While amenities are good we have an issue that totally changed our view of this place. We currently live here now and we had an incident that was barely addressed by the management company. Last week the garage door at Harrison's underground parking came down on our car and pulled off our front bumper. After a lot of back and forth with Harrison's Regional Manager, they are claiming that it was not their fault, even though it clearly is. The Regional Manager even admitted to me that my car "stopped just shy of the sensor, which allowed the door to come down onto my bumper and pull it off". The fact that the garage door hit my car means that the garage door sensor was not working properly, and was not in compliance with code UL-325. I was only asking them for compensation of $500 to cover my auto insurance deductible, but they refused. It's sad they couldn't do the right thing and accept responsibility. The mgt response on this issue is unacceptable. Not only did we have to cover the deductible we also have to deal with the insurance company, have to get a rental car and deal with all the other inconveniences. Icing on the cake is them saying it is not their fault. Hmmmmm.... read more

My new home. Jillian, the Leasing Manager is a sweetheart. She goes out of her way to help the residents and is a joy to be around. The entire team does a great job. It is my understanding that the Manager is responsible for seeking out and planning an amazing schedule of cultural, healthy and interesting weekly events for the residents in house. They are posted in the elevators. There are 2 pools, a yearly heated indoor pool as well as a roof top summer pool. A small unique game room is free and fun for all ages and the building is maintained with precision and immaculate. There is an active announcement board in the lobby that shows available times to occupy certain areas privately, like shooting pool with friends, or reserving an office space with a computer and desk. There are even furnished apartment rentals should you have out of town guests who would prefer being in the building with you rather than staying in a local hotel. There is on-site garage parking and a 24 hour desk clerk who handles deliveries which are so important today. It is a coveted place to live. I would invite anyone who can afford the tolls and parking fees in Reston and other areas of Virginia to check out the Harrison. The location is across a small highway to Reston Town Park, very walkable and full of more surprises, retail shops, restaurants, ice skating, outdoor concerts, and grocery stores. read more

