On every vacation we go to, we always aim to head to local toy shops. So running into this joint this afternoon in Salem was a dream come true. Walking in, you are bombarded with every toy, comic and collectable imaginable. I was ready to find anything that I can add my to husband's collection. My husband is an avid collector of Transformers. Especially anything that's a Decepticon. I found the display of Blokees. Blokees does an amazing job with their Transformers collection. But my husband has completed a majority of the collections. But I did see Tarn and didn't know if he had it so I grabbed it just in case. I then made my way to some comics right by the Blokees. Unfortunately, I didn't see anything Transformers related. So when this sweet associate was walking past me, I pepped up real quick and asked her. She navigated me to the other side of the store. That's where all the magic was. Figurines, comics and Funko Pops. I weaved through 4 different collections of Transformers Comics and found a couple gems. I'm so excited that all 6 of the comics I got had Decepticons on the covers of them. 5 were Soundwave, my husband's favorite character. They were perfectly packaged with a hard backing to help maintain the integrity of the comic. I checked out with the sweetest employees. They were all so kind and helpful! I did end up not purchasing Tarn since my husband already had it. No pressure about not getting it and the associates were kind and put it away for me. This toy store exceeded my expectations. The employees are so kind. It literally has everything you can think of under one roof. A collectors dream come true. I'm so happy we ran into this toy store! I am excited that I found some treasures for my husband. If only all toy stores could be like this one. I'm sad that my husband couldn't experience this store with me. But if we ever come back to Salem, we will be heading to this store first. read more

Since getting involved with playing different TCG's games, I have been coming to Harrison's constantly for all my related goods. I have participated in several events that they have hosted and with the massive collection of goods, I always feel like there's something for me to buy! In addition to their selection, the amazing communities, welcoming employees and environment, it is my go to shop! That being said, while I love the store, there is one glaring problem I've been experiencing. The basement, where I usually spend most of my time, has become unbearable! The heat always seems to be on max at all times or the ac isn't ever on and this issue has gotten to the point that I can't spend more than 5 minutes without sweating. Because of that, it loses a star on my review. I hope they can fix this issue especially with summer on its way! read more

Harrison's is such a gem- My son and I enjoy coming here every time we are visiting Salem! The store is huge with two floors and something for everyone. The second floor (downstairs) is packed with Pokémon cards and other trading cards sold as singles and in bulk, plus they host battles there which is awesome. Upstairs you'll find collectibles and more, from comic books and records to books and fun novelty toys. Super nostalgic, very well organized, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. If you're in Salem and into comics, cards, games, or pop culture, this place is definitely worth checking out! read more

This comic book store might as well be called an art gallery. All of the different art on the walls and statues and figures in cases were great. They have a huge selection of back issues. A little pricey, but what do you expect from a store in a tourist area. The staff are crazy friendly. This store has a lower level which is all of their cards, Pokemon, MTG, Sports, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc... I was visiting out of town from NY and they treated me very well in the basement in the TCG section. New Japanese Pokemon set was $5 better prices than local shops here in NY. Tons of cards, responsibly priced, tons of single cards. You could spend $5-$10 and leave very happy. They had a whole floor for comics and collectibles. Even candy. Staff was warm and friendly. More people of color would've been perfect but it was my first visit and I don't have a good point of reference. Besides that a perfect experience! read more

