I've made multiple attempts to call, left messages, spoken to people who tell me they will call back and never do, left on hold, & hung up on. Please don't go to this college. Find a college where staff and the teachers will be great. You got a bunch of ignorant teachers and extremely rude teachers that don't manage to help. Back in 2018 they have so much attitude and always where rude. In 2022 same thing, staff is rude and teachers don't help. Now 2023 starting a semester and teachers don't manage to know how to explain the assignments they tend to give out. This college is a joke fr. Now 2024 came back to comment back since they keep taking my comment down. But their counselors, administrations office all are a bunch of useless people sitting in offices waiting to get payed. read more

I really enjoy my time in Hartnell main campus and other campuses. I appreciate the teachers and workers except for the security staff. I say this because I do not sense much protection from the kind of services they give. I have noticed that when something occurs, they do not arrive to the scene immediately, they do not look seem to have precaution and or the need to protect the hartnell student community. Some events that have occured in any campuses, I see that they take their time to approach the scene. I see them walk (NOT RUN). The person causing the scene can harm someone physically and or have a weapon. I can say if something happens in any campuses, I do not feel safe enough to stay in campus under lockdown. Yes somethings that happen in our campuses may not lead to danger, but I have the need to protect myself and others immediately. I expect more from the security staff and program that notify students about any danger in all campuses. read more

This campus is one of the finest I have seen for a junior college. A new nursing building is being built. The campus has many fine buildings. There is a beautiful track. And the Olumpic sized swimming pool is second to none. Many great programs taught by the best faculty ever. I have taken many classes here just for fun and have learned a lot. From jewelry making o photography to sociology. You will find something here for everyone. A great boost to this great city. read more

It's all we can afford.. with gas prices no one's going to go all the way to MPC and Heald College too much money.. Reason I see people come here are either 1. Join the army or 2. Get your AA Generals and try to figure out wtf to do with your life, majority always go into law enforcement either to try to help or to learn the law and not get caught come on if you've taken an ADJ you've seen the people in there.. Once again they are cutting more classes.... less HD Tv's and put the money to good use... FINANCIAL AID OFFICE - fuck.. horrible staff they never helped me out for anything I did everything on my own and had to ask them all the questions if i didn't I would still be filling out papers today.. every time i turn in papers I ask "is this all?" they say "yes, come back in one month" I learned my lesson from last semester.. came back a week later they say a month but always check once a week because they don't care about your progress.. still had more papers to fill out ALWAYS go in and ask questions they get mad but i don't care I'm trying to set my future I will be a dick and make you do your job and that's to help me out.. COUNSELORS - ask people who they've seen first time i came in was 17 yrs old made an appointment since i did not know anything about college thought they were suppose to help me out asked me what i wanted to do said i wasn't sure just my AA generals.. the counselor got annoyed wrote down 4 classes that i did not know wtf they were and said "take this classes and come out when you figure everything out" thanks for the help.. i asked around found a counselor and she helped me out a lot! so make sure you make an appointment with the right one TEACHERS - again ask around to find the best ones for Math get Mr. Rand best math teacher i waited 3 yrs just to get his math class.. for Business get Mr. Calvert I learned a lot from him, English 1A get Ms. Mendoza now she is not easy but not hard either just do the work you learned a lot from her as well like i said ask around to find the best teachers because i choose a whatever teacher for history i do not know how she got the job... we have not discussed anything in class she just graded our papers from week 1 that's four month ago.. does not explain the homework well so i always have to ask specifics about it since i don't want to fail.. CLASS MATES - if you're the type that let others affect you then you will not pass, every semester more than half the class drop a lot of fresh fish from high school so they don't care about their work i feel fucken old turning around telling them to be quite or leave the class.. grow the fuck up you're in college.. Overall the graduation rate here is like 17%... reason why people come to fuck around.. it's doable BUT! you have to put in the work and do everything yourself i go to class take notes do my homework and that's it i don't affiliate with the fresh fish around me or the screw up I'm serious about my education so at the end of the day it is up to YOU! to ask questions and make sure your up to date with everything read more

I work with some of the students that are focusing on science, technology, engineering and math studies. They are conscientious, hardworking and respectful. They come prepared to work and learn in a professional setting. We are lucky in the Monterey/Salinas area to have access to good higher ed schools that are more affordable options. In these economics times, it makes sense for students to explore their general studies at a community college, with the significantly lower costs. Then, with some maturity and study skills under their belt, move onto the next step at a university that matches what they're looking to do. 5 stars for Hartnell. read more

A lot of new renovations but over all great community college campus. Great Instructors in Math and Administration of Justice Courses.

The review is only for their proctoring service which is excellent. Because my son's doing distance learning at a UK university and there is no British Council in San Francisco to administer exams he had to find a substitute testing center. Otherwise, it would be a trip to Los Angeles where the nearest participating British Council is located. My son had a terrible experience with a proctor service (Bay Area Testing Center in Millbrae, CA) near our home city. Their website doesn't tell you how difficult it is to obtain an appointment with them (if your test is on a Monday they have no working hours so one has to make special arrangements-they work on Sundays though which is weird) nor how difficult they make it for the test taker (e.g. They require the exam taker to get written authorization from their university to bring a pen, calculator, even one's eyeglasses into their exam room). So rather than deal with this kind of ridiculous requirements, and although their testing center is so close to our home, my son chose to go all the way to Salinas and do his exams at Hartnell College. And it was worthwhile all around. All I can say is that dealing with Mr. Henderson, the proctor, at Hartnell my son has reported how excellent the experience has been from beginning to end. The college is modern and the exam room is comfortable, most of all the proctor was extremely nice and professional. So if one needs to do a distance learning proctored exam I suggest considering Hartnell College as an option. read more

Bunch of crooks. I get a letter in the mail saying that I'm going to be sent to collections if I don't pay them 10 dollars that I "owe" them. Mind you I haven't been to college for over a year and I always pay my stuff on time. Hence my good credit however these people threaten to send me to collections. I decide to dispute it and I get told that it'll take a couple of weeks so it'd be better to pay it. I payed it but this college will never get another penny from me. Horrible service. read more

They are high default rate school so they no longer participate in the federal school loan program (Subsidized/Unsubsidized).

Good school but their eops office runs slow! They say things will be done by a certain day and it won't get done til like 2 weeks!!
