This local Harris Teeter is almost directly across from our townhome's community, which makes a lot of things so much simpler. We've been loyal HT customers for over 4 years so when we moved to Morrisville, my wife and I seeked out the nearest location. This HT is much like others I've been to. This location is very clean and items are simple to find. The produce is always colorful and fresh, meats are of good quality and the inventory is stocked, for the most part. Being a VIC card member helps us save while also taking advantage of big deals when they present themselves. Is Harris Teeter a little pricier compared to your local Wally World or Tar-jhay? They are if you don't get that VIC savings card or know how to coupon correctly. But...if you strategically plan out a large grocery trip in advance, you'll save more than you would by going to a supercenter. Featured for this review are pics of our Thanksgiving dinner spread at home; all ingredients and items were purchased from this HT location just days before. The only reason for the missing star is that this location is very understaffed. The last 6 times I've gone in...there was a small line waiting for all of the self-checkout kiosks and only one staff-ran register for those with a cart of items. The staff I have encountered, personally, have been cool and friendly, but I feel once they hire 2 or 3 more of them to service the conveyor-belted lanes not being used, this HT location may hit that 5 star status. read more

This is mainly for their deli! Amazing subs, the best in the area. Friends and family tried out subs from 8 places during the Super Bowl, and almost all of agreed Harris teeter had one of the best. We got tuna subs, Very neatly made, bread was fresh, soft and did not fall apart with the fillings and sauces. The store is pretty good too! read more

As more and more grocery stores have popped up over the last couple years I haven't made it to this location as often until recently. I'm happy to see it's still as clean and well managed as I remember, especially these days. The fresh produce department is well stocked and usually an employee at the ready to assist. In fact, the entire store is always fully stocked and the employees are super nice. With the new Wegmans and Food Lion right up the street hopefully this location can hang in there. There are several subdivisions right by it, so fingers crossed. If you sign up for their weekly e-newsletter with your VIC card they send it out on Wednesday and Friday with sales otherwise not offered. That's a bonus in my book! read more

Not to be confused with Hairy Teeter, which is what it was called before body shavers and waxing and LHR became commonplace. This Harris Teeter in Morrisville is where I hung out for a while on a very cold night just before Thanksgiving. It's a good store with decent service and outlets, and wifi near the door which helped me out a lot. It's a little cold where the outlets and chairs are, at night, but it suffices. I'm a huge fan of the Harris Teeter brand. They do a great job of maintaining bright and airy supermarkets that are easy to shop, well stocked, polite and helpful associates, great selection and reasonable prices on most items. Sure, you'll save a bunch by going to the Big Box, but the shopping experience here is much better. Deli, seafood, grocery, pharmacy, produce, frozen, all in great shape. I was able to pick up a couple of things to bring back to the hotel room with no trouble. The self-checkout system works well for a few items, too. Nice, large parking lot with mostly empty cart corrals. read more

I have been plagued multiple times by gross, moldy bread at this location. Yesterday I bought $2.00 HALF loaf bread. Today I went to make my first sandwich and it was covered in mold. This is the 3rd time that this has happened; you would think I would learn and just quit my bread buying habit, cold turkey, with this horrible location. They need to learn how to make fresh bread . I would love my $2 back. Anyway, please don't buy bread here. I've only had bad bread experiences. Also it is way too overpriced. If you are in the market for fresh bread, please go to food lion down the street. Also some of the deli workers are super nice, but there are the occasional deli workers that really seem like they hate being there. I was purchasing a bottle of wine amongst other groceries at self check out and once the attendant bypassed the system, he said "There you go big guy." Yes, I very much am a larger person, but the last thing I expected was for a teenager at a grocery store to think we are friendly enough for him to say that directly to me. Sure he probably didn't mean anything by it, however it was disrespectful and insulting and I guess I was very taken aback by the lack of professionalism in this instance. Even off-hand comments like that should not be acceptable. Exacerbating the issue is that he disappeared when 3 out of the 4 kiosks required assistance only to show back up after several minutes chatting and laughing with a female employee. read more

The only reason why I haven't given five stars is because it is a little more expensive than many other grocery stores. It's a sneaky kind of expensive - sometimes the bill is fifty dollars (today) when you've got four items in your cart. I do have this to speak of: I ordered the full thanksgiving dinner from Harris Teeter (affectionately: Harry TeeTee) and everyone loved the food and believed I did a kick butt job with the turkey but it was Harry TeeTee and not me. They all said it was the best (precooked unbeknownst to them) turkey they'd ever had. I had time to make fancy Pinterest snowmen to laze in their coffees and fancy mulled wine (vin chaud) while Harris TeeTee took nearly all the stress away. Instead of fretting in the weeks before the dinner (my first Thanksgiving ever with extended family) I sent my guests silly jokes and planned ways to make them smile - we had a gingerbread making party after dinner and played games. It was a special day and a lot of it was due to Harris TeeTee - $50 for a stressless and happy holiday - I will do it again for absolute sure. I searched through my photos of thanksgiving and couldn't find one of just our food - suffice it to say the turkey was almost polished off and all of us - me included - were enjoying ourselves. read more

