Found this gem of a B&B almost by accident but we were so glad we did. Charming and cozy, it's a perfect place to get a sense of small town life. Sitting in chairs in front of place with Fred, a resident cat in your lap, feeling the cool evening breeze and waving at the occasional truck driving by felt like a visit to a long ago era. We loved every minute, even when the town sirens went off, summoning firemen to take care of a grass fire. Syd, the owner of the hotel, usually makes food for the firemen after a fire but this one was small and quickly contained so they weren't hungry. Syd is also a local EMT which was a bit of a comfort in such a rural area.
Local lore says the place was originally a whore house, explaining the number of bedrooms, 10. Apparently if you ask the local older women, they'll say that's not true but the local older men will say "yep, I remember my dad dropping me off there and saying, don't tell your Ma."
A homemade breakfast is included and in true B&B fashion, it's eaten in a room with other guests where you can swap travel stories and get pointers on other places to visit.
All in all, a completely delightful experience. read more
