Example of why I like living at Fairchase. My new apartment has a gas fireplace that I was not excited about when I changed from another apartment in the complex to this one. With a power outage possible, I decided to learn more about it. Teddy not only quickly started it functioning. He took the time to explain exactly how it works. Now that I understand how different it is from an old fashioned set of gas logs, I am looking forward to having it and using it when the I need a comforting respite before a small safe open fire. read more

Let me start by saying me and my finacé love our apartment and it has been perfect for us. Our units was recently updated and it is really beautiful inside. Maintenance is so helpful and always there for you. Now, since more apartments have been updated (my upstairs neighbors) I guess with the new floors and taking out the carpet has allowed me and my partner to hear EVERYTHING, every move they make, their conversations, if they are laughing or crying we can hear it, we can also hear them in the bathroom which is right above ours (very intrusive) They had a sound system that was outrageously loud to the point I emailed management many times and it never got a response, so of course I took it into my own hands being that I'm the one that has to deal with this on a daily. Spoke to the neighbor and the sound System has not been an issue, still dealing with the loud talking and foot steps. I understand we live in close quarters so noise is to be expected when people are living their lives, But it does get to a point where if I can't sit in my own apartment and enjoy it without hearing others constantly it is an issue. Now the garage door just recently got fixed again... we pay for parking and my partners car was broken into and had things stolen due to anyone being allowed in. They also had charging stations on the second floor, in the most convenient spots for residents... no one asked for them... and it really doesn't make sense why they chose to place them directly next to the building doors where residents mostly park at. Overall this is a good starter place, and it right across the streets from an elementary school! it does get quite noisy with the neighbors and management will not help with that. Pricing is kinda ridiculous but we can you expect being close to DC. I would recommend to live here to anyone there going to ups and downs of any place you look at. This place definitely has more good than bad & you can't beat the location! read more

I have lived here for one decade. The management office is really kind and responsive, especially Jason, Richard, Shamaiah, and Caroline. If you have any issues in your apartment, Alhassan, Teddy, Frank, and Marcos fix everything quickly and are very professional. They just renovated the gym and there are brand new treadmills in the gym. I am very happy here and am glad to see they continue to renovate and improve the property all of the time. There is a nice five mile running loop outside my door. Also, Fairfax corner and the government center and walking distance. read more

Overall a wonderful place to live. The manager Jason really cares about the residents and the rest of the staff, including maintenance, have worked really hard to make sure that everything is taken care of. I have lived here for a number of years and over the last couple of years I have seen really positive improvements. I can not even begin to tell you how HORRIBLY disappointed we are with Archstone Fairchase. I wont complain about the constantly broken garage gate, the overflowing trash rooms or the nickel and diming - $35 for a parking space - this is Fairfax people - not northwest DC. Lets just talk rent. We rented a 2bdrm/2bath a year ago - 12 month lease. We moved from downtown so $1835 seemed like a DEAL! Then about two months before our lease was up we got a notice that based on how long we renewed for our monthly rent could go up anywhere from $300 to $585 a month. $585 for month to month. Yup. Can you say feeling raped? Well today - just 7 days after our lease expired we received another note and guess what - the month to month is GOING UP MORE! Yup. So now it's gone from 30% to 40% from what we paid when we signed our original lease. $2570 for this? REALLY? NO THANK YOU! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? If you were considering moving here before I hope this helps you change your mind. I realize they want us to renew but some of us dont want to. We're building a house and figured going month to month for 2 or 3 months would not be too bad. Well now were thinking we'd rather go move to a hotel for a few weeks than fork over $2570 in just rent. Plus parking. And dog. And storage. You will be nickel and dimed. If thats your thing - go for it. But if you have half a brain - which is more than the entire office staff I might add - AVOID ARCHSTONE FAIRCHASE. You'll thank me. read more