This shop is a dream for comic book fans and has a large selection for non-fans to browse and get lost in. I was amazed by all of the items on display and saw so many items I wanted. The shop is organized by interest and easy to navigate despite having such an enormous selection. We spent almost an hour just browsing the aisles at Harrison's comics. Don't give this place your money. If a new comic that comes out and has a lot of hype they tell everyone they are sold out.when they're not. Th the books off the shelves and hide them so they can raise the prices. How is the everyday comic buyer supposed to afford crazy jacked up prices on new books the day they come out. I come to this comic/pop culture store every year when I come visit Salem. Inside is always organized & they have a lot of merch. Prices can get high due to some of the products being rare. Everyone is always friendly. This year they had more workers. I def will be back! I absolutely LOVED Harrison's Comics and Pop Culture shop! This was a giant shop filled with comics of all kinds (from Doctor Who to compendiums). They also had a ton of collectible figurines and even had a whole Disney section of figurines. This shop also has masks, pins, and even welcoming mats. It has it all! It really was fun to browse around. There were a few items I was interested in but it was quite busy inside so I ended up leaving empty handed (boo). PROS: This has got to be the best comic book store I've ever been in!!!! They had everything; toys, games, comic books, figurines, life size statues, just...EVERYTHING. I'm not even that big into super hero and I came in here a few times! The staff is very nice and helpful too. CONS: This place overcharges for things. I've been a comic collector well over 30 years. I'd heard about Harrisons..just never made the trip. Very glad I took a chance.. My nephew and a coworker of mine accompanied me as they were hobbymen as well. Upon entering? Overwhelmed doesn't even come close to the experience. This place is HUGE! Its like a department store for comics..from dollar bins..to recents..back issues for MILES and even hard to find variants..overall im sure together we spent well over 300.00..and this was AFTER we stopped at another comic shop in the next town .....so why only 3 stars?? I could tell that some of the workers were uncomfortable.. My nephew had a ring from the previous store we were at ( they not only were having a half price sale but they gave out free stuff.. the ring was one of the free items. "So...are you gonna pay for that ring?" My nephew smiled and responded that he received it for free at another store (mind you you have to walk past the front register to purchase one of Harrisons as they sat in a bowl at the front door... When it was time for my coworker to check out (he brought some expensive statues and some other things..) another young man (seemingly frazzled for some reason says) " well I just need to know where these are going!"....I repeated "Thank you" over and over again and that it was our 1st time (we drove from Canton) as they looked obviously nervous. My coworker and friend paid for his stuff and after taking a few cards we left. Both my nephew and friend/coworker were upset. My nephew looked at me and said "and you wonder why I dont go anywhere" Unfortunately Im used to it. Nevertheless it was a quiet ride back to Boston Guys a word of advice? Not everyone that looks like us is out to get you. Some of us love the hobby and have money to spend. Salem is a beautiful town and Harrisons is an amazing store. You may have had other situations in the past dealing with people but you cannot treat everyone the same...its obvious and hurtful. I've visited comic shops all over and I've never found one that kept me looking for hours and hours, because I just knew I would keep finding amazing items that I had not seen elsewhere. If there is ANY element of pop culture you enjoy, you will not leave empty-handed. The staff was helpful, respectful, and made sure that items that were out of place or mis-filed were back where they belonged for the next customer. This is not a shop where you see dozens of collector comics on "sale" for thousands of dollars, but rather a shop for everyone, lottery winnings not required. If you're a geek then get your horn-rims over here and peep out this phun AF geek store. It is well stocked and is a wicked big geek shop with a diversity of things to suit most geeks. I should state that I am not a comic book geek so I can not provide info about the comic selections. I am a statue and action-figure geek. Even my One enjoyed this place and she loves Kermit the Frog and there were several cool and even rare KTF items. Prices seemed varied. Some things were decent deals and some things were overpriced compared to if you simply shopped on the net. But sometimes it's worth it to pay extra if you can get your geek item in hand on the spot and take it home right then to geek out on. I bought a few Elvira items and had to refrain from "going mental" and buying tons of stuff. I also bought a Jap anime warrior-babe PVC fig to add to my fig fed. One complaint: Though I do not believe it to be Harrison's fault, this upcoming heinous happening was traumatic to me. I scored a pre-owned Jap statue of Hit Girl in an apparently unopened sealed box with Hit Girl depicted on the box art with her blue plaid girl's school mini skirt and tie. But when I got her home to geek out on her and busted the box open, what was inside was a "bait and switch" as she was a cheaper "variant" and had a plain solid color red mini and tie instead of the plaid. I was devastated. I believe that the geek who sold it to Harrison's saved the plaid one for his geek needs and pulled a fast one by switching in the red mini dress version. That is a bad geek. A very bad geek... perhaps even an evil one. I also bought Plane Crazy which is a sepia-tone Mickey Mouse sculpture for my One. It was a bargain at 45 bucks and had the original box. They have tons of statues and action figures from high-end to low-end type. However there are virtually no grail items here as these are rarely available other than on the net or rarely at the few geek stores peppered throughout the country. No geek in their right mind would sell a grail at way below its worth point to a geek shop as a middle-man (middle-geek). As a caveat don't expect to find the Tweeterhead Elvira: Your Heart Belongs to Me or the Prime 1 Killer Croc, etc., here at Harrison's. Nor are you likely to find Phicean fem figs or choice Hot Toys stuff. No WWE two-ups or MOTU He-Man Wonder Bread mail-aways either. Oh well... I may add that much of the geek items here are "used" but that simply means it is way cheaper than new but you don't get the rush that all geeks get by opening a brand new item. Wonderful comic, toys, games, collectibles shop in Salem. They have an excellent and reasonably priced selection in all categories. I was surprised to not only see decent new Magic the Gathering product available, but a glass case dedicated to singles (Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh too), which is not super common for shops like this. The shop itself is not super organized in some spaces, namely the bigger boxed toys. With so much inventory to get out I am sure this is a challenge, and most comic shops suffer the same with the overload of product available these days. Overall I would call this a must check out for any level of collector, as you will likely find something neat. read more

