Butterbeer in a commemorative glass you can keep.

Fun nostalgia for those of us who grew up on Harry Potter. Mostly of course a store to sell you plenty of merch with a couple of interactive experiences. We had a glass of butterbeer and if you don't like super sweet things I would not recommend getting it.

The Harry Potter Shop Chicago has a hidden gem inside--its in-store café, and it's surprisingly spacious. There's a large, comfortable area to sit down, enjoy coffee, desserts, and of course, Butterbeer, which is a must here. What stood out was the thoughtful setup. They sell souvenir cups, and after you're done, there's an auto-washing cup station so you can clean and keep them--very practical and well-designed. Service was excellent as well--staff were friendly, informative, and clearly knew the menu and products. There's a solid selection of drinks and desserts, making it a great break while browsing all the Harry Potter merchandise. Coffees were good, nicely balanced and not overly heavy. The only downside for me was the cupcake--it leaned a bit too sweet. Overall, a fun and well-executed café experience. If you're already shopping here, it's definitely worth stopping for a drink and a quick treat.

If you are a potter head then you must visit this wonderful Harry Potter experience. Large retail shop with plenty to take photos and interact with and large merchandise section to satisfy any potter fan. Cool butter beer counter with soft serve Butterbeer ice cream and bottled Butterbeer plus plenty of deserts including Harry's birthday cake! A must visit when in Chicago.

The Harry Potter Chicago store is a unique and nice stop in Magnificent Mile for both potterheads and muggles alike. Easy to find right on Michigan Ave, Potter Shop features a life size pearonus statue, spin-able Every Flavor Bean wheel, merch from every house, wide wand selection, and a cafe with lots of seating. The cafe sells Harry Potter themed food and drink including butter beer on tap, cakes, cookies, soft serve, and other desserts. Lots of seating, much more than the New York store although NY had a larger store an more attractions.

While in the area the day prior to my visit, I passed this store. On my visit day, around 12:55pm on a Wednesday, it was very busy. This store was part of the Go City pass where my sons and I each got a free butter beer. One son and I got it cold and the other son got it frozen. I've had butter beer before so I knew what to expect. I enjoyed it. The cream that was on top was the best and truly tasted like butterscotch. I wish I would've mixed it all together with the liquid portion. Another perk of this is that you get to keep the cup. There is a station for you to clean it out once you drink it. While I'm not a Harry potter fanatic, I've seen the movies. The store itself would be great for a Harry Potter lover! There were so many items. We explored the store first and there is truly something for everyone. Some things were priced reasonably and others quite expensive.

So much fun! If you're a fan of the wizarding world, this shop is a MUST! When entering, there's a cafe area for you to order some ButterBeer! There are various sections in the store featuring different themes. My favorite is definitely the wand section, as I'm absolutely fascinated with them. If you're feeling adventurous, there's also a section for Bertie Bott's every flavor beans! The merch selection here is truly a Harry Potter fan's dream come true! Come check it out!

If you grew up waiting for what was next in the Wizarding World, then a stop at the Harry Potter Shop is necessary! Filled to the brim with memorabilia with connection to the books and movies of Harry Potter, it's a fun spot to walk around even if you have no intention of buying anything! After strolling through the many trinkets and apparel, you can sip on the famous Butterbeer, a favorite of the characters of the series! Available in soda or slush form, it's a delicious treat! The staff are friendly and helpful throughout the store!

I have to preface this by saying I kind of hate myself for even stepping foot in this store. Though I was once a huge HP fan, the creator/owner of the IP is a total garbage person. In fact, an insult to sanitation workers everywhere. But when the sky opened up whilst wandering downtown, we needed to get out of the downpour and wandered to keep the kids dry. I will credit the designers because there are a few elements of the store really brings some of the Harry Potter (movie) universe to life, particularly the Goblet of Fire and the golden egg/mermaid from the prefect's bathroom. Lots of kitschy stuff, ridiculously expensive Butterbeer ($18 for a four pack, or $7 individual bottles--holy cow). There's also an adjacent snack bar that has a bunch of drinks and other concessions.

