I live in North Carolina and love getting the meal deal with the lemonade, sour cream and onion chips and a turkey sub on cheese bread. I was in Jekyll Island for a conference and we had candy at our trait booth. The attendees ate all of the candy the very first day and I needed to run out to the grocery store and buy more. I chose the Harris Teeter on Saint Simons because it was a familiar brand. I ended up getting a foot-long sub and had half for dinner that night and then saved the other half for another evening. I randomly was driving around the island and went to the Jekyll Island club, which was absolutely gorgeous. I went back the next day with my leftover sub from the hotel refrigerator and had a picnic under the beautiful several hundred years old white oak trees. It was such a special moment that I had to take pictures. It was an ideal picnic. read more

A nice grocery store that was clean and fairly well stocked. I came in for one thing and left with two because an item I like was bogo. The employees were friendly and offered to help, but they do have good signage . Prices are typical for a Harris Teeter store. They are open until 11:00 pm so that is helpful. read more

Check out systems were extremely outdated not the wide variety I was used to when I lived in St. Louis. The staff definitely needs some improvement. Half of the team members look 'ldontcare' I guess I'll come back if I need something that I can only get there. most of the time I wouldn't recommend it to a friend. read more

I love this store and now they've brought back their great cheeses. They had changed cheese to some NY brand and dropped many of the cheese selection that came from other countries. There's just nothing like the cheese from European countries. There's never a question if you need to return something. They have almost everything. If you need to go to Brunswick, there are great stores there too but for convenience and quality, I choose HT. read more

This is my local Harris Teeter and I love it! I know, I heart a supermarket. I absolutely do. This is a bright and clean store with packed shelves offering most everything you need. The shelves are well stocked when I go in and kept tidy by the impressive team of employees who work here. I always feel so happy here because of the environment the brand and store management strive for. The most impressive feature is the alcohol section. The wine selection is bar none the best on SSI. And I stand behind the fabulousness of Shore Birds, another great liquor store on SSI, when I say that. My favorite item they offer is pizzas for $7.99 on Mondays. The pizza is better than some actual local pizza joints! And for a fraction of the cost. They also offer a $7.99 pizza everyday of the week. It's whatever is the pizza of the month. I recommend all the pizza toppings with my favorite being the sausage. The costs are fair with good sale offerings. I signed up for the HT savings card and get fuel points at the register. I saved $1/a gallon the other day at the BP on SSI! What a bonus. Thank you employees of Harris Teeter! You are some of the best in the industry. read more

I don't usually review grocery stores, but after a RUDE experience at a chain grocer in the area, we sought out something better -- Harris Teeter was a welcome respite! We were in search of grass-fed AND finished beef. This place has LOTS of choices & it's well-marked & decently priced, esp for a beach location. Selection on MANY other items was top-notch &, being high-end, it's a bit more expensive, but worth it if you want to be treated like a valued human. Very large wine selection, too. read more

I stood at the deli meat counter waiting for service for over 10 minutes while 6 employees moved around doing everything BUT serving customers or even acknowledging customers. I left. i will never return to the deli meat counter. Publix is only a 15 minute drive away. read more

My first Harris Teeter! Great place to buy souvenir tees!!! Good quality, nice graphics, and less than half the price of the tourist shops! $10 adult tees, $20 sweatshirt hoodies! Visited this SSI store several times during my month on Jekyll. I struggled to get decent organic options(I did much better for organic at Walmart in Brunswick), but HT had decent (somewhat healthy) meats, and amazing mangoes, which, yes, were worth the 30-min drive from Jekyll!!! Staff was friendly at checkout and drivers in parking lot were polite and courteous. read more

Updated review: In the middle of the pandemic they allow customers without masks into the store and even some of their employees wear NO masks at all or wear them improperly -- like with their nose hangin' out. (Check out the photo I just posted of the employee setting out food at the breakfast bar wearing NO mask. Unbelievable.) Within the last ten days there were multiple times where the store opening times shown on the front door were different from the H-T web site and were different from what was given by telephone. (We learned this after trying to get into the store first thing in the morning -- the store should have been open but was not.) And, yes, their still adulterating organic food with their stupid little stickers. H-T REALLY needs some competition! read more

