dated package of "Nature's Promise" organic top sirloin marked down from about $16 to $8. No brainer. Pan fried the steak last night topped with butter and seasoning. Delicious. Accompanied by Birdseye steakhouse seasoned green beans. We don't have a microwave at home, so I was amazed how great these were after just 5.5 minutes in the reactor. This was the closest grocery store to our rental on our recent stay in OBX. For a Food Lion experience, this was alright. The staff was very friendly and we were able to find everything we needed. It's a LOT more expensive than our home base in VA though -- by quite a lot. So plan for that if you're coming down on vacation -- we brought a lot of pantry items and staples from home because it's always at least 20-30 cents more expensive per item. read more

Went here on 6/6/2020 as part of our North Carolina Vacation. Here we purchased milk, and eggs, some meat, pancake mix, macoroni salad, mustard and TGI Fridays Ribs. Never seen the ribs before in a store, but thought it was cool. Store was neat and organized, and was able to find lots of things. Food also tasted okay as well when cooked. Also, we weren't from the area, but the ribs were a special price with the MVP card- but she was able to give us a discount anyways. line was easy, and checkout was also easy. read more

On a quick run to get a few last minute items for Thanksgiving I hit up the local Food Lion in Southern Shores, NC. I appreciated that they were open on a holiday, but was hoping to not utilize any stores today if I could prevent it. This is a place that I have been over dozen, or so times. It is one of our families main markets to get supplies while at the beach. The prices are good and they usually have what you need. The meat department is excellent. If I can avoid going across the street to Walmart for anything than I will avoid the madness The outside of the store was well maintained and all the carts were clear. Upon walking in the grocery I found it to be clean and shelves tidy. I counted possibly five cars, so they were dead. If you are looking for a more modern store with updates this is not your place. I only had a list of four items, so I suspected this would be quick. I ran across employee #1 the manager who was within feet of me. No howdy, or can I help you, or even a nod. Oh well, it's obvious he does not want to work today. On to the the frozen foods and ran across employee #2 that was right beside me as I looked around. No Happy Thanksgiving, is there something I can help you find. NOPE, just busy, busy, busy stocking those shelves and could not loose concentration to provide a little customer service. After I obtained three out of four items I went to the register that was just closing. however, they opened one just for me... very nice and appreciated. Employee #3 asked if I found everything to which I said no, but I was in a hurry. She stopped ringing me up and walked right over to the isle where I found what I needed. She was pleasant and smiled as we talked. I completed the check out in no time and sped out to deliver those last minute necessary items for dinner. If employee #1 and #2 could have been like employee #3 they would have most certainly got at least a one star upgrade. Overall good store and I will be back, but hopefully on a next encounter all employees will have an attitude toward the customer comes first. read more

Not quite sure why we decided to visit this location as we already had stopped at the one in Corolla not that long before. With that being said this location was much better organized than the other. Same deals, but it seems that there was more merchandise inside this store. Not much else to write about this location except that there is more around it to shop at when you are done here. That's about the only plus side about coming to this location. read more

We ordered a drlivery on Aug 5th to be delivered between 5-7 p.m. Aug 7. On Aug 7, Recd email they are busy delivery will be 715 -745. 9 pm called to find where delivery was told before 1145 p.m. 11ish recd email delivery is now delayed to aug 8 before 1...you should not offer so many time slots if you can't fill them. So we had to make dinner plans, now breakfast and maybe lunch. And someone has to be at the cottage so the groceries don't sit in the sun. Big disappointment!!!! read more

My experience at this store was pretty good overall. My boyfriend and I visited this Food Lion location while on vacation in the OBX. We needed to grab a few basic items, and they had a decent selection. The only things we couldn't find here were more specific, healthier items. The workers were nice, but not real friendly. The store was clean, but could use a little bit of updating to look more modern. The prices are good, not super cheap but also not too expensive. Overall, Food Lion is a pretty good option when it comes to basic grocery shopping. If you're looking for items that are considered more of specialty items, I would recommend going somewhere else though, like Harris Teeter. I always come to Food Lion when I'm in the OBX, and I'll definitely be back during my next vacation. read more

According to some friends who rent often in the area, this is the place to get stuff like toilet paper and Cheerios. For the good meat, produce, etc. you go elsewhere. We found this out the hard way when we tried to do all our shopping here. The produce was terrible (rock hard avocados and mangos). They didn't have a lot of items we take for granted. (e.g. no soy milk, which my family drinks heavily). We left with only 2/3 of our shopping list completed and had to go to Harris Teeter and Tommy's market to get the rest. read more

This is the best place to shop while at OBX. I began my shopping journey ayWal-Mart, thinking they had a well-stocked and inexpensive assortment of groceries. I was totally wrong about that. I got the basics, and nothing cold that needed keeping, and went into Harris Teeter for the rest. HT had very high prices, for what I was used to in Northern Virginia. The next day, I decided to come to Food Lion. The store was very well stocked with the usual variety of stuff you find at a Lion. Much more than what I used to see in the Hopewell stores of years ago. I got everything I needed in one place and didn't feel robbed when I was checking out. I'm shopping here for the rest of the week. read more

This review is for the DELI only. I have been in this store many times and the deli is one of the first things in the store after the bakery area. I get to the one deli worker(never a line) he brings up a clip board and writes down my order....1/2 lb of bologna. He asks if I have other shopping to do? Of course I do. He tells me to come back and pick up the order....I have forgotten to go back after doing all my shopping so many times. It is the most idiotic system I have EVER encountered at a grocery store. Why not do the slicing right then in front of the customer? Is he going in the back to open Oscar Meyer packages and repacking them? I just don't understand the system. I think I'll just go across the street to Harris Teeter!! Just another note, very very low and poor paper towel inventory (only a couple of the food lion brand and they are like cheap napkins) quantities of certain things extremely low on a Tuesday. Fresh fruit and vegetable selections not to mention bakery items were extremely small. I was very disappointed! Not what I expected. Not sure if it is like that during the tourist season but this was the Christmas holidays. Meat selection was also minuscule so I headed back to Walmart which was somewhat better. read more

We visited this location several times during our stay in the Outer Banks due to its convenient proximity to our rental. It was small, but we were able to find most everything we needed. The store was clean and well-stocked. The employees weren't particularly friendly but not really rude either. I would most definitely shop here again. read more

As a Southern boy I love pork rinds and the Food Lion Southern barbeque version is AWESOME!! If I could but them by the case or better yet the truck load I think I would! Plus their rotisserie chicken is soooo good! Not one of those anemic little birds you find some places but the ones I've had, there was some serious meat on those breasts!!! And tonight, the cashier, Erin, was so fast I think she had my items rung up and bagged before I hit the lane! Man was she fast and nice too! Great store!!!! read more
