We selected Harry and Sons on the recommendation of a family member who works with them in his business and we were very happy with the results- our sub-2000 square foot house had the roof done in a day along with the installation of a solar attic fan and the results look great and so far there are no leaks. The flashing and drip edges also look great. They also had a master mason available that handled repointing our chimney just prior to the roof being handled. They also did good work cleaning out the gutters and installing new gutter covers to mitigate debris build-up. The long warranties on workmanship and certification to install the shingles form the manufacturer are also a major bonus. We were happy with the estimate and the quality of work. We had to wait several weeks and they only critique was that I wished they checked in a little sooner about the timeline of when work would start after we did the deposit and that it would've been nice to get a call to confirm work on the roof would start a day or so before. read more

My townhouse had a small leak from one of the skylights. this roofer did not fix it in a timely manner. First they came in to measure from the outside, asking me to replace both skylights (even though one was leaking). after I paid the deposit, it took them another two weeks to come in and do another measurement from inside (which they could have done earlier). Between the two visits, this roofer declined to help me with temporary solution and since it was raining daily heavily, we suffered water damage inside townhouse and I had to pay another roofer $600 to put up a tarp to protect from further water damage before they could replace both skylights. Finally they declined to provide warranty for their work. They just gave me a website for the manufacturer of the skylights. Overall the service was disappointing. One of the factors can be that they have lots of customers and not able to provide good service to everyone. read more

Harry & Sons Contracting installed my new roof in 2020. When I needed new siding, I asked them for an estimate. They gave me an estimate promptly. I selected Harry & Sons out of the three estimates I received. They replaced the siding and on discovering some additional work that was needed - they called me with an estimate for the additional work. I accepted the estimate for the additional work. The roof work was good. Customer service was bad. 1) Start date kept changing 2) Scheduled a date without having inventory in stock 3) The warranty should be automatically mailed to customers once the work is completed. 4) Customer service after the work is completed is poor. While roof work was being performed a worker walked on the skylight and broke it. I was at home on that day and saw it. During the years of roof repairs no worker has ever walked on the skylight. I don't understand why Harry & Sons workers did so. A few months later on a windy day the skylight flew open and a squirrel fell through the skylight and ran into the master bedroom. We had to wait 8 hours for animal control to catch it. I called the Harry & Sons to report this issue. I was left a voicemail message stating that no one walked on the skylight and basically stating that I was ill informed and confused. All customers should be treated with human dignity. Workers should obtain all pertinent information before making assumptions and should not tell a customer they are wrong especially without obtaining the facts. The skylight is still broken and I will have to call another company to fix it. When it is time for roof repairs, I will not call Harry & Sons. read more

Harry and Sons removed our old metal roof and replaced it with TPO roof. They also installed a new skylight hatch. I was very pleased with the work they carried out and with their communications with us before, during and after the installation. When the skylight manufacturer refused to honor their warranty related to defective materials, Harry and Sons replaced the unit without charge. They were not the lowest bid, but I am glad we chose them. I would not hesitate to do business with them again! read more

This is my second review of this company. They installed my roof 10 years ago, it's still in fine shape. This review is for repairs they performed due to a neighbors tree falling on my roof in early January. They managed to do the repairs while dodging the adverse weather. Work was done very professionally and material was of high quality. The price was very reasonable and no unnecessary work was added to the price quote. For any future work I will definitely call them again. read more