Not great customer service. I came in from out of town. Wanted to treat myself with something nice for my birthday, and was excited to see there was a shop nearby. I went in and saw massive stacks of books on the wall. The one I usually collect is Tomb of Dracula. I stood at the counter for a good ten minutes trying to get someone's attention and nothing. The 2 employees near the books were both doing the same job (wiping framed prints) and I gotta say I felt actively ignored. I left. If I could give zero stars I honestly would. An employee (girl with blue hair) made a mockery of this establishment today. A friend myself her children and their father were all in Salem today shopping. My friend and her AUTISTIC son were in the back when he got so excited that he had a little "meltdown". His usual stims and excitement often come out in screams and yells like a lot of neurodivergent people. Well HIS FATHER and older brother were in the check out line when the employee in question said to her coworker and the rest of the line, "if any kid comes in here acting like that I'm going to smack the shit out of them". I can't even express the level of sadness and disgust I feel. You can imagine how this young boys family feels! TO TOP THIS OFF- when his mother wrote an email explaining what happened they brushed her off with a 2 sentence response. Upon calling the establishment she was HUNG UP ON and they removed reviews and tags via Facebook. I would never completely fault an establishment for a shit worker- sometimes shitty ppl slip through the cracks! But the fact that after an email and calls this is what we get? I'm truly hoping that the owner sees this and handles the situation. I can't imagine this is how they hoped their store to be ran. PATHETIC! Had we not planned our whole trip about being mindful around Armin'a ASD and making sure there were low crowds during our visit to Salem I would maybe understand some frustration but never to the level of violent rhetoric over an autistic 3 year old being an autistic 3 year old. However, we were walking around in there for quite a while and neither of the staff spoke to us or asked us if we needed any help there. They weren't deliberately rude. Just neglectful. Most of the employees in here are very nice but the guy running the Pokémon cards is a little too big for his own head. Asking him about pull-rates and such he'll always tell you how he's "pulled so many" of whatever card you're looking for in a laud way but not have any in store for you. Prices are a little high like most comic shops, the times of local stores beating out major retailer prices are loooooong gone. Great place to shop around in, but just don't let the employees bother you or talk your ear off and you'll be good read more

I was not into comics at all, but seeing all the stuff here was bewildering at the time, all the merchandise available is pretty impressive. There is an amazing selection of comic books and geek-culture paraphernalia throughout this shop. They also do carry a lot of older comics as well. The store is fairly large, well lit, clean, and actually amazingly organized. The comics are organized by publisher then title for new comics, or by title if you're looking for older comics. read more