I bought a package of Boar's Head turkey deli meat that had been presliced and was in the cooler. Got it home and it was spoiled ~ horribly spoiled! It reeked to high heaven so we didn't taste it and get sick, thank goodness. I returned it and the customer service lady almost gagged when she opened the bag. It had supposedly been sliced that day so whoever did the slicing had to know it was spoiled. I think they did because they put a cheaper price on that one package than all the others. Is this place A Publix on steroids or what. Not really Harris Teeter has its own identity and it has some great produce, great meats, great fish, and great just about everything. The staff was excellent. I really had to say that I had Jill as a cashier. She was very amicable, very kind, and very professional. There's something to be said about a staff that is willing to work and do a good job and Jill was one of them. I've always been a Publix fan and often go there, however, it looks like I'll be driving that extra 3 miles to get to Harris Teeter. They have more of what you want and better quality. The produce manager was improperly wearing his mask, and to make things worse, he felt it necessary to remove his mask when he spoke to someone. 4 years ago, this was the greatest store ... but now it's just where you go because there is no other competition. The store needs a facelift or a major cleaning ... it's boring and dull ... with the prices rising, its serves as simply the default grocery store. I have shopped here regularly for sometime. They are generally more expensive than the other grocery stores, but have a bit nicer products. However, several times I have gotten home and realized their advertised sale price was NOT the price I ended up paying. Once or twice, I could excuse as a missed sale sign or "computer mistake" but this happens with consistency. Today was the final straw. I regularly get their pre-cooked meals, especially their blackened chicken or their fajita chicken strips. They are actually quite tasty for a pre-cooked meal and generally fresh. I repeat, I REGULARLY get these meals, so I know how much there is and how much they cost. For the past week or so they have been on sale for $5.99 for 12oz of either the fajita chicken or the blackened chicken. Today I went in and found they had new packaging, but the same price. Checking out the serving size, it was now only 8 oz but the same price as the 12 oz had been. Given their consistent "computer mistakes" with pricing, and now their switching packaging for a serving 50% smaller, but at the same price- I would say they are approaching shady pricing practices. If you shop here, make sure to check that their sale prices are what you are charged AND beware of switching sizes! read more

This is my first review for Harris Teeter on SSI. It's my local grocery and I visit it frequently. The other day, Anthony was my cashier and he was the most attentive out of all the cashiers I've ever dealt with at that location. When he was scanning my groceries he noticed that the avocado I had and thought it was too soft and offered to grab a different one for me because he was afraid it would bust on my way home. Anthony went all the way across the store in search of the perfect avocado and came back with the best one he could find. I hope the manager sees this review because Anthony deserves praise for his positive attitude and willing to please. I have hospitality experience myself and I know how much positive feedback means to employees. read more

Harris Teeter is kind of like the Cheers of St. Simons. It's where everybody knows your name. I swear that my sister in-law ran into 5 people while we were grocery shopping. we purchased 2 Dungeness crabs fresh was apx 29 dollars we came apx 8:45pm meat guy didn't see crabs were spoiled.. we drove home 15 miles from St.Simons island ga store to Brunswick. we got home to a terrible smell coming from bag. we went back from brunswick and manager on duty Rekisha was so wonderful first she remembered us and took back crabs refunded the price. she was exactly what customer service should be. We were vacationers, but learned we could get a HT discount at the register by simply telling the cashier. It may be a little more expensive, but has a larger selection (especially seafood, deli, produce, bakery, etc.) in high-level departments. Great customer service. read more

I have shopped at this Harris Teeter for years. It is convenient and superior to the only other grocery store on SSI (with the same prices). Quite a bit of their produce is consistently near rotten or in the process of spoiling as they put it out. Their prices are 15-25% higher than Publix in Brunswick. They have out-right price gouged during COVID-19. I compared prices of three items to Publix and HT was 100%-200% higher. Over ten years, I have found that there is almost always a long wait to check out with most lanes closed. The checkout process is slow. On the positive side, they have a nice flower selection and a lovely seafood and butcher counter. I have started going out of my way not to shop here. read more

Yes, Harris Teeter finally started requiring their employees to wear masks, but their vendors are inside stocking shelves with products with no masks or gloves. And more than half of the customers do not wear masks. Difficult to stay away from them in narrow aisles. I have been a great customer of the Harris Teeter on St. Simons Island, GA for many years, but looking for a safer option. I don't want to shop online--I want to be in the store to see what is on the shelves and what is on sale. They could keep me as a customer if they opened up a couple of hours each week when it was mandatory to wear a mask to be in the store. Otherwise, the number of cases in Glynn County are upticking and they are not helping to keep their customers safe. read more