It was a pretty cool experience. There are some QR codes around the place to do a survey (it's so long...) and you get a free something from them. We got a pin, but idk if it's always the same thing. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about where things would be. We were looking for some very specific items and they had to redirect us a few time to the website, which was unfortunate, but it made sense that they can't have everything. The biggest "issue" was getting anything in youth size. Those are all online if you want them. I think I was a bit surprised about the prices and they weren't as bad as I had expected. There were a few things that you saw the price and laugh at, but most of the clothing items seemed pretty reasonable.

    Michelle M.

Coming in here felt like I was walking into a HP wonderland, which is very much is. Almost any merch you could want, but not much for small kids or Gryffindor. I'm guessing the lack of Gryffindor is just because it's sold so much more, but as a Ravenclaw, I was happy to see so much fun merch. The wand section was probably my favorite, they have just about any wand you could want--and Lucius Malfoy's cane wand. The special effects are cool, decor was like walking into Hogwarts, and they have a survey you can take that will earn you a free exclusive Chicago themed prize. I wish we would've gone to the cafe to try a pasty or butter beer, so we'll definitely put those on the list for next time! The checkout line was surprisingly fast, I figured it'd take a lot longer to get through but we didn't have to wait too long.

Not as big as the NYC store but it was still cute. The small one story shop gets pretty crowded since it's right on Michigan Ave.

    Francine G.

I had no idea there was a location in Chicago! Not sure how it compares to the one in NY but it was so beautiful! Some of the employees weren't the friendliest, not sure if it was because it was close to the end of the day and they also don't allow you to purchase a butterbeer and walk around the store (no signs anywhere that say this). Wish they had an option for a disposable cup so you could get the butterbeer cheaper but for $14, the souvenir cup is adorable.

There are also lots of books for adults, and cards, and jewelry, and t-shirts, and so many things. I bought several books for my little one, and there are some toys I think she'd like that I may pick up another time and some really cute stuffed animals as well. I'm not sure if the woman that greeted us was a docent or a paid staff member but she was so welcoming. She's the one who pointed us to the second floor that we didn't know existed and let us know they had kid stuff. Then she welcomed us back when we got downstairs, and told us about the MCA kids days and said she couldn't wait to see us again.

The mission statement at Love From USA is to provide an extraordinary travel convenience and gift shopping experience, capturing lasting memories reflective of the local culture and lifestyle of the communities they serve. They support locally made products from small businesses across their markets. Love from USA was founded in 1979 as a paperweight kiosk and has grown tremendously since then. Now, they have 24 stores across the country. Chicago was the second place that they had stores. They also have a commitment to give back and take part in the Art For Good Project, Red Heart Project, and Local Artisan Project. As everyone leaving the store holding bags of souvenirs, it was obvious that other customers were on the same mission as us and were successful. I certainly recommend this store to others looking for the same.

I say only $40, bc I plan on neatly tearing out several of the pages & framing them. It's such a beautiful book. I bought a Chicago recycled tote bag (that can be folded, & apparently used to be a water bottle!), a Cloud Bar coffee mug (bc it holds way more than 8 ounces & is such a beautiful ombré blue), & a Chicago photography book (the last one available for the night). The clothing items are priced fairly high, the hoodies are about $60-80. If you really want some high quality and low cost Chicago apparel, hit up the 24-hr Walgreens that's only a few blocks down the street. They have shirts, mugs, etc for like $10-20. HOWEVER! I gave this place 5 stars bc of the employee who helped me w the book. It wasn't priced (w a tag/sticker) but it was also the very last one on the shelf - it was found on display, so it wasn't even on the shelf. She noticed it wasn't a new edition so she actually called Cloud Bar (at the top floor) to see if they had any extra copies so that I could get a new one. Her taking the time & effort to do this without me even mentioning anything or asking her to do that was exceptionally thoughtful & kind. I presume they sell this same book at the Cloud Bar at the top of the building. She was on the phone for a bit, but they didn't have any new editions for me. I honestly am in LOVE with the book - it's absolutely stunning, the photography is so beautiful and will forever serve as a reminder of why I love Chicago so much & why I want to make this city my home either for medical school or for my life after that. I attached photos of the book. I'm so sorry I didn't get your name (the employee at the front desk), but I really appreciate your hospitality.