If you are in search of a great apartment complex in the Reston Virginia area stop by here and take a tour. You'll love it I'm sure. I just signed a lease and toured with Brandon Bradshaw. The process that the folks here at the Harrison use is very, very simple and isn't your typical rental process. When I first met Brandon , he was very professional in the way that he greeted me and maintained that professionalism throughout the entire conversation and process of completing my rental. They had trouble locating a few of the things for the apartment, and instead of making the customer wait while he searched for these items, he just went the extra mile and created new things such as key fob and mail keys. Those type of things to me matter most because it didn't keep me waiting. My suggestion is just to go check out the property yourself and make sure you ask for Brandon Bradshaw. He'll take good care of you. I'm sure that the entire facility is full of employees that work as hard as him, I was just lucky enough to have him assist me when I first walked in . The facility has all different types of amenities such as a really nice gym, a great rooftop pool as well as an indoor pool and Jacuzzi. They also have different events such as a first of the month brunch and also have food trucks come on occasion. Already met some of the neighbors and they are amazing also. My husband and I recently entered our second two-year lease and we absolutely love living here. The Harrison offers a myriad of perks and ammenities best illustrated on their website. And by design, there's a sense of community here that's rare in rental properties. That said, I'd be remiss not give credit where credit is due. Community Managers, Lindsay and Asiel, Social Director, Shaniek and Domingo and his maintenance crew have been friendy, accommodating and thorough, all the way. We lived almost 5 years in the building. The first two years, the amenities and the entire building was pristine. Then, the building lost a high-level customer and everything went down after that, from the upkeep to maintenance and management. We went through so many concierge individuals leading to lost packages and some security incidents due to the lack of training. The turnover with leasing individuals increased as well. It was sad to have lost many great individuals as such fast rate. I will say, the best time for this building was under Tyler, Shawn and Denise as they had knowledge, professionalism to manage/influence over management. Are. You. Serious?? Ok talk about above and beyond...I have a motorcycle and realized there wasn't any powered outlets in the garage near the designated moto-parking. One email and less than a week later and the property manager set me up with the maintenence staff to walk them down there and explain the issue - if you know motorcycles you know you need an outlet nearby for so many reasons. Upon explaining this, the maintenance staff had this up literally the next day. Personal outlets for each moto spot - installed professionally and making things just so convenient. Look at the pic - all these outlets are brand new!! (Hope it let's me post pics but if not there are like 8 new outlets now I'm just so impressed and grateful. The community manager even followed up to make sure that would help fix the problem. Just next level care for the residents here - you can't find that anywhere else; I've tried. My husband and I have been living at the Harrison for about 2 months now and have been so incredibly happy here. Everyone that works here, from the concierge front desk, leasing office, cleaning and maintenance, are so friendly and helpful. If you schedule a tour, try to get it with Jillian from the leasing office! She made it possible to have our lease start on time under really short notice, even if that meant helping us after work hours! We've been still going to her whenever we have a question and she gets back to us right away. The entire leasing and management office is very proactive with any building concerns and questions, and you can tell they really care about their residents. I resided in several "luxury" apartment buildings in DMV area for several years now, but never had so bizarre renting experience in my quite long life. Harrison at Reston Town Center. Has a very inviting lobby and super nice concierge. That's where my complement ends. My spouse and I were meet by most hostile leasing agent I ever met. Tyrell (I believe is his name), started by asking for my data. When I said they have it already since I input everything requesting, he told me he could not see me anywhere implying that I haven't done it. Did not apologized when I showed him confirmation email. Our interest in the building is partially because website states they have special for new residents of 1.5 month free. Turns out it is bait and switch. If you chose special your rent price will go up for over 10% making rent more expensive over 12 months. I felt like buying my first used car in shady dealership in Chicago when teenager. Point is people willing to pay north of 3K for apartment in NOVA most likely know how to do basic arithmetic. When I told agent that is special that makes price higher, he got really offensive. Apartments are quite nice, but run of the mill. What's weird thermostat was really ancient without any connectivity. Haven't seen anything like that in years. Another bait and switch is parking fee. They advertise free parking for a first car but charge $150 for a second one. It's pretty much double of places are charging in Reston Town Center Proper. But the straw that broke the camel back was $15 fee per bicycle to use bike rack. That's just outrageous. At the end of the tour leasing agent pointed us to complex across the street saying it is the great place and we should definitely check it out. The only good piece of advice I had from the agent. Was told to schedule an appointment next time , even though I showed a proof of an appointment I've made online. Very rushed tour (he was scheduled to go home soon). We moved in, during that month we bought a puppy, but they "changed" the policies and in that floor they didn't allow pets! We moved to another unit, floor were warped, slightly but used. They charged us $500 for the dog and another monthly extra $500 more for the new "rent". Then we moved out, too risky to live there, Taylor was plain nasty, we were afraid the BULLDOGS, the PITBULLS AND OF THE LIKE were NOT allowed in community living, he just simply shrug, saying he didn't consider those a problem. I called his attention many times, those cabinets were falling in pieces, he responded: "we don't fix things, when the tenant moves out then we take care of it" what an BAD ATTITUDE. They billed us $7000 for the "repairing of the floors and a month of rent in advance (we didn't break the lease) I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND ANYONE TO LIVE THERE. TRICKY DIRTY ADMINISTRATION. read more

Updated 2/25/2021: The indoor heated pool has been closed since January 11th--the heater broke and has yet to be replaced. Since the pool is the primary reason I chose to live here and pay the high rent, I am downgrading my rating from 4 to 3 stars. On most community issues the management is generally very good and responsive, (especially the community manager Lindsay who is amazing to work with) and at least they have regularly communicated to the residents via emails about the pool status and explained the difficulty/cost of the repair. However, the fact remains it is going on two months with no fix in sight and no reduction of price and that is very disappointing. I will update this review and rating once the pool is re-opened or reasonable concessions have been made. read more

