Silver Moon Comics is basically what happens when Walmart action figures put on a horror mask and move to Salem. The walls are crammed with figurines, masks, and memorabilia--some genuinely cool, some you could find online for half the price if you can spell "Amazon." But hey, Salem tax is real, and apparently nostalgia comes with a surcharge. The store itself is brightly lit, which sort of kills the "spooky collectible" vibe and makes it feel more like you're shopping in a dentist's waiting room with masks on the wall. Window displays draw you in, but once inside it's a quick lap and you're done. Definitely not a place you'll get lost digging through hidden treasures--unless you consider Funko Pops a rare find. The staff? Friendly, technically. If they talk to you at all. Some days you'll get a warm hello, other days you'll wonder if you accidentally broke into the store after hours. Overall: it's fine. Quick in, quick out, nothing offensive but nothing remarkable. Three stars for existing, charging too much, and reminding me that in Salem, even plastic monsters cost a premium. read more

Been coming to the store for a number of years and it never ceases to just please me. It is run by a great husband and wife team who I have had the pleasure of speaking to a number of times when I have been in there. A huge variety of comics memorabilia Funko pops pretty much anything that you can think of they have in the store. If you happen to be a horror enthusiast, such as myself then you will totally love this place! I myself have purchased about 25 different figures from this shop over the years and gotten a couple of autographed things as well. To me the store is way better than any of the other shops that sell memorabilia are. I always look forward coming in here and shopping. Silver Moon was my first stop when I went to Salem, Massachusetts. So many comic book stores have closed by us due to COVID so we were excited to visit a new one. Parking wasn't great out front but if you go near Essex St, there's plenty behind Witch City Mall. The photo of Silver Moon Comics looked better than it was in person. The photo showed well-stocked shelves and looked vibrant. In reality, it was just okay. There were some neat figurines and collectibles but overall, it was a quick browse. The staff were friendly when we walked past but we weren't noticed when we came in. Overall, not a great comic book store but it did have some Nightmare Before Christmas and horror movie collectibles that I was interested in. read more

PROS: This was a neat place to shop in. They have a lot from Toys to collectibles, to display items. They even have some horror movie statues. They also, buy merchandise and their hours are better than many other stores CONS: Theres another comic book store down the street that has way more merchandise which I would shop at instead of. An Amazing shop. I have been getting things here for about 4+ years. The couple are always super kind and helpful. They always give the true price and when they don't have an item, they recommend a place to get it, or they order it for me. They have such amazing things always. We are local and go about once a month. I do tend to think people forget how stressful tourist season is for them though. I did see some bead review but, in the past, many tourists have been shady and seemed off. There have been instances where tourist is the problem. Please ignore the bad reviews and go for yourself. I hadn't noticed this comic book shop before, but I'm always on the lookout for back issues of Jessica Jones for my wife. The space is decent size for this shop, and it's a little tough competing with something like Harrison's down the street. This is worth checking out though. There is a respectable amount of comic books (compared to Harrison's) and a lot of memorabilia and toys here. I was able to find one back issue that I picked up. There really wasn't anything that stuck out to me, so I didn't purchase anything else. The staff were polite and friendly. The store is clean and brightly lit. If you've ever been to Salem, you know "the mall." You've probably stepped into it and turned around real quickly. I've been there - I get it. But, my girlfriend and I saw Silver Moon's sign outside of the mall today and decided to venture into the mall in search of this promised land. First of all, the place is huge. As a native Bostonian, I'm used to my two-level Newbury Comics and small comic book shops (as you've probably guessed rental property in Boston is impossible unless you're a major retailer). This shop was an impressive size - it was well beyond what I expected and it was filled with single issue comics (I mean, FILLED), Funko POP! figures (for the lowest regular price I've ever seen, and I hunt these things down on a regular basis), action figures, a Marvel chess set and tons of blind boxes. They even have blind box trades if you don't like what you get! Even my beloved Newbury Comics doesn't always offer that. MOST IMPORTANTLY, the owners were absolutely wonderful. They were incredibly knowledgeable and happy to chat with us, no pressure, no salesy talk - just good, down-to-earth comics and collectibles banter. They were a couple of the most genuinely friendly store owners I've ever had the luck of meeting. If you frequent comic book stores, you've either been over-pitched, greeted with boredom or flat-out ignored. This is not the case at Silver Moon, and it's so refreshing. Quite frankly, after meeting them, I'm happy to hold off on purchasing my comics from major comic book stores or Amazon.com to support this store. I'll definitely be back every time we take a trip to Salem and I already have some more purchases in mind. Whether you're just curious or looking to bulk up your collection, definitely venture a little further into the mall and swing by - you won't regret it. read more

They had a decent selection of new issues, some back issues, a box of discount trades, and a random smattering of toys and novelties. Awesome selection of Vinyl Pops! So many that I'd never seen before. If there's one you want and you cannot find it anywhere else then I would check this store. Lots of fun anime and other pop culture items. Vast comic book selection. Nice open space too so you never feel like you're cramped trying to browse. The prices were reasonable and there's plenty of parking outside (it's located inside the East India Mall). Visiting Salem for a few days and we dropped by this shop. While they have a nice collection, the people working there did not acknowledge anything or anyone until we asked if they could give us more information about a Michael Myers mask. When asked if they could tell us more about it, the guy responds "well for one it's not for sale." We had no intention on buying it but the with the glare we couldn't tell what the card said. However, the woman working attempted to be very helpful but at every turn he had nothing positive to say and seemed to try to push us out. We planned on buying some things but now we won't be back. read more

This place is the best comic shop in the area! The owners are very warm and welcoming. They have a good variety of old and new comics. They offer a superb subscription service, which I partake in. They are very genuine and go the extra-mile for their customers. They are very very knowledgeable of every aspect in the comic book industry. I'm so glad I found this hidden gem. You can go to other comic shops i.e. Harrison's or Newbury Comics but those places don't really give you the personal attention you get from Silver Moon. Newbury doesn't really care about comics in general anymore and their products are always mishandled, damaged and so on. I really enjoy the experience I get every time I enter Silver Moon! They have a lot of knowledge about the genre and products in the store. I recently moved all of my subscriptions over to this place because the're extremely helpful and really nice to deal with. DO NOT BUY, NO REFUND!! OVERPRICED! Bad juju! Yesterday, I bought a Jim Shore Lilo & Stitch that had 2 price tags of $55. When she rung me up for it, along with a Pop vinyl, the total was $98! I had given her a hundred dollar bill already. Then, surprised, asked how much was it?! She said it was $80 for the Lilo & Stitch. I asked why it said $55? She said it was $80. Being in pain from walking, I headed back to the hotel. I looked online & found it for $53 on Amazon prime. So, I went back today with my son. The owner was sitting there with the same clerk. I told her I wanted to return it. She admitted to both my son & I that the "guy" had switched all the prices all wrong in the case. But, they don't do returns, only exchanges. Wtf kind of shitty business is that when you bring it back in the box, unopened with the receipt?! The owner also said the same as she did. I told them I found it cheaper & where. Nope, nada, tough shit! Disappointed in customer service & handling, especially when it was deceivingly priced! Witches aren't just in Salem. Some come to visit.