Fairchase was the best place my fiancée and I ever rented from and lived in. We lived on the first floor in a beautiful updated apartment for just under 3 years. The ONLY reason we recently moved is because we bought property, not for any reason on Fairchase. The office staff; Jason, Tyler, Steph, and Richard were always amazing and friendly. They learned our names quickly despite the fact that they had hundreds of residents on the property and we even became friends! Any issues we had in the apartment Jason and the maintenance team would quickly fix it or rectify the situation. They were always helpful even during the trying times of Covid the last few months. We had a relatively good experience with our neighbors, parking was easy, paying rent online was simple, requesting maintenance online was quick, and we a great time living at fairchase. The office staff and general community will be deeply missed. read more

Stopped by this location today to get information on pricing, deposits, and upcoming availability. I was asked "How can I help you" (didn't smile and tone was very monotone) I stated I was had been to the website and wanted to get some additional information since I am planning to relocate in May. I kid you not I was interrupted mid sentence and advised "we don't have any appointments available today so let me get you some information". She left her desk and returned with a paper with the pricing etc. (photo attached). Not once did she offer to give me a tour of the property or share any information about the amenities. She said can I get your name and number so we can call you when we have an appointment (I guess you need an appointment to tour the property). I told her there was no need because I didn't want to be contacted. Very rude. Went down the street to Camden Fairfax Corner and had a good experience! If the employees are rude upfront I can't imagine how they are once your under a contract. No thank you! Also the rude employee didn't have on a bade but she was a African American woman (wearing eyeglasses) sitting at the large desk to the right when you come in. read more

Just moved into this apartment complex and could not be happier. The apartment complex is great with swimming pools and a great staff. The manager has personally sent me a email thanking me for being here and joining in their Community. Apartment is very very roomy for a one bedroom and I am used to a lot more square feet but they've done it well cannot give enough Accolade how satisfied I am with this complex. I have lived at Archstone Fairchase for two years. The apartment was beautiful. Nice appliances, great bathroom fixtures and tub. In my first year here, i noticed there would be a light tapping sound in the ceiling when the water would run in my apartment. It sounded like a drip but was told that's just the pipes. This year it is far louder and sounds like someone knocking. And it happens when my neighbors run their water now. There is a parking structure that comes at a cost, but the garage gate has been broken for most of my time here. I believe it was working for maybe a week in my entire time here. The trash is overflowing at times, and its just from lazy tenants. I would test the trash door and it's open. But people don't get penalized for making the place look like such a mess. My main complaint, and reason I am leaving are certain front desk staff. When i first lived in the property Britney and Jake were super awesome, made every effort to make my time here enjoyable. Then I had the misfortune to have to deal with other front desk personnel and property manager.Like others reviewed before, there is a lot of nickel and diming. I was told I would need to pay a "one-time" pet fee twice, because I had my pet stay at my bf's place for a bit. Then got a call later that it would just be an application fee. This all happened after Jake was nice enough to just take the dog off the lease for the time and put it back on. But the other staff member told me she "didn't care what jake did" and told me that the fees would be charged again. So I opted to keep the dog at my bf's place where he would get his pet deposit back. This is just one incident of many with these two individuals. They are very rude, and when you go in to ask for a parking pass or package it seems like you are interrupting them and it's such a hassle for them to just do their job. In an earlier review, a reviewer mentioned packages going missing. I had that happen and went to the front desk to see what could be done. They just looked at me like "its not my problem" and told me I would need to take care of it myself. I feel it would just be considerate to let future potential residents what to be on the look out for. The property is beautiful but certain staff may not make them enjoy their time here. If anything, they would be able to look for Jake and Britney and just deal with them if anything because I have no complaints as far as they are concerned. They have been great. Maggie's flip flopping on topics have been an issue. And as I mentioned archstone did move to equity, but Maggie has been here since I moved in, which was before the change to equity. Another review even commented on her claim in the apartment ratings site above. The garage issue hasn't been addressed, and we were even given an email stating that the garage door does not add any cost to the parking fee. I thought the parking fee is to help with the maintenance of the structure which would include the garage door. This place is like a Jungle. The management here will not fix or take responsibility for anything. They like to charge you for everything. I live here for 2 months but cannot wait to get out. I am considering breaking my lease due to maintenance issues and false charges on our bill. I brought this up to the office manager and she was very rude and said there is nothing she could do about it. Trash is always overfill and the smell could kill a small elephant. My biggest problem with this place so far is that the management will try to steal from you at every chance they get. For that reason I AM OUT!! read more