I do not recommend this company. BRIEF The Good: Price The Bad: Managing their schedule, managing jobs, answering phones, responding to emails, and talking to customers/customer service/manners/valuing their patrons. DETAILED I called them in 2018 for a roof leak and got an estimate. In 2019 I was ready to make the repairs and they needed to come reinspect. The set my new appointment but were No Call-No Show. This was the first bad sign. I called them and gave them another shot. They apologized, recognized they misplaced my paperwork and forgot my appt. Fine. They then came out and provided a new estimate that was consistent with one from last year. Fine. After checking references (which were suspiciously overly good), I hired them because of the price and years in business. But they were not my first choice company. After I put down my deposit that's when things went down hill. They forgot order AGAIN, dodged me for weeks, and then had a bad attitude about the whole thing. I was told the skylight would take up to 3 weeks to arrive. At week 3, I emailed asking if my skylight was indeed ordered. I got no reply. A week later (4 weeks after deposit paid) I email again. No reply. Then I called. A 3rd party answering service takes a message for a call back. I get no call. But I do get an email saying the office manager is waiting on a co-worker to learn of the status on my order and she promises to follow up with me the next day. The next day--of course NO update. I email again, asking why I don't have any follow up. No reply. After more calling attempts, I finally finally finally get a live person on the phone and all I hear is excuses and shirking all responsibility for ignoring me for 2 weeks, not emailing when you say you will--let alone the oversight of not placing my order. The worst part was when the owner called me supposedly to make things better, but actually just added insult to injury. All I can say is he is one mean mean man. Arrogant, nasty, self-righteousness, indignant, hostile and just plain mean. He was horrible. Completely disinterested in learning or listening to the experience his customer has had, its as if he says I don't care about your job clearly. He won't even acknowledge that I may have received any poor service. He just wants to shut me up and get me off the phone. Needless to say I would not patronize this business that repeatedly loses orders and has no respect towards me. read more

With pricing and quality of work I would give this company a 5. I was very pleased once the work was completed. I got a new roof along with the gutter guards and I am very pleased with the work that was performed. The only problem is the lack of communication regarding when the work would be completed. Like the other reviewer there was bad weather and low-temp. around the area and the date they confirmed the work will be completed on no one showed up. I found a card from my initial meeting with one of the guys and called him to find out the status. I just think if someone has confirmed that work will be completed and external factors that aren't controlled by any of us a simple phone call with an update would've been nice. Anyhow, luckily the area had great weather in December and they were back out on the date that they anticipated. And someone did call to confirm that they would be then there. So overall I would recommend them as I am satisfied with their work. read more

Harry and Sons is the real deal...a commercial roofer that also does residential. What that means is that getting your job scheduled is going to be a real bear, but once Harry and Sons is onsite, they work continuously till the job is done. Harry and Sons also busted their kiesters to get a bunch sub-contractors on board for a complex job that also involved insulation and upgrades to my attic HVAC. The combination shingle/membrane system that they recommended was high-quality and affordable. Unlike one other roofer that I solicited a bid from, Harry and Sons did not try to sell me on a "Cadillac" system that was way more than I could afford and way more than I needed. Now I'm no expert on roofing and roof repairs, so anything I say about the quality of the job is probably suspect, but the works look solid, and Harry and Sons gave me a set of high-res digital photos covering every aspect of the work. All in all, I'm very satisfied. read more

Harry & Sons roofing is a business you can trust. That says it all. But, most people want more info, so... Nick is Harry's son. He came to check out a leak in my roof. He found the problem was simply the flashing around my chimney. He took great photos of the problem and didn't try to upsell me, though my roof was over 22 years old. He also found some stink bugs in the roof vent. Fixed everything for a fair price. That was 4 years ago. Guess who I called this week for a garage leak issue? Yep!! Nick came and checked out everything. Roof is now 26 years old and he said though there is some wear, it should be good for another 5 years. I do need some vent nails changed, a new cap on one of my chimneys, and some gutter work, but he still didn't recommend a new roof, though I thought he would. That, my friends, is a man of HONOR, a rare characteristic these days. So, I'll be spending about $1500 vice $15-20K. You can bet your butt I will be using Harry and Sons when I get a new roof, or need any other roofing work done. These guys are AAAAA+++++ !! And, they neither asked for, nor know I am writing this. read more

I have on tape the owner/estimator resorting to derogatory name calling because I simply wrote an email about the tone in which he addressed me as a prospective buyer. I remain extremely disappointed with this business. I used Angies List to find a roofer...this place had decent reviews. They sent a guy out to do an assessment. When I say I needed a roof replacement I mean I NEEDED a roof replacement (30 years old with leaking gaps)...they definitely had my business. The Assessment guy was very personable and friendly and told me he'd send an estimate by the next day via email (I wrote it down for him clearly) - I never heard another word from that company...that was end of June. Since then, my roof has been replaced by Hometech (call them if you need a roof!). Insurance covered it, they represented us with the adjuster, got us covered and installed our roof - looks great, the whole process took 3 weeks...they fixed water damage in the interior. Harry and Sons had my business for the taking, but decided I didn't even warrant their response. I want local business to thrive, but firmly believe that should be earned. The issue is, with how we were treated, I couldn't justify ever saying "call Harry and Sons" and would likely recommend the opposite. Additionally, my whole neighborhood needs roofs - they are all giving out...place is a goldmine. Hometech will surely benefit. read more

