(Bottom) Kani tempura roll, spicy shrimp roll, (Top) spicy kani roll, spicy tuna roll

I come here sometimes because the prices are reasonable and the food is decent. Most of the time I get something healthy like tofu and vegetable dumplings, but this time I decided to try meat dishes. Starting with the sushi, I liked the kani tempura roll, but all of the spicy rolls could have been better. The sauce wasn't as good as I'm used to from other places. I do have to say that the meat quality was very good, however. The main dish I got, walnut chicken and shrimp, also had very fresh meat and crunchy walnuts, but again I didn't like the sauce. It was some sort of sweet mayo and it just didn't do it for me. This place is only okay. You might enjoy their food, but if you want the best in the area, go to Wild Kanji.

This is a review based on multiple visits over the last few months (during Covid-19 lockdown). I had been to Harvest House a fee times prior to the lockdown, and found it "good" but was never my first choice. Now in this "new normal", I've gone for take out several times and have an entirely new outlook. First off, their online ordering platform is easy to navigate and place an order. You do not need to provide credit card details through the web interface. Enter your phone number, and the automated system calls you with a 4 digit code to verify the order. Second, the food is almost always out on time, or ahead of time. I live about 10 mins away and never wait more than 3 or 4 extra minutes. The menu - it's large. Almost too many choices. Chinese, Japanese, sushi, and some other Asian curry dishes. We have had multiple sushi options (I haven't had it, but family reports it is good quality), as well as "typical" Chinese dishes (egg rolls, lo mein, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, etc). All was at least as good, or better than other spots in town. My own favorites are the Japanese beef udon, and the Japanese coconut curry. The coconut curry is not advertised as "spicy", but it has some solid heat. Peppers, onion, peapods, pineapple chunks, Chinese eggplant, all in a tasty red coconut curry sauce. The portions are generous. I always get at least two servings out of a dish. Now at the top of my list, and the #1 go to for Asian take out.

Got a small couple steak cutlets that had shallots in the center. It was like meat sushi. That teriyaki bowl was well thought, priced, and the teriyaki was a little sweet and thick but not bad. I gave this review 2 stars because the sushi had a long a$$ bone in it and I have never run into this problem. The food in the picture is chewed because I spit it out thinking there was a needle in my roll... bone is pictured bottom right. the other five rolls were okay but I've seriously never had this problem in my 10 years of eating sushi

Pete is still making the sushi. I think this would be the 4th owner in 30 years that Pete has worked with. Service was excellent. The sushi was excellent. We had a great time and our guest its still raving about it a week later! 3 of us ate 7 rolls! Our favorite was the smokehouse but they were all delicious! Kano Salad was also great and having Two Juicy in the cooler was a great call by whoever orders the beer. We love sushi and this is our favorite place to get it, but if you're not a sushi person they have a nice menu with options for seafood, steaks, chicken etc. They also have some nice salads and appetizers as well as a decent wine list. There are always wine specials too. Seriously this is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. I can't recommend it enough. Definitely put it on your list, especially if you like sushi! Sit at the bar, say hi to Pete and watch him create!

AMBIANCE - on the nicer side with the booths being U Shaped and comfortable seating for sure. The color scheme was on the red side. Hence the name I guess LOL. There were quite a few tables with a sushi bar work station straight to the back I also noticed a full bar to the right of where you walk in. Not a plethora of seating but when crowded you could eat at the bar I suspect MENU - definitely fusion with a bit more Japanese options than Chinese. They offer various appetizers and for sushi a lot of individual selections from a full dinner or pick your own pieces or rolls. For lunch they have a nice 3 rolls of your choice for $16 which is a good deal. FOOD - I tried a tuna dumpling that I have to say was unique and excellent. The space is on the cozier side, but perfect for our family trio. We found the service warm, inviting, and attentive. Case in point, our server provided a training chopstick to our 3 year old without being prompted. Throughout the meal, she was consistently diligent in keeping our table clear of any unused dishes. Lastly, I appreciated the warm welcome we received from the staff both as we arrived and departed from the restaurant. This might not seem very impressive to those reading, but this subtle attention to detail is surprisingly often overlooked by many restaurants I've visited recently, and often underappreciated by the guests who dine in them.
