The last time I was in there I looked around for a while and saw three beautiful tops so I went ahead and tried them on. I was only going to take one of them since I was planning on going to a few other outlet stores in the area and did not want to spend all of my money in one place. They were all so nice that it was hard to pick but I thought about what I had at home for bottoms and accessories to go with the tops and finally I decided on a winner. The store was neatly organized and it was fun to browse what they had in stock. The signage on the clothing displays clearly showed any discounts available on the items. The sales floor and fitting rooms were spotless and I could tell that the store is well taken care of by the employees. The clerk at the cashier station was pleasant to deal with and I was satisfied with the service that I received. I will make it a point to come back to this store the next time I am in Maine doing some outlet shopping.

Though I didn't get them, I tried on loads of clothes while my husband had a long and extremely enjoyable conversation about music with the absolutely wonderful sales clerk. Truth be told, all of the brands I tried on are national and could be gotten anywhere but I did end up with one pair of pants at a great sale price. Veering away from the sale rack I noticed an excellent curated collection of jewelry, shoes, scarves, and clothes.

I had my baby with me in a carrier, and from the moment I walked in, I felt like I was being closely watched. While I was in the dressing room trying on clothes, I was talking softly to my baby to comfort her. The employee stood right outside the dressing room and was giggling at what I was saying, which made it very clear she was listening and hovering nearby. Instead of feeling like a customer, I felt like I was being monitored, as if there was concern I might steal something. And then as I came out of the fitting room and let her know I didn't find anything and thanked her, she went straight into the room, I have no doubt to make sure I didn't steal anything. As a mom just trying to shop with her baby, this felt really discouraging and unwelcoming. I left feeling uncomfortable and out of place. I hope the boutique can work on creating a more inclusive and respectful environment for all customers.

When trying things on she urged us to be careful with the dresses as if saying they wouldn't fit and then allowed absolutely no kind customer service to shine through in our interaction. While we could hear her interactions with other customers as sub par customer service, we were disappointed by how she acted towards us considering we are frequent customers. This was a very unfriendly experience and environment and I hope nobody else has an interaction like that!

One of the biggest frustrations is the layout: instead of being able to stroll from store to store, you constantly have to get in and out of your car and drive from one shopping center to another. It really takes away from the enjoyment of outlet shopping and makes the whole day feel more like running errands than browsing. Another downside is the taxes. Whatever savings you think you're getting from outlet pricing quickly shrink once you see what you're paying in tax. It feels like a big chunk of the "discount" disappears at the register, which defeats the purpose of going to an outlet in the first place. Lastly, the number of vacant stores is hard to ignore. Whole sections look empty, and it gives the area a run-down feel. It also limits your options and makes the trip less worthwhile if the stores you came for simply aren't there anymore. Overall, the Kittery Outlets had potential, but the inconvenient layout, high taxes, and increasing number of vacant storefronts makes the experience far less appealing than it used to be.

We went looking for a dress and wound up buying two dresses, some tops and skirts, and ... well, I'm not sure, but there was something else we took home as well. The selection, even though this is a relatively small store, was excellent, and the store had a welcome variety of sizes. The lady who helped us was patient and resourceful, and she helped make this a delightful shopping experience. Their sale prices offer pretty good discounts on items. BTW, they have a couple of comfy seats for men who may be waiting while wives/girlfriends do the try-on thing. Very useful.

Eventually a sales person explained this system to me and when I asked her why Chico's didn't have traditional sizing she didn't answer. The clothing is mostly loud prints with unflattering loose styles. The fabrics seem to be mostly low quality.
