NO LONGER going here. Three times I have had to go to the Mgr desk to get a refund for items that they over charged (significantly, not a few cents) from what the labeled price was on the shelf. This store and its management is in no way diligent on accuracy between label pricing and what the items ring up as. This store is clean, organized and well stocked--so we are already paying a premium in price for that. In addition, on my last return the manager, corrected the price and then did not remove the old item--I had to bring that back to the desk and she had to redo it. Publix Pharmacy goes out of their way to ensure my medications are available when they are submitted. I always know that the pharmacists and the technicians are on top of my drugs and are alert to any issues. I know I can always get accurate information on side effects I might encounter. I love Publix grocery stories. I like that there are hot food options, sushi, subs, and a bakery. I also like that I can usually find ingredients for recipes that I cannot find at other competitor grocery stores. My kids completely love the free cookies that are offered to kids in the bakery (sugar cookies, sprinkle cookies, and chocolate chip cookies). I do find that that prices here can be higher than other grocery stores but can be great to shop when there are sales. I also love that there are weeks when you can buy discounted gas cards based on spending a certain amount on your groceries. I have found that the staff here is always friendly, greeting me when walking by and always extremely helpful when I need assistance. Happy to have this Publix in Apex! read more

Terrible experience at the deli counter today. We ordered 2 subs and sliced turkey and sliced beef on line. We were given a 4:30 pickup time. At 4:35 I checked and they were not on the pickup cooler. I shopped for many other items, then went back at 5:35 , but still nothing. Had to wait to get to a guy , and when it's finally my turn I tell him about the order. He looks puzzled, repeating the 4:30 time, then goes to look for a ticket. None found. He just walked off. So I go down to where the meat is sliced and wait for two guys who are talking to each other, one acknowledges me. He had the meat behind the counter, said they were working on the subs. Lie. He goes to the sun station and starts to make the subs. One was a blt. The bacon was cold and not cooked! I had to come home, cook the bacon and reassemble the sub. I have been shopping at Publix since the 1970's (I lived in Fl). Never have I had such poor service. I will never get bacon on a sub from them again, and definitely avoid this location. Bought 4 lobster around the holidays at Wegmans and stored in in our freezer and totally forget about it., it's been in the freezer for at least 4 months., today we remembered that we have lobsters in the freezer and decided to make it., however, another person decided to join us so i had to make a quick run to Publix for another lobster. It cost me $12.99 a piece and when cooked it tasted like a blob. The guy at the counter assured me it's fresh and it's never frozen. LIE LIE BIG LIE. The lobsters from Wegmans tasted fresher., the meat is intact and did not disintegrated. Never again. Don't fall for this "fresh never frozen" crap again!! read more

Been going here since the day they opened. You remember? Everyone in the store greeted you? They took coupons that might be two days expired? They would perform their cashier or stock duty like professionals. It was surprising. But it goes downhill ever since. No more greets. I have realized this is the smallest Publix in Wake county, and it's missing many items that are found at Bradford and Green Level. Like that giant produce area--ours is like food lion. The prices are high, I only buy things that are on sale, as I also go to other stores. The new Harris Teeter nearby is a full size store, and has many more sale items than Publix. The deli in this publix is a little trip to hell. It has been consistently like that since they opened. There is usually a line of folks that have not learned yet, DON'T GO TO THIS DELI. Trust me, it's not worth the horrible wait. Even if you just want a simple one pound of the ham that is on sale, they will have to hunt for it, hunt all over the store. It's insane. I often go to the store on Tue evenings. That is a disaster at this store, because they start taking all the little signs down about stuff that is on sale--they start taking that down about 6 or 7. they don't care if you know about the sales or not, just want to make it easy on themselves. I guess nobody could do that after 10 when they close, which is EXTREMELY EARLY for a grocery store. Most open till 12. We had all night grocery stores twenty years ago in Apex, now we got them that close at 10. That is the extra effort that Publix puts out. read more

Overall, I love the Publix experience. I frequent the catering for work events and the food is always ready early and a big hit with our team. It's a perfect stop over on the way to the office when I forget something. The produce is always fresh, brand variety is great and bathrooms clean. What I appreciate most, however, is the customer experience. All team members from the deli across are so helpful with special orders, throughout the store, and when checking out. One in particular had gotten my attention to the point that I had to ask his name. I met Shayne for the first time "officially" today. He stands out as every time I go he's a radiating smile, asks if I/we need something and always so helpful. Truly makes one feel welcome. read more