I love the Harris Teeter brand, but this store makes me rethink going to Harris Teeter. The store is clean but the management is rude and lazy. If I wanted rude I would just shop at Walmart. All of the other Harris Teeters management have been helpful to me if an issue arises when checking out. Not this one. Hopefully it is an isolated event, and not a virus that will spread to other stores. The Management that was unhelpful rude, and basically called me a liar was Ralf. Avoid him and your shopping experience will be a nicer friendlier place. BTW - they also tend not to give you all of your groveries. Hope Ralf is enjoying the yogurt they did not bag and include in my shopping cart. Not worth the $3 to go back and pick it up. read more

Harris Teeter is my go to place for grocery shopping. Very clean, fresh vegetables and good selection. Recently, they do not have enough registers and there are ridiculous lines. I just left and stood in a line for at least 20 minutes before being able to check out. I don't believe that is acceptable. read more

A great story that I thought I would share w/ my peeps. Recently moved to Raleigh, NC from Cali, and have to say, pretty much fully acclimated here w/ the exception of one thing very important thing....for the past month, I've searched high and low for my choice beverage, and that would be Ito En Oi Ocha Green Tea imported from Japan in the light green bottle. Couldn't find it anywhere, I mean A-N-Y-W-H-E-R-E!!! So, I'm shopping at my local Harris Teeter (live in Morrisville, a suburb of Raleigh), and I walk around and find Oi Ocha Green Tea, but the dark green tea! Close but no cigar! But I don't give up. I go talk to the store manager, his name is Matt and he is a super cool guy, and tell him my story. Matt says, "give me your number and I'll check to see what I can find out. So I give him my number not expecting to hear anything. But oh no, that was not the case at all. Throughout the past two weeks, Matt calls me periodically to let me know he's called distributors who have checked their warehouses all across the Carolinas and they think they have found my choice beverage, my lost magic elixir. Well, yesterday he calls and he says he has found it and he has it on hold in the manager's office waiting for me to come and pick it up. First thing I said was "MATT, YOU DA MAN!" Then I told him is that Harris Teeter should give him the PONCE DE LEON AWARD, because this guy just found the elusive Fountain of Youth!!! As convenient as this Harris Teeter is for me and as much as I want to love it, the prices here are just ridiculous, particularly on meat and seafood. I was just Harris Teeter a few days ago picking up a few things with my roommate and the chicken breast was going for 4.99/lb and the salmon was 11.99/lb. Jeez, that's practically highway robbery! Compare that to Kroger where the chicken breast is normally 1.99/lb (on sale this week for 0.99/lb) and the salmon is 6.99lb (on sale this week for 5.99/lb) and it's like night and day. Now I don't mind if prices are slightly different or higher, but when it's 2-4x of what it is at other grocery stores, I can't help but to feel ripped off. That being said, they have a good selection of fresh produce here and I've never had a problem with anything going bad before it was supposed and my roommates are a big fan of the $4.99 dinner meal deal you can get here. It's certainly a sizable portion of food for $5, but the quality is average at best (I tried the salmon my roommate got here and it was so dry, it was like eating chunks of a cracked desert land. Also, the ladies at the check out line can get pretty rude. Had one snap at me tersely and another one basically get into an argument with my roommate over using paper bags. Yikes. read more