I know I've only lived here for a couple of months, but each day at Fairchase has been wonderful. The apartment itself is a dream--gorgeous high ceilings, (faux) hardwood floor, and stainless steel appliances. The staff is so incredibly helpful and friendly, and Jason runs the office very well. They are understanding about parking, packages, pretty much any issue that may come up. The grounds are well maintained, people clean up after their pets for the most part, I feel safe, and my dog is loving it here! The only thing I'd say is to watch out for the mosquitoes when you move in! There are quite a few of them but bug spray solved the issue for my dog and I. Fairchase is also close to GMU, my school, and even though my commute to Alexandria can be a little long some days it is sooo worth it living here! We have been here for 3 years and absolutely loved the place. We recently moved out because we could no longer afford the place, plus we decided to live closer to where the kids will go to school. The price is a little high, but worth every penny if you can afford it. The staff is amazing and extremely helpful. We get emails from the community manager on updates, upcoming maintenance, events, etc. This is very helpful and a great way they try to communicate with everyone. Maintenance is the best I have ever seen. They will come the same day or the next day latest to attend to any issues you may have. The grounds are kept well maintained and clean. My only complaint about the place are bugs. That too on the outside not inside the apartment. Inside you will see your common spiders and what not, but outside last year we saw some mutant big spiders that completely freaked me out. If it is not winter, I would always have a heart attack trying to open my apartment door, thinking some creature is lurking outside it. I know that's not the fault of the staff here and almost weekly someone comes by and cleans the hallways. Aside from the bugs outdoors, it is the best place you will possibly ever live. The apartments are beautiful inside and are bigger than other newer apartments out there nowadays. It has a garage which is helpful all year round, keeps your car cool in the summer and out of the snow in the winter. I wish we didn't have to move. Will miss this place a lot. read more

I have lived here for 9-1/2 years, literally since just a few months after the place opened. I moved into the apartment brand new, and I generally take care of things so I cannot complain at all about the quality or appearance of the interior. Everything still basically looks almost brand new. In 10 years I can say things have gone up and down quite a bit. The place has been changed at least two times to different property management companies. There have been several community managers. I have to say though, the current staff here has been around for a couple years now steadily and it is definitely the best team they have ever had here. If you take the time to actually stick around and chat with them, they are all very friendly. Having a good relationship with them rather than a hostile one also tends to help you out when it comes time to negotiate renewals. The maintenance staff has also been pretty steadily the same people for a few years now and most issues are fixed the same day, or at most by the next day. When the microwave broke, they had a brand new one installed by the next day. The property is generally clean and well maintained. However, this is an apartment building. People who are complaining about trash left in the trash rooms, the community does not have cameras installed and cannot police every person. I have literally seen them though when trash is left in the rooms going through the bag to figure out who did it so they can be fined. They do the best they can considering the property has something close to 300 units. Also, people complaining that a trash room smells bad? Seriously? Along those same lines, this is a large community and there will be ignorant people. Over the years I have had people who played music loud and sound like elephants walking around but again, it is an apartment and not a single family home. You will have people living on all sides of you. The construction is mostly concrete, so it is quieter than many places I have lived but if you are looking for dead silence then an apartment is not for you. The amenities are nice, they kind of sell the place on their own. Only the newer communities out in Fairfax have garage parking, tall ceilings, elevators, and the other general upgrades available here. I have also seen other reviews of people complaining of lost packages. My wife and I order online religiously and I have never had a package lost or stolen. Almost all of them go to the office, but every once in a while one gets left at the door. I have been on vacation when a package was left at the door and it was still there when I got back. All the gates around the community do kind of give a false sense of security cause they can easily be gotten around, but virtually every gated community has the same problem. It is impossible to completely lock down a property this large with so many entry points. The neighborhood is safe though. There is an elementary school directly across the street and in 10 years I have never heard of any serious crimes committed nearby or at the property. It is on a pretty quiet residential street. I am not sure what else I can say, for apartment living I cannot imagine it getting much better than this community. If you are in the market for a place, the staff here right now is absolutely the best it has ever been in the last 10 years. read more

