I needed a replacement watch band, so I walked into the tiny corner jewelry store, where I met Harry and a 'Way Back' time machine. Tucked away behind the jewelry displays and jeweler's work table were family portraits and a small museum copy of 'Guernica' one of Picasso's most famous paintings about which I had written a term paper some 50 years ago as a college student in 1970. Time flew between the two of us as we compared families and the number of grandkids, his trip to Spain, etc way past the time it took to install a new watch band. Oh yes! If you are curious, Guernica was a small civilian town bombed as a military target in the Spanish Civil War of 1937. Picasso's painting is regarded by many art critics as the most moving and powerful anti-war painting in history. You can see it on the internet or, if you ever go to Spain, it is exhibited in the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid. To conclude I am a happy customer who got a new leather watchband for my ancient Timex wristwatch and made a friend in the process. read more

There was a man--presumably Harry-- who quickly gave a time estimate and quoted the price for a battery replacement. I decided to go to Mitsuwa while waiting and when I returned, he had still not finished because the watch was being tricky. As a gesture to his going over the estimated time frame, he proceeded to shave off a couple of dollars. Given that the price was reasonable to begin with, it was unnecessary but speaks a lot to his pride in his good work and in his word. I used to go all the way to Koreatown for my battery replacements but will definitely be coming here instead given the comparable prices and the great man behind this store. read more

On Friday, June 13, 2025, I went to Harry's Fine Jewelers to get a quote on fixing a missing pin for my watchband; his assistant quoted me a very reasonable price and was asked to come the following week Tuesday 17th as Harry was unavailable the day I arrived. I returned on Tuesday 17th, and Harry quickly fixed my watch band. Once completed, he charged me a little more than the quote earlier given by his assistant. Called to ask about a custom setting, and the sales rep was very rude and kept repeating that i "had to come in"-- i had called 5 other jewelers before calling harry's fine jeweler and they all didnt have a problem with me providing details of my custom piece & directed me to further the convo via email. All the other jewelers were able to give me an accurate estimate using their knowledge, software, and details of the custom piece given to them. Not at harry's. I wasnt even asked to give details for the custom piece. Needless to say i will not be working with a jeweler that's rude, unprofessional, and pushy to have me come in. BIG red flag! I was very disappointed in this place. My husband purchased my engagement ring somewhere else. We were looking for a place local that we could find my wedding band at. I walked by Harry's as I was running errands in the plaza. They had beautiful bands that were reasonably priced. I told my husband to purchase my band there. My band was a bit loose but still manageable. Fast forward to a couple months later, I decided that I should get my band fitted correctly. Unfortunately, when I went in there, they told me they would have to charge me to fix it even though when it was originally too big when it was purchased. I brought my diamond here to have it set into a necklace. He told me it would be 2 weeks... it took over a month. He was also supposed to repair 2 necklaces within 1 week...all not finished in time. He was totally unapologetic about the delay and told me it was because he was on vacation. Had he felt bad about the delay, I would be less bothered.
