I really wanted to like this place but I've never been so angry at a restaurant before. We ordered the ruggles & an avocado toast with a side of bacon. After waiting 20 minutes for the food, I checked in and they said that the sandwich would be ready soon. After finally getting the food, we got the sandwich, side of bacon but no avocado toast. Waited about 10 minutes trying to get someone's attention but finally got the avocado toast. I've never been so upset at a restaurant and will probably never go back. read more

Wow so hip so modern so cool. They source all their ingredients locally. We were sitting outside and we saw one of their chickens escaped onto the road. The chicken crossed the road! We got a latte from the coffee spot. The barista grounded her own coffee bean and you know they do it right. The avocado toast is flowing with avocado and arugula. Solid bread that stands up and the salt is nice. The rose island and their sandwiches is where it shines. I'd go back to try the other ones. I'd wish I came here a few more times. We have gone to this place a few times and they have been good for their food. However, not so good for their coffee... each time we go and get the coffee it's been a disappointment. The lattes are not made right and the coffee are on the bold-bitter side. Additionally, the customer service is not great... the vibe doesn't feel welcoming or friendly ad to many other local coffee shops we have been to. We were looking for a deli and came across harvest at the end of Thames st. What a privilege to have been able to eat their delicious food. The bread is made here Belinda and it is simply fabulous. You must make the extra walk or drive down to the 5th ward for this. The baguette was so light and crispy and so flavorful and fresh. We had a sandwich with BLT, chicken, fresh mozzarella and guacamole- it is called the fort Adams. Truest great but you will want to take fresh bread home with you. read more

So it worked out perfect for my husband and I to visit Newport the other weekend and stop in to Harvest Market!! WOAH!! EPIC!!! I wish I could give them more than 5 stars. I guess this place used to be pretty good, but almost all the reviews from the last year or two are either ones or twos, and I can see why: unusually disinterested service, a limited mediocre and overpriced menu, and an uninspired design. Two stars may be too generous, and I could elaborate why at some length and detail, but the point is that all in our party had very little if anything good to say, and none of us will be back. The Harvest I believe is set up as a localvore coop with I believe non profit status, so not your typical commercial operation, meaning the 'service motive' ain't always there. Let me explain - today was third day in a row that we go there and my toddler wanted to wash her hands after getting jelly on them. Within seconds of walking into the bathroom, there is a knock on the door asking if there was a cell phone in there. I looked around and confirmed there was. I was then asked if I could pass it back, but if you've been in a public bathroom with a toddler, you know it's chaotic and I simply could not. So I said "we're almost done will be right out." About 20 seconds later there was banging on the door that startled my 3 year old and caught the attention of others in the cafe. Instantly, the same voice from before said "I'm the general manager, I need my phone," in a very demanding manner. We were walking out and as I handed It to him, I said "Sorry, but was busy and you wouldn't have wanted me to hand you the phone until after we were finished washing our hands." What followed that was nothing bud rude, disrespectful and nasty as he walked into the kitchen and started swearing and dropping f bombs in the kitchen loud enough for my 3 year old and other customers to hear. That man has single handedly ruined the experience and can bring the whole business down on his own with that level of customer service. Oh and by the way, as the GM of the business, please ensure you have paper towels and soap in the bathroom as this was the second time there were none! read more

We came here because of all the great reviews, but it did not live up to its rating. The iced coffee was a mid to light roast, which doesn't do well when put over ice and milk is added. We asked to eat in and everything came in wasteful to-go containers. I had to ask for a plate to reconstruct my avo toast. The bread was meh and my over medium eggs popped when cut vs being jammy. The tomatoes were not ripe in the middle of tomato season. Others in my group had similar experiences. It's not bad, just nothing to write home about. Asked to be refunded and placed yet another order within their constraints. (At this point we're very hungry and just wanted food!) Another twenty five minutes goes by and they hand us our food... you guessed it, again the order is wrong. Not once did anyone say sorry or act concerned in the least - they seemed put out by us. We are regular Newport day trippers but decided to stay for the night this time around. We wanted coffees and a easy, take-out breakfast. Found this hidden gem past the end of Thames St. INCREDIBLE! We ordered the Ruggles Bagel Sandwich (bacon, egg, cheese, basil aioli, and avocado on ET bagel), the Cliffwalk Breakfast Sandwich (bacon, arugula, tomato, arugula, and basil aioli ++ egg), a chocolate croissant, and three coffees. First, the food was EXCELLENT. Best everything bagel we've ever had!! It made the sandwich. The eggs were freshly cooked, and the basil aioli is a perfect addition to the typical bagel sandwich. Second, the chocolate croissant... melt in your mouth. The dark roast coffee was freshly brewed and has a strong and smooth taste. The cinnamon honey latte is pretty sweet, but the espresso shines through. All and all, this is our new go-to breakfast place.