I am posting an additional review for the Fairchase in Fairfax, VA after a recent incident that occurred. For 8 months I was trying to get my deposit back from Washington Gas. Fairchase had nothing to do with this situation and after 8 months I finally reached out to Jason Albright to let him know what was going on. Within 24hrs, the Fairchase team was able to help me resolve my issue with Washington Gas and now I am able to put this behind me! I cannot thank this Fairchase team enough-- even after I was no longer a resident they stepped up to help me out. Can only say the best of things about this place and their team. read more

I lived at this apartment community for over a year and it was the worst year of my life. Let's start with the positives.... None. With that said here are the negatives: 1. Parking - While they recommend you purchase a parking pass they have tow trucks monitor the parking lot regularly. If you forget to place your parking sticker, or fill out the visitors form incorrectly, bam they got you. They will tow your car quickly and costly (for you). I think they get a kick back from the tow company. 2. The Apartments - The units are older and require a great amount of maintenance, my units air conditioner broke during the summer and took a week to get the parts in and fix the unit. Also the dryer broke, the ceiling fan never worked correctly and they never spray for bugs. 3. Court and Fees - Let's say you miss a rent payment or pay them late. Yes! They get to take you to court. How long do they wait... 5 days. In the lease, the lawyer can charge you 25 - 33% of the late fees. So if you owe the apartment complex $2,000 the lawyer can get an extra $500.00. bringing the total to $2,500.00. plus court costs. If it goes this far. People have problems lose their job, etc if you make a mistake they will extract the maximum amount of money from you as they can and Yes! Place a judgment on your credit report. 4. Metro - There is no subway, only the city bus so why pay $2,000 to live in this hell hole when there are so many better places to live. 5. Fairfax Bus - With no Metro Access, after they tow your car you will have to catch a ride to get around. Luckily for you this place has no shopping, no metro, but is close to the Fairfax Government Center. Have Fun! 6. Street Parking - With your car out of the parking garage and parked safely on the street, the city of Fairfax drives by and checks the tags and license plates of your vehicle. Welcome to communist Fairfax... 7. The Staff - To describe them, let me say, they suck! Unprofessional, uncaring, all they want to do is to trick you into moving into there awful apartment complex. Do yourself a favor and run away. read more

DO NOT RENT HERE!!! The place is nice but quite expensive for what you get. The main problem is the people who work at the front desk. They are plain rude. No other way to say it. I do like staying at the Fairchase Apartments, and aside from normal issues you may see occur at most complexes, the complex is nice and well kept except for some entryways, hallways etc. the apartment itself is beautiful and I have not had any issues so far. I would give 4 stars or maybe even 5. However, this is NOT a Breath- Free community, they do not take smoking seriously at Fairchase, and many people freely smoke/drink on all parts of this property. I moved in about a month ago and it was one of the best decisions! It's not cheap but for the area rent is average and you get a gorgeous upgraded apartment. They make it easy to pay rent online (even have an iPhone app!), the gym is open 24 hrs, and the pool just opened up this week! It's gated, but the only true complaint I have is the garage door is broken and always open, but they keep you updated on the repair status. It's not any noisier than other apartments I've lived in and I rarely hear my neighbors. There are kids/families but also a lot of young 20 somethings, too. Overall I really love it here! read more