I made of list of places to visit back in August and the Harrison was on the top of that list. There are few words that can fully capture the amazing atmosphere and people here. From the moment I walked in, I received 5 star service. The lady at the concierge desk opened the door for me and stood to greet me. They were doing some renovations when I visited and there was no visitor parking available, so she made accommodations for me and helped me settle in until Danica, the Leasing Consultant came to grab me. She was so sweet, professional and informative. She gathered the details of what I was looking for and presented a few options to see. The location: Located in the heart of Reston Town Center, there are several local shops and restaurants nearby. There are grocery stores in walking distance - Harris Teeter, Balducci's and Trader Joe's. It's also situated right by the W&OD trail which is awesome for those who like to bike or run. The amenities: NO WORDS!! It's AH-MA-ZING!!! I'm told this building was built to be condos so the amenities are like none I've seen at any other property. Indoor and outdoor pools, roof top deck/courtyard with grills and a fire pit. A gym that is large and well equipped. No shortage of machines here! There are private offices, conference rooms, a game room with pool tables, shuffle board etc. It's simply amazing! The service: Danica walked me thru the application/approval process, fees etc. She was so patient and kind. I never got a chance to see the roof top pool because I'm sure we viewed at least 4-5 units in addition to a tour of the property. She answered every question and I never felt rushed. I also had the pleasure of meeting Tyler, Cynthia and Sean and they too, are so professional and kind. They are all extremely knowledgeable and go the extra mile to get things done. The service received - par excellence!!! I never felt like they were doing what it took to get me to sign a lease. It was all genuine. Ultimately, I chose not to lease here just so I could be closer to work. However, if you're looking for a place in Reston, look no further. This place won't disappoint. I honestly want to give this place a great review because concierge staff is extremely friendly and the building is very well kept. However, it is not handicap friendly. They do not even have the Handicap button for any of the doors making it very difficult if you are in a wheel chair, on crutches or a scooter maneuvering by one's self. Secondly, management is TERRIBLE at returning emails. multiple times I had to literally go down to the front office to get simple questions answered. Also, we were without a washer and dryer for entire month and management was not willing compensate us for our inconvenience. Be sure to pre plan any hospital emergency visits or injuries because if you are late by a day making any payments or giving any notice you will be charged something ridiculous. My experience taught me there is no reasoning with management you can explain valid reasons for delay and even if you are a great tenant they appear to care more about the money. read more

I sat with Brandon who asked me a few questions about what I was looking for and my price range. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford to stay there because I was looking to pay $1900 Max on an apt. I brought my friend with me and Brandon didn't give us nasty looks he made us feel sooo welcome. Going on a tour of The Harrison was amazing! I cannot stress enough about the view from the rooftop. You cannot find a view like that from an apartment building in Reston. It was incredible. I kept having to remind myself that it was NOT a hotel, just a super beautiful apartment building. They have a HUGE indoor pool with big doors that open up on nice days to get a breeze. The pool is heated too so I love the idea of being able to go into a heated pool and watch the snow fall outside. AND, HELLO, you're at your OWN apartment so make a cup of coffee, come down to the pool in December, and go swimming while watching the snow fall outside. You can't beat that! Walking distance to Reston Town Center which is always a plus! I can't remember if there are studio apartments, but I do remember there's 1-3 bedroom units. One of the amazing things is the 3-bedroom apartments can have three bathrooms. No sharing! The residents that were around seemed kind. One guy had a golden retriever in the lobby, so it's pet friendly. I believe they also had a bowl of dog treats at the front desk. I think we were told the front desk has someone there 24 hours a day. The other thing I thought was cool was that they had board rooms and individual offices. If you are a work-from-home kinda person, it's so nice to go downstairs to the lobby and have the privacy of an individual office. No more conference calls in your closet or wifi from Starbucks! It was a beautiful apartment building, seemingly comparable to some of the apartment buildings in Arlington but less traffic, steps away from RTC, and quieter. read more

I just need to share - the management at Harrison are amazing! I recently returned home from travel and found my car to have a flat tire in the parking garage. It was early in the morning and I had a work appointment. Tyler Hall from the Harrison management team came down and pumped up my tire himself since his maintenance crew were still on their way to the property. I really appreciated this timely assistance and his empathetic care. I love living at the Harrison and would recommend it to anyone considering it! read more

The amenities are great, structure solid, and rooftop views gorgeous. This was my "COVID apartment" and the community of people were great. The concierge staff was always kind, helpful and worked so hard during the pandemic. The rating is low because of the leasing office staff. From the top down they act like elitist and just downright unprofessional. Every resident I knew and know felt the same way. They are rude and talk down to people who are paying $2K-$5K in rent. Why are there no minorities on the leasing office staff but the entire concierge staff is black? I'm white and thought this was just wrong and it stands out believe me. Ok I am ready to update my review: Matt promised that the mirrors would be up in the garage weeks ago, but they still aren't up. The trash chutes continue to not work and the main door from the elevators to the first floor of the garage has been broken for over a week. Last Thursday I filled out a request for a repair and never got a response. I checked in with the concierge today and now they are trying to help get me a repair guy. Lastly, I tried emailing Matt at the email address he has been giving on this site for feedback and have not gotten any response. When I asked the concierge if it was the right email they confirmed, but said I should call or schedule an appointment with Matt. Pretty amazing you need to schedule an appointment...The building is beautiful and the developer did a wonderful job. However, the management company leaves a lot to be desired. read more