Good selection, nice employees, 24 hours, good produce, a good deli, and a very helpful and convenient pharmacy with knowledgeable staff. Harris Teeter (HT) is a grocery chain located heavily on the east coast, especially in the south east portion of the US and headquartered outside of Charlotte, NC. While it's owned by Kroger as of 2014, it runs its operations separately and if you keep reading, you'll understand why. Kroger is experiencing plummeting sales, evidenced by their closing several stores this year (2018) and last while Harris Teeter is enjoying tremendous growth as it continues to expand in what is called, "high value communities." Yeah, that's just fancy talk for saying they are only interested in "neighborhoods where people earn lots of moolah and like to spend it at high end stores!" Even so, I love Harris Teeter grocery stores. I haven't been to one yet that disappoints, including this one. HT always comes through. I can always count on finding most of my rare food faves and that means a great deal to me and my family. That includes foods like: - A vast variety of cheeses over by the deli, - Stunning desserts in the bakery cases, - Newly released items on the shelves, - Fabulous selections in the frozen aisles, -Great sushi that can be ordered, pre-packaged or made in front of you - Show-stopping hot food like ribs, pizza and chicken - An amazing salad bar with all the salad fixings you could ask for Yes, I could go on and on because all of that and more are right there for our purchase and enjoyment. Great service is probably their motto at HT! They are one of the few markets that will still carry your groceries ot to your vehicle and refuse your offer to to tip them! (EXPERT TIP: If I ask for help on a carry out to my car, I will still offer the employee a tip and even though they will not take it, I simply express my sincere thanks. That's just simple proper etiquette, so make sure you do that too. A simple "thank you" goes a long way so make sure you use it liberally in life with others.) Going to other chains, especially large discount ones headquartered in Arkansas, are such a chore especially when you have to fight other people for space in line. It's far too stressful! Why put yourself thru all of that when you can enjoy your shopping experience at HT. And guess what? If you're in a rush, you can download the HT app and simply place an "Express Lane" order for any and EVERYTHING you want in the store right from your computer, tablet or smart phone! For example, you can place your order in the morning and pick it up, without getting out of your car, on the way home from work. Whoa, mind blown, right!? But wait, it gets even better. They will even try to help you with reasonable last minute requests like personalizing a cake or icing some cupcakes. All of the other departments are equally amazing. From the butcher, the seafood counter to dry goods, the entire team is there to enhance your shopping experience. Look for different foods and give them a try! It is completely possible for a great grocery store to open your mind to new foods, cultures and products. As such, HT is just the kind of store that can do that. Another piece of advice. Get yourself a "VIC Card," for their loyalty discount program. It will save you hundreds over the course of a year. Never enough cashiers on duty. Staff is stretched thin. My daughter works at another location and we live across the street from this location. She asked for a transfer from her store. It took a week for them to respond. When they did they were so happy to get someone already trained! They cut her work hours in half at the this store for nearly 2 weeks so she went back to her old store. Still think HT is the best local non specialty store in the area though. read more

Convenience and superior customer service keep me coming back to Harris Teeter on Davis Drive again and again. The prices might be a little higher than competitors. Consequently, I try to purchase items only when they're on sale. In any case- it's worth it!!! This location has a good selection and is rarely out of the item you're seeking. Sometimes the produce selection is a little thin on Sunday evenings, but I've noticed this to be much better in the past few weeks. High quality customer service- they often offer to bring your bags to your car. Staff are helpful, friendly and speedy. It's always nice to see familiar faces when we shop- many employees have been there for several years. We've been thrilled with the pharmacy services here (see separate review). read more

I've been a loyal customer here for about 3 years due to the convience of location. But the food and service here just get worse and worse! I don't think I would come here again in the future! The vegetables are not fresh and more expensive than other groceries! If they were fresh, it's acceptable. But they are NOT FRESH at all! Some even go bad! The bagged salad vegetables are even worse! They are DAYS over experation date and some are even rotten inside! What makes me more angry today is that the person what does the bagging out a bug eggplant on top of tomotoes and squeezed my bananas to the side of the cart! It's NOT acceptable! I returned to this Harris Teeter yesterday to buy some Counter Culture Coffee. First all the coffee roast dates were really old. So I decided to take advantage of the coffee beans they have. I finally picked one and wanted to used the machine to grind my coffee well it was full of coffee beans to the top from the previous costumer...not to mention how filthy it looked. I decided to leave the coffee go the tell the manager and hopefully they would be able to do something. They brushed off and said "yea yea thank you" while answering the phone. Am I not important enough? You could let that phone ring or let someone else get it. To make matters worse I was told they'll be with me shortly and after nearly 20 min still nothing and no one. So I left with out my coffee. I like to give places second or third chances but I'm not wasting my place at this place anymore. Low quality, old products, not enough people working and the ones that work there don't seem to care. read more

This review isn't about the actual shop, it's about what they sell. The other day I was buying some salmon when my son showed me this white fish that was a special that day. He said it was an Orange Roughy, and it was one of the most endangered species in the world. He said he would know because they were learning about overfishing in school. Did you know that if fishing keeps going on the way it is, within 50 years, fishes will be extinct? It's because of stores like these that this is true. Very disappointed. read more

I wouldn't mind having one of these in my city. The produce section was reasonable and had a good selection including some pre-made salads that listed the protein and fiber. I was surprised only self checkout was open. I was a bit tired to deal with self checkout and fruits and veggies that were unlabeled. There was one guy dedicated to helping the 4 self checkout stations that were close to each other. He was super nice. read more

I never experienced a Harris Teeter grocery store until moving to NC. I absolutely love this store in particular. It's within walking distance from my home and they have a fabulous selection of foods. The meat department is probably my favorite. They have excellent staff that are always helpful in recommending cooking tips. The weekly sales are great. I really do mostly all my grocery and non-food purchases here by watching the sales flyers. You can also sign up to receive the weekly flyer in your email and create a shopping list to print out and take with you. read more