Do not move here. Jason the property manager and Alhassan the Maitenance supervisor will tell you you're complaining too much and making their job too difficult if you submit any Maitenance requests (yes this is what they actually said to me verbatim) because they're too lazy to do their jobs correctly god forbid. Constant leaks that don't get fixed correctly because the Maitenance staff is lazy and doesn't have proper training. Extremely high humidity levels in apt at all times no matter how many dehumidifiers I used (bad for mold and allergy sensitive people like myself). The breezeways consist of drywall that's exposed to outdoor air; worst building design in the world. Drywall is essentially paper so it ends up absorbing everything that goes on outside, making mold a huge issue at this complex. Wash machines constantly leak. Mine leaked every week no joke and so did my neighbors that lived directly in front of me. His leaked so bad to where it nearly flooded the hallway and left a water stain in the breezeway drywall which was never tested for mold or remediated even after I made Jason the property manager and the regional manager well aware of it. Jason is also extremely fake and will make your life a living hell. He came into my apt on numerous accounts and verbally yelled at me and harassed me for things that he failed to fix on his property such as a gas leak, constant toilet and wash machine leaks, and mold which I'm highly allergic to. I've never been treated that way by a property manager in my life. I have a fiend who was in my apt with me on one of the occasions and witnessed Jason yelling at me and harassing me. If they could get a normal property manager who isn't a narcissist and a good Maitenance staff who is properly trained then this property would be great but sadly it's jason and his Maitenance team that make it a living hell. I also had a problem with snakes (I was on the first floor, but still). I made Jason aware of the snakes and he said there's nothing he could do because he doesn't work in the snake trapping business is what he said verbatim. Professional, right? I had baby snakes that had gotten into my apt and still nothing was done. One of my neighbors saw a big full size one and still nothing was done. Also the gate for the parking garage was broken for the last 3 weeks I lived here. And random people constant jump the fences so it's not as safe as it appears to be. I was so happy once I moved out of here. Also, 99% of the reviews on here were written by the staff and their friends. The entire staff lives on the property and so does Maitenance and their friends. Not what I expected! It's incredibly noisy, from outside and from the neighbor upstairs. You can hear them vacuuming, walking, & some noises from their shower floor. You cannot sleep late on a Saturday because you have the recycling truck sharp at 9 am picking up trash and the landscape company working even before 9 am. The master shower of the 1,175 sq ft size apartment is tiny (30 x 32 inches or 2.6 x 2.5 sq ft!) You can hardly move!! The bathroom has a wide bath tub, but I don't like tubs or taking daily bath!! I like to "shower" every day. It was really unfortunate that in order to secure the apartment we went only with the video and visiting another empty apartment. In general, the apartments are well set, but it's when you move in that you see the things that don't work. They use some product for the kitchen and bathroom cabinets that smells so strong that the smell has lasted already for 20 days and has affected our respiratory system. They told me it was non-toxic, but that doesn't help. All dishes smell to it no matter we have kept them open for weeks already! I wouldn't mind paying more if some of the issues could be taken care, but the buildings are what they are already. Now that fall has started they informed us about some apartments experience flooding if they forget that when the temperature is lower than 50C outside, you cannot use only cold water in the washer. The question is "what if a neighbor forgets"? We will then suffer the consequences no matter how careful we are! read more

I worked with Jake to find the perfect apartment for my husband, myself and our son. We found one we loved but then needed to move earlier and Jake was able to work with us. The price and quality is awesome for Fairfax. There are other nice apartment communities in Fairfax, but they are just way over priced!!! I really love Julie, the manager and also the maintenance team. They respond to service requests quickly and resolve things. The office team is very helpful if we ever have questions. One thing I love about living here is how the grounds are kept clean and trimmed. Oh and I don't know if it's just our luck but I NEVER hear my neighbor. I have lived at this community for several years now and I have become more and more concerned with the safety of my family and property while living at this community. There is frequent police activity going on here. There have been numerous vehicles vandalized: with either broken windows or being left on blocks with no tires! Specifically three vehicle this past week have been left without tires. This is extremely troubling for my family and I. I am worried for the safety of all residents of Fairchase Apartments. We pay extra monthly to keep our vehicles in this gated garage and have not noticed any new security features in the community to help combat these frequent criminal activities. The rent is not cheap and would like to know that some of that is being put into ensuring the safety of the community members and their property. read more

Great location, kind of tucked away from the craziness of Fairfax. Walking distance to Wegmans and Fairfax Corner, can't really ask for much more.
