I DO NOT RECOMMEND!! My friend and I came here for happy hour and were really disappointed by the service. From the start, our first round of drinks was delivered to the table next to us, and those guests actually drank from them before the waitress realized the mistake. Despite being told the drinks had already been sipped, she still tried to give them to us, and we had to firmly refuse before new drinks were made. Things didn't improve after that. My second drink, a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, arrived in a wine glass that clearly had someone else's lipstick on it, so I had to send that back as well. We also ordered edamame for the table, which was completely forgotten--we had to re-order it 45 minutes later before it finally arrived. My tofu and sushi were also underwhelming to say the least. What made the experience worse was the lack of apology or urgency from the staff, especially since the restaurant wasn't even busy. Overall, the poor customer service and repeated hygiene and attentiveness issues made this a very frustrating happy hour experience. read more

Came back for the first time in years last weekend with extended family. It was a pretty large group of us so I'm really glad the restaurant was able to accommodate us and put us in a private room. The service was good as usual. I absolutely love shrimp and of course I had to order the Rock Shrimp and Shrimp Pad Thai. They're both very filling. When my Rock Shrimp appetizer came out I was so pleased with how they put it in this big tall metal martini cup. The lunch special here can not be beat for sushi lovers. The 2 or 3 Roll lunch is perfect for almost everyone, and I know this because I've been with so many different people. We bonded over how I'd come from the doctor's office while she served me a delicious mango martini, fresh salad, the most buttery salmon sashimi I've ever had, along with warm sushi rice in appropriate succession. She then disappeared. However, I would have loved to have tea and another martini to go with the main course, but getting both weren't in in my future. I took off a star only because i did find my salmon roll to be slightly mushy which made it fall apart easily, but the taste was still great. My other two rolls were also good! I had a quality time. I have loved Sweet Basil for the better part of 15+ years. I used to drive there from Bridgeport just for lunch. When their prices got high and their portions got really small, I stopped. I recently went with my son. We both wanted Asian cuisine and I know Sweet Basil always delivers. Or, they used to. Good food, horrible service. This place is truly not worth the time of day!The waiter was rude and very much in a rush throughout the duration of our dining experience. We had to flag the waiter down to order our drinks and food which is insane! My fiancé had leftovers which she wanted to wrap and the waiter came over and grabbed a random fork from another plate to transfer her food into the container. We had to stop him because clearly he didn't have an ounce of common sense nor give a damn about cross contamination. Sweet Basil is a pretty small restaurant with its own parking lot so keep an eye out because you just might miss it when driving by! Seating seems pretty tight but once you have your food right in front of you, all that doesn't matter anymore. The food is extremely flavorful and the staff is very friendly! We've been going to Sweet Basil for a while now. It is a great place to eat good Asian food. I love to go during lunch time, the lunch specials are under $10 and they will fill you up for the rest of the day. 9 out of 10 times I will order the shrimp Pad Thai and I add at times a sushi roll to share. One of my favorite happy hour (HH: 3-7pm) spots in the Fairfield area. First time sitting at the bar and it will not be the last. The bartender (possibly the owner as rumor has it) is funny and provides great, cheerful service! Had the go to items: gyoza ($5) and 3 house sushi special ($12). Tried the bartenders alcoholic concoction which was just what I needed. The tempura ice cream was amazing especially after the bartenders recommendation (shot of chocolate liqueur).