What an incredible residential experience one can have if they lived here. Escort style loving. The convenience of Reston Town Center across the street and accessible underground is amazing but you may not want to leave when you see all they have to offer in their building. The lobby is incredible and their fireplaces with comfy chairs and couches to hang out. They offer a game room that features a table shuffle board game. There are two pools, one on the rooftop and one indoor. Oh the one on the rooftop is heated. Outside lounging areas with grills, fireplaces, and vs of course too. Have I enticed you? Wait there's more! They have a exercise room, yoga room, and a virtual golf experience. The apartments are nice. We toured the two bedroom two bath and found the fixtures and amenities to be awesome! Great service today. I had registered for an event that was open to the public a few months ago. I canceled within the time required for a refund and when I called to cancel, they were very nice and said I should see the credit within 30 Days. That did not happen and so I called PayPal and the website portal company where I registered. It was all very frustrating. I called Harrison and spoke to Vivian who said she would get back to me the next day. I was surprised when Tyler, the manager called me to say they would be happy to make the refund. I went to his office and within a few minutes I left cash in hand. I highly recommend the Harrison for doing what was right and with a smile! Thank you Vivian and Tyler. read more

I was looking to rent at this new property and was immediately turned off by the front desk woman and the man at the leasing office. Both of them had a crappy disposition, neither of them smiled, they had an attitude problem and were overall quite unpleasant. Ultimately, it was the reason I didn't rent there. The amenities extremely nice, that being said the bedrooms and living room spaces were extremely small, AND only get 1 parking space that's "assigned" (even if you get a 2 or 3 bedroom). In my opinion the rent amount was ridiculously high given its not even in the town center. I much preferred the Avant and the Cosmopolitan (formerly the Metropolitan) much better. The staff in at those properties were very welcoming and friendly. I'm glad I'm not moving to the Harrison. When I was there I felt as I was moving into a communist country with angry dictators. read more

I have lived here since The Harrison first opened and was one of the first 15 residents to move in. I don't personally know what happened with the first "review" by L.L. or their personal experience here. However, when someone has only posted two reviews on Yelp...ever...you can see that they are one of "those people" that only review something on the internet when they are angry. Management seems to be actively engaged in addressing concerns both in person and online. I'd like to assume that if someone were so quick to blast a place online they would update their review if/when it was resolved. I digress. I was one of the first residents to move in and have been in communication with management since last fall. Everyone has been extremely helpful, transparent and friendly, but above all Atif has really gone the extra mile! My job requires me to move every three years and I had the daunting task of relocating from Atlanta without much travel time to explore the area. Initially, I was pretty set on The Avant until I came across some information on The Harrison and called looking for information. The gentleman I spoke to was Atif. I explained my situation and told him that I had been considering Avant. He was so knowledgeable and genuinely excited about all of the amenities here to that I wanted to jump through the phone, sign the lease and move in that day! He has always been 100% transparent and honest in our dealings. Since moving in I have made sure to keep realistic expectations when living in a brand new building. There are some bugs that continue to rear their ugly heads, however, you have to consider that as a building that is not 100% complete you will have that. Talk to management or the friendly maintenance staff (Domingo and John) and they will tell you their hands are tied a bit by the fact that some of the items are covered by the manufacturers warranty and they literally can't do anything to repair some things that are still under warranty or outside contract. The elevators have bugs a few times a week. I have never been stuck just minor bugs, but I do understand that the elevators are the responsibility of the servicing company (Otis, Schiller, Kone) to maintain properly. The only thing The Harrison could do better is to really, really force the issue and FINALLY get them fixed. There are consistent issues with the trash chute. This has been an issue for too long and needs to be addressed, as well. I am in love with the amenities. I don't have to pay a penny extra for a gym membership because they have a full fitness center with spin class, yoga class, kickboxing and a free library of workouts you can access on your own 24/7. The dog park is fantastic and there are dog waste stations every 200 yards surrounding the building. I can grab my golf clubs, hop on an elevator and play a round of golf at Pebble Beach...UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE!!!! The fit and finish of this place is extremely high end. You do not get the feeling that anything is done cheaply. They get fresh flowers throughout the building, Washington post and magazines are available daily, pool table, shuffleboard (bar version) commercial kitchen, fresh ground Starbucks coffee ON DEMAND 24/7 and freshly baked cookies all day (coffee cake in the morning). They have dog walking service, dry cleaning pickup/dropoff and a concierge 24/7. A minor gripe is that there used to be water and soda's available by the coffee. That is no longer the case since some construction workers abused the privilege. I would like to see that brought back and maybe fresh fruit? Yes, there are a few issues with growing pains since The Harrison is still under construction. If you move in with realistic expectations and communicate concerns with management they will bend over backwards to help you. Actually, don't move here. Go somewhere else so I can use the amenities to myself! I have lived in a house for the past 5 years and was VERY tentative about apartment living due to noise concerns and thin walls. I have a very robust home theater and they only time my neighbors can hear anything at all is when I REALLY crank the 24" paradigm subwoofer to a ridiculous level. I did this just to test sound proofing. Other than that I have never heard my neighbors through a wall or ceiling. Not a single footstep! When you walk through the hallway sound escapes through the front door, but you can only hear that IN the hallway. I guess they could add horseback riding on the roof with a slide to RTC to fully satisfy my requirements of apartment living. I would give it 4.5 stars based off of that alone. ;) read more