Customer service is their thing. When I was looking for something specific (pre-COVID), one of the staff members asked me what I needed. When I told them, they quickly looked it up and said they didn't have it but could order it. They did, and I had it the next week. I can tell you that if you want the SWEETEST cantaloupes in the western hemisphere, the ones called Kiss Melons wrapped in a bag are better than any dessert that a Masterchef could make. I also love the fruit tarts they have in the bakery. Post-COVID (or during, since it's still happening), the service is just as good as you'd expect. There are a few things I miss - the buffet because no one can do that now - but this is still one of my favorite places to shop. Their store brand macadamia nuts are fresh and the best anywhere, and their ice cream and novelty section is massive. The only drawback I find is their meat and seafood department. Everything is way more expensive at Publix here than at my regular places, even my local fresh fish market (a fishmonger) in Sanford who has the best seafood for a great price. Clean, bright and shiny is how I'd describe this Publix, just like another location in the Triangle I've visited. It's big with a huge selection in every aisle of many items I haven't seen anywhere else. Their prices seem high to me, but once in a while I do find a good savings. Their employees will stop in their tracks to offer their help if you appear to be looking for something, which is nice, but it's almost overkill because it happens constantly while shopping the store. Their chattiness to the customer at the checkout will either be refreshing or irksome if you're in a hurry. Since this location is new, it is very clean. The staff is somewhat new but even if they don't know they answer, they will find someone who does. And if you stare at the meat section too long, someone always comes out to offer help. Most items are average price - cheaper than Whole Foods but more expensive than Food Lion. We come here often for their sandwiches and desserts. Sandwiches are priced like sub restaurants, but are also at that quality. And it just makes it convenient to pick up snacks , drinks, and desserts while you are there. read more

Called to order birthday cake and it took 2 attempts to get someone on the phone. She was a pleasant person and took my order. When I went to pick up the cake @ 5 pm, there was no in the bakery department. I did sight someone on the phone who remained just tucked by the wall between bakery and deli. I asked the deli person for help in the bakery. A guy did show up and when he handed me the cake, I was very surprised... it was HUGE!! I recalled the gal didn't ask me what size i wanted and I didn't specify a typical round cake. The guy just laughed and said I could freeze it. The cake tasted ok, a bit dry. Was delighted to be at your grand opening and see the excitement of the customers in your area just waiting to get in and try all the delicious goodies and treats you had out for samples. Clearly the vibrant energy of your staff was contagious and everyone had a great time shopping and eating their way through the store. And wow I got to the meat counter and had my beef tenderloin that you had on sale cut into chateau brian size cuts of meat. To top that off your meat manager asked if the trimmings could be made into some ground beef for me. Boy were those burgers really really good. I like the store and employees, but I have one giant issue. I will stop by the hot bar and see some things I want, but I rarely get service. I have noticed that the sub line is always manned. There just seems to be no one who mans the hot bar. If there is, maybe they are working in the back somewhere, I don't know. I stood in line for nearly 15 minutes tonight. There were a couple of people behind me and they gave up. An employee came to fill the bar and never even made eye contact with me. I gave up then. No one even said, "We will be with you in a minute." It's like they just want you to go away This was about the 10th time that I have walked away without being waited on. I have spoken to the manager. He apologized but the situation has not improved. I give up. The ribs look good. Would be nice if I could by some. read more

Everyone greets you as you walk down the aisles, and it's sparkling clean. That alone sets this Publix apart from other grocery stores. The prices are comparable to, and sometimes higher than, other stores in the area, but I always enjoy coming here. If you like seafood, check out their fish counter. Everyone at Publix is so friendly and helpful. I actually enjoy going to the grocery store. They have fantastic cakes and breads in their bakery. Their deli carries Boars Head meats, and they make deli sandwiches there as well as serve hot items. They also have ready-made items like sandwiches, salads, desserts, if you want to pick something up without waiting in line to have it made fresh. Their prices are a little higher on most things than other local grocers (which is why I gave them a 4 instead of a 5), but the convenience of it being so close to home, and the quality of the fresh items make up for the slightly higher prices. read more

This has been my go-to grocery store for the last year or so, but it's gone very downhill recently. The last few times I've purchased meat, seafood, and/or produce, they've gone bad by the next day, even though the sell-by date is still several days (or even weeks) out. The deli counter service has also gotten worse; they often act like it's an imposition that someone's ordering a sandwich. I haven't had a problem with the quality of the shelf stable foods, but they're consistently 10-20% more expensive than at Target, Walmart, etc., which is fine if you're going to Publix for other groceries anyways, but if I'm not going here for anything else anymore why would I buy overpriced pantry staples here? read more