For those of you who don't know, Harris Teeter is more of an upscale supermarket, probably somewhere between Kroger and Fresh Market. This is a particularly nice Harris Teeter. I moved from the west coast to North Carolina, and one of the first questions I asked was about the grocery stores. I am new to Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Publix, and Krogers. I had heard from many locals that Harris Teeter was supposed to be the high-end vegetable section compared to other stores. Well...That couldn't be farther from the truth. I have had countless packages of arugula, butter lettuce, edamame, mushrooms, and shredded carrots go bad well before their expiration. The amount of Arugula and edamame we have had to throw away is far beyond 50% of the amount we have purchased. I honestly can't count how many times I have hit the store on my way home from work so I could have a salad with dinner - and upon opening the box it is already slimy. I have returned a few items (more often I don't because of the inconvenience) AND I have spoken with the manager of both this location and the one in Parkside to let them know that their temperatures are most likely off. But After a year - there has been no change. Finally stopped going there all together because no matter what we still have to hit another grocery store for vegetables. Huge disappointment. They do have a nice cheese selection if that is all you need. Staff is friendly and helpful. read more

I feel like I have to leave this review, because I've been going to this HT for at least 8 years now and it's just become unacceptable. When this Harris Teeter first opened, the produce was above average and fresh, the deli department was decently staffed, and the store seemed well-managed. This no longer seems to be the case. Despite Harris Teeter adding a pizza booth and staffing a bread person full time, the deli department always seems short staffed, and despite a lot of foot traffic at times, the lanes are almost always short staffed with wait times often greater than any of the surrounding grocery stores. The biggest problem, however, is the produce and fresh foods. Someone is NOT doing their job. I have to regularly sort through cases of left out strawberries and blueberries where half the cases are moldy or approaching moldy - often even in the prime of season! The entire produce area is too warm and the produce itself was probably delivered subpar, so you have tons of wilted or old veggies. The organic apples regularly look the worse for wear. Avocados are either as hard as rocks or ripened to the point of disgust, there is no in between. Free pick mushrooms are rarely available and when available, always look like they are going bad. Produce like lettuces are packed in too tight, are oversaturated with water, are warmer than they should be, and as a result often look wilted or rotting. Cucumbers are often not firm or have soft spots, which is a sign of bad produce. Even the prepackaged greens look wilted or old. Buying prepackaged mixed greens is rolling the dice, as they are regularly wilted and their plastic tops covered in evaporate, probably because the fridges are WAY TOO WARM or TOO HUMID. Samples of things like pineapple and melon look like they've been left out for days. Sorry, samples of overripe melons are not inspiring people to buy or eat your food. It's unacceptable. Ironically, the coldest part of the store is probably near the bread and meat area, which means you rarely ever get fresh warm bread. In fact I haven't picked up a fresh warm loaf of bread from this HT in years. Sad to say, this is probably the better run area of the store, as the bread sample person keeps her area clean and is friendly. If this was a Walmart or Kroger perhaps it would be OK, but this is supposed to be an upscale experience and the food approaches Whole Foods level of expensive. It's rarely worth it. I find myself picking through whatever garbage produce they have. The only reason I shop there is because it's very close to home. Then you have the fish and meat section. Overall the meats are just OK, nothing special - and the fish is excessively expensive. The Food Lion down the road is several times better and the produce is way less expensive. They have better almost everything. My suggestion to management would be to overhaul the produce section completely - whoever is stocking or overseeing the stocking/delivery of produce needs to be much more picky about what they allow, and the area needs to be cooler. You need to reinvest in the produce area. Pick out and combine bad boxes of strawberries or something. Also in general, to HT - stop trying to do EVERYTHING. Just do a few things really well. You don't need a pizza bar, you don't need a bar bar, you don't need a Starbucks, you don't need a Chinese bar, you don't need to stock 500 different types of fish or meat, you need competent managers who are anal about their limited number of goods and don't accept delivered produce that is subpar. read more

Harris Teeter on Davis Drive use to have a decent salad bar but in the last 6 months it has gone down hill. It is always messy, usually out of to go containers and their produce is not fresh. Some items look as if is over a week old. Last time I went for a salad, I told myself never again. It was terrible. It's disappointing because other than Wendy's this is the only place that has a salad bar near my Employer. I would go twice a week when it was decent. read more

It's an ok grocery store, but not spectacular. They do have great customer service in that if you catch them over charging you for something they will give you the difference or give you the whole product for free. But to get more stars they should strive to offer healthier products at a lower cost. They have some "local", "natural" and "organic" selection, but they charge an arm and a leg for it. For comparison: I bought about $34 worth of fruits and veggies @ harris teeter costs for about $13 at the raleigh farmers market. There is a lot of junk on their shelves with lots of processing and unnatural ingredients. They don't go to great lengths to offer higher quality food on their shelves. read more