The building is nice. Shoe box apartments with the typical sky-high Reston price tag. 600-sq ft apartment is running $1950 on the lower floors. They do have some nice amenities, though. The thing I find interesting is their application requirements to live here. 6-months of bank statements and W-2's are an odd requirement for a rental in my opinion. Asking for pay stubs, admin, amenity, application fees I can understand. Pay stubs and a call to an employer are more than enough to verify income. Unless this apartment comes with a large line of credit or a mortgage, they're asking for too much personal info. This is the only complex I've looked at in the area that is asking for so much info. Pass. EDIT: Thanks for the reply, Karen. I was not made aware that bank statements and W-2's only applied to self-employed applicants. I have been employed with the same company for over a decade, I was caught off guard when I read the initial email about income verification. Thanks for the clarification. After living at the Harrison for some months, I changed my rating from two stars to three stars. "Things" have definitely improved since my first review. In a short time, I could foresee increasing my rating. I will provide the positives and negatives. Positives First, there is new management. The prior manager was unresponsive and seemed overwhelmed; the new management works hard to fix problems. Second, there is a very nice fitness center and pool. The common areas are impressive. Third, the concierge staff works very hard to assist tenants. Fourth, in general, the management keeps the building very clean. Negatives First, the "garbage chutes" on each floor only work 3 or 4 days a week. On the days the chutes don't work, tenants have no choice but to leave garbage on the floor in front of the chute. As a result, the hallways frequently smell like rotting garbage. There is a "garbage" room in the parking area and, on occasion, garbage also builds up in that room. Some tenants have reported rodents in the parking garage area...however, I can not confirm that allegation. Second, the building maintenance staff is unhelpful and, at times, rude. On two separate occasions, I have witnessed the head of the maintenance staff "having words" with a tenant about a repair. Some tenants have told me that the only way to have a maintenance problem fixed is to give the head of the maintenance staff a "tip" prior to the attempted repair. Other tenants find it less expensive and more certain to hire their own electricians and plumbers to address maintenance issues. Third, the builders did not install the windows correctly. The supposedly "sealed" windows are not sealed. When it is cold and/or windy, cold air blows through the edges of the windows and condensation forms on the windows creating wet spots/puddles on the floor. Some tenants have reported damage to their furniture as a result of the window problems. The negatives are annoyances (no building is perfect) and, in general, the Harrison is an apartment building worth considering Also, it is worth noting that the Harrison management (has in the past and may still) offers tenants and non-tenants a financial incentive for writing favorable reviews. The incentives are either a gift certificate to a nearby restaurant or a one month reduction in rent. Therefore, as you read other reviews, you may want to discount any review that sounds like an advertisement. read more

Front desk staff is very helpful, fellow residents are very nice and social (rare for an apartment community) and the amenities are amazing (never expected to take spin class in my place of residence). Excellent High End Apartments, great amenities & great staff & outstanding leasing team.

There is no doubt that this place has had some issues, but it seems like things are getting under control. The location is great and the amenities are for the most part excellent. I use the gym and conference rooms the most and I am highly satisfied. The ladies at the front desk are always very nice to me and my pet. Dealing with two towers of high maintenance people can't be easy.... I would like to see more mirrors in the garage. The one that has been placed is great when entering the garage; however, I cannot see entering vehicles from where I exit. Twice I nearly hit the vehicle entering the garage. read more

If the Harrison couldn't get things done before, it is now far worse since the entire North tower flooded from the 10th floor to the garage. If your unit was delivered unfinished or with issues, don't expect anyone to care. All they care about is getting more tenants. If you are unhappy once you get here, that's your problem. Promises are doled out to get you to go away. Follow through not happening. read more