We bought a home last summer, and the inspector indicated a few shingles needed replacing and a board at the edge of the roof was rotted - nothing urgent. Since there were so many things to be done, I didn't get around to calling roofers until the spring. After the big storm, roofers were STILL busy months later. Many did not want to be bothered with a small job. Some didn't even return my call. When I called Harry & Sons, an actual person answered the phone. They indicated they were busy, but took my information and told me someone would get back to me. A week later, Gary (greg?) called and the next day he stopped by, looked at the work, and called with an estimate. He also sent a written estimate. The price seemed fair, although my plan to get several estimates to compare didn't work out. I tried to call and give a deposit via credit card over the phone, but they don't operate that way - I had to sign the estimate (contract language on the back) and send in a check. Gary called a few weeks after that and said his son and team would be available to do the work in x days if that was fine...it was. I didn't have to be present at the house for any of this. They left a final bill in the door. The site was clean, and the work was all done. They were a pleasure to work with, were there when they said they would be. Only complaint would be that I had to write a physical check rather than pay by credit card. read more

When we bought our house a couple months ago, we knew we'd be needing to fix the roof. The outside rafter on a dormer had pulled away from the decking and was hanging by a hair. A couple of shingles had slid off the roof into our neighbor's yard. I had a couple of folks look at the roof, and Harry and Sons quoted a reasonable price for removing the old shingles, repairing the dormer, and installing new gutters. They also talked me in to installing a ridge vent--a relatively cheap way to save money on air conditioning. I didn't hear back from them once I sent the contract and deposit in, so I called to see what the status was. A string of thunderstorms we had in June was playing havoc with their scheduling, so Harry himself called me back and gave me a ballpark idea of when they'd start work. Their salesman confirmed the color of shingles and the extras we wanted, and we got a call the Friday before to say that they'd start on Monday morning. They arrived at 8:00 in the morning, ready to go, and it was nonstop from then on. A team of five removed the old shingles (three layers, plus an odd layer of insulation sheeting!?!), replaced a bunch of decking that was weak, fixed the dormer, cut the ridge vent, and installed the shingles all in one day. Well, they were replaced by a second shift of workers, but that's because it took until past 9:00 pm. All the neighbors were impressed by their speed. Now, in the process, some old shingles and tar paper flew into the neighbors' yards on both sides, and a couple of our flowers and bushes got damaged by the falling debris. However, I think that's mostly because the heaps of old shingles were three feet tall all around the house. The workers took care to do a meticulous job cleaning our yard and our neighbors'. The next day, a team came to finish some last details, and another team installed the gutters. It was all done in a blur. As first-timers, we sometimes weren't sure what stage of the process things were in, but it's clear that Harry and Sons will do a good, honest, affordable, and FAST job fixing your roof. They aren't much for hand-holding, but in retrospect, we never really needed that. read more

It was a busy time due to all the rain we had this past fall, but they came when they said they would and repaired the roof. My husband and I are fans of Harry and Sons. Found their number in the home guide the county sends every year and gave them a call to replace the roof on our sunroom. They quoted a good price for roofing and new gutters and had the work done quickly. A few years later we replaced the roof on the rest of the house and again called Harry and Sons. This larger job took about a month to get scheduled and we had some leakage into the house so I was a bit on pins and needles until the work was done but they did a great job in less than a day. Would definitely have them work on our house again and would recommend. Only complaint is that one of the workers creased one of the gutters they had installed the year before but one call to the office resulted in someone coming out and replacing it within a day. I wouldn't have cared but it was the 20-foot gutter right on the front of the house and it was a big dent. They fixed it all up though, no questions or hassles. read more
