We walked in, only patron. Very young man seated up promptly and took our order. We had a baby shower today so we were not starving. Good thing , 2 egg rolls, greasy, asked for hot mustard ,all accompaniments comes in little packets. I come here sometimes because the prices are reasonable and the food is decent. Most of the time I get something healthy like tofu and vegetable dumplings, but this time I decided to try meat dishes. Starting with the sushi, I liked the kani tempura roll, but all of the spicy rolls could have been better. The sauce wasn't as good as I'm used to from other places. I do have to say that the meat quality was very good, however. The main dish I got, walnut chicken and shrimp, also had very fresh meat and crunchy walnuts, but again I didn't like the sauce. It was some sort of sweet mayo and it just didn't do it for me. This place is only okay. You might enjoy their food, but if you want the best in the area, go to Wild Kanji. read more

This is a review based on multiple visits over the last few months (during Covid-19 lockdown). I had been to Harvest House a fee times prior to the lockdown, and found it "good" but was never my first choice. Now in this "new normal", I've gone for take out several times and have an entirely new outlook. First off, their online ordering platform is easy to navigate and place an order. You do not need to provide credit card details through the web interface. Enter your phone number, and the automated system calls you with a 4 digit code to verify the order. Second, the food is almost always out on time, or ahead of time. I live about 10 mins away and never wait more than 3 or 4 extra minutes. The menu - it's large. Almost too many choices. Chinese, Japanese, sushi, and some other Asian curry dishes. We have had multiple sushi options (I haven't had it, but family reports it is good quality), as well as "typical" Chinese dishes (egg rolls, lo mein, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, etc). All was at least as good, or better than other spots in town. My own favorites are the Japanese beef udon, and the Japanese coconut curry. The coconut curry is not advertised as "spicy", but it has some solid heat. Peppers, onion, peapods, pineapple chunks, Chinese eggplant, all in a tasty red coconut curry sauce. The portions are generous. I always get at least two servings out of a dish. Now at the top of my list, and the #1 go to for Asian take out. read more

Great family run place! Day off at the crappy Trumbull Marriott before our show at the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater. Discovered Harvest House on Yelp and walked over. We were greeted by the amazing Jeffrey, an exceptional thirteen year old young man who waited on us, happily assisted by his mother and sister, dad was behind the bar cutting fish. Got a small couple steak cutlets that had shallots in the center. It was like meat sushi. That teriyaki bowl was well thought, priced, and the teriyaki was a little sweet and thick but not bad. I gave this review 2 stars because the sushi had a long a$$ bone in it and I have never run into this problem. Visited for the all you can eat sushi for $20 a person. The sushi rolls were extremely tiny and the nori was very tough/chewy. We actually stopped eating some of it because it tasted overly fishy and warm. The kitchen items we ordered were very good. We enjoyed the crab ragoons, garden salad, spring rolls, shrimp shumai, and edamame. Their ginger dressing on the salad was excellent. The tables were kind of sticky and we were not allowed to sit in a booth because there were children there trying to nap in multiple of the booths, which we found very odd. Great service at this tiny sushi place - I ordered some sushi for take out and was given a seat and water while I waited! Very impressed. That being said, the sushi was a bit mediocre. Yes, it was edible and I did enjoy it, but there are other sushi places in the area that I like a bit better. Seeing that they just opened, I assume that they will only get better over time. The chicken dishes were good quality (tender and juicy). The sushi was also really good. I'd always recommend them for sushi. Service here has always been good in my experience. I did have to wait for my order a couple of minutes, but the wait wasn't too bad. The staff was prompt and answered a couple of questions I had while I was there. When I've been there during lunch it's usually quiet, usually a handful of people dining in. Food comes out relatively quick and service is great. This place has a unique feel to it. It's a Chinese restaurant but has a 1700's/Renaissance vibe to it. The food was mediocre. The service was great. We were the only people in the restaurant at noon though. They seem to do a lot of takeout orders. They deliver within a 5 mile radius. They do have a happy hour as well. I like that they offer brown rice as an option. A lot of Asian places don't, so I'm glad that they're health conscience. They have a pretty large menu with a lot to choose from. Parking is very easy and you don't have to wait long for your food. I don't eat meat, so I'm a stickler on my tofu. The tofu here was pretty decent. It was deep fried and I try to stay away from that because of the fat it adds. Overall, I would go back to this place if I was in the area. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here though. So we actually like their food... the Superman Spider Roll wasn't all that super but the spider roll is fine; other rolls and sashimi are delish. The other day, we promised my little one Sushi and we went it. It was an early Saturday evening and there wasn't a person there. The woman who works there walked in from the back holding a sleeping child she put on the seat at the back and then led us to our seats. It wasn't our usual booth, so my husband asked if we could sit there instead. I was about to tell him that maybe they save that for a larger party... but then.... the woman said "No. My children do homework." I was like "Your... children... homework? But.... we're paying customers." "Yes. My children do homework there." I looked again.... there was a closed text book on the table and no kids around. The chairs were in a bit of disarray. At first I was like "um okay" and started sitting down when my husband said he did not like that... I said I didn't either and we decided to walk out.