Publix has always been my favorite place to shop even when I was younger! I have never received bad Customer service at a Publix. Wished we had a Sabor up here in Wake Forest NC because of the wide array of ethnic foods! Not much of that up here! We need that up here so bad! Keep up the excellent work that you do! We don't have a Publix in Fuquay Varina, NC .....so when I want to visit one....I usually drive the 15 miles to the Apex location. Don't have a whole lot of Publix experience....but if they all are like the Apex store.....they must be great! The employees are good at making customers feel important as they never miss a chance to welcome you or ask if you need assistance. It's clear that Publix has made this a priority. On this particular visit.....I was disappointed that the Deli had run out of plain chicken wings. I had hoped to purchase 50 to celebrate my birthday with my family. I should have ordered in advance....but alas I didn't...and was advised that they were not going to be able to fill my request. I went to the customer service desk and politely asked if I could see a manager on duty . The customer service representative politely summoned a manager to the desk . I took the opportunity to speak with a manager named Matthew.... explain to him my story and not really complaining but expressing my disappointment in not being able to purchase the wings I desired. Matthew proceeded to tell me he would see what he could do to help . Turns out he actually went to the back of the store and found packaged chicken wings.....took them out of the package.....cut them in pieces....and gave them to the deli folks to fry for me! What a great customer service experience that was.....almost unheard of in today's market! A huge "thank you" to Matthew! The Apex Publix has some pretty special employees....and a manager that leads by example! P.S. Matthew warned me that the wings he provided might not be as expected....since they plain packaged wings are not treated with damn flavoring past now as the one they typically fry in the deli. He was correct....the wings were a bit of a disappointment but the special effort given.....completely overshadowed the wings. read more

This rating is based on the cakes I ordered from this location. I ordered a cookie cake and it was over baked and the frosting decoration was subpar. I also ordered a cupcake "cake"- the decorations that were agreed to be on the cake were no longer in stock, but I was not given any notification of this until I went to pick it up. The colors were pretty however the cupcakes were iced with two different tips, making them to look very inconsistent. read more

This rating is based on ordering subs online.. the store itself is 5 starts but I take 2 away for the subs... first off, if it's not one thing it's another.. last time I ordered 2 different subs and they gave me two of the same.. Now, I ordered Buffalo chicken tender and there is no Buffalo sauce and no cheese... just disappointing.. Last time I went to eat a sub in person, this kid was working and maybe he was high... he was shaking and so nervous. All the staff that mom and I came upon was extremely friendly and very helpful.At the cash register one of the staff took it upon herself to unload my mother's basket and then put the bags back into the basket. She then did not for me. Just a note the store is extremely clean. This was my first time to go into a Publix. I just had one problem. By the handicap parking space there was no place to put the basket. I am handicap and have a ha4d time walking and was not going to walk all the way to put the basket up. If you notice the carts end up close to the poll and that leaves a risk for carts to go 8nto other cars . Luckily a nice employee too our carts. Suggestion please put a place around the handicap spaces for us to put our baskets. read more

You get to shop with self absorbed, know-it-all northeasterners and Californians with made up food allergies. The beer prices are crazy and it lacks a beer den for somebody to get offended by like Lowe's has. This, IMO makes it just a little less smug than a Whole Foods, but not by very much. Like others have stated, the service is indeed very good, however I don't require someone to hold my hand when grocery shopping lol. I enjoyed the pre-seasoned burgers in the meat dept. and the fact that I left feeling more full of myself than I did when I walked in. A few small gripes are that they don't do Primo water jug exchanges and they often don't have the smaller shopping carts available, without going back outside to find one. Judging by the parking lot filled with cars no self respecting southerner would ever buy (minivans, pretentious hybrids, boxy little Kia's, etc.) and the spazzed put manner in which they were operated, I sadly believe that I was the lone soul in there actually from Apex. Let alone from the great state of NC. The various screeching, insanity inducing northeastern accents I overhead in store helped to solidify a heartbreaking thought: "Similar to the manner in which a virus invades it's host, replicates, then spreads, my once beautiful small hometown of Apex has been terminally infected by a combination of highly virulent strains originating from NY, NJ, CT, RI, NH, MA, WA, and CA. No doubt that once these varii have voted in enough elections to turn all of Apex and Wake county into the same over-taxed, over-regulated fecal creations from which they FLED and have strained our resources, roads, and infrastructure to the breaking point, they'll pack it up and infect the next happy and content small town. And with them, they'll bring their better-than-you attitude, strange infatuation with high taxes, terrible music and art, dirty politics, and the willingness to surrender personal freedom at the drop of a hat. You would think that after what they did to their previous cities, towns, and states that they'd have learned their lesson. If it was sooo great up there, than why in the world are you HERE, Ian and Karen?"‍ ‍‍ ‍‍ Alas...... In conclusion, this Publix is a nice store and I really do like it. However, these carpetbaggers and out-of-towners ruin an otherwise great experience. Simply put, I prefer to be around fellow southerners with whom I might have something in common with. Also, the fact that Lowe's and Food Lion are NC owned businesses is meaningful to me. At Lowe's, you can walk around with a tasty draft beer in your hand, if for no other reason than to deeply offend an unwanted, recent transplant or two. Occasionally, they also play great bluegrass music in the background and the prices are right on just about everything, every time.
