Unfortunately, new staff is seriously lacking in talent. they need to be trained more closely. i walked out to my car and threw the sandwich in the trash. im not going back until things get better. I've been going here for years the family is very nice but the "gentleman" behind the counter is a creep. I've watched him several times check out women's asses as they leave with their food even when they're with their significant others, and it's just pathetic. Have been here twice and am definitely coming here again. Hard to find a good deli near my house, so when my brother showed me this place I was thrilled. The food here is great! Especially the German butter cake. Prices are what you would expect at a long island deli, as is the quality. The staff have been very friendly. I would recommend this business. read more

Poor service, delicious sandwiches though. They could start by greeting everyone who comes into the store. Me and a coworker had a delivery in the area. When I walked in the two young ladies behind the counter kept talking to each other even though I walked up to the counter. My coworker, noticed and walked out after giving me his order. When another guy, who was white walked in, they greeted him enthusiastically. I thought ok, maybe they knew him. Then another two white people walked in and were greeted and warmly welcomed. Nasty and disgusting counter girl working on Friday, July 3, 2020. We specifically asked for no cheese due to an allergy. My husband brought it back and told her to remake it. She took the cheese off and REWRAPPED the SAME sandwich and refused to make a new one or give a refund and ended the conversation with "have a splendid day". My husband gets lunch from here every week, spending a great deal of money which they will no longer receive from us. I worked at Handy Pantry for 10 years and this crap would NEVER fly. I never understood why he went to this deli, even after they lost the ticket for a 3 foot hero for my father's wake, that they denied we even placed (we had the receipt). They threw together a sloppy tray of sandwiches on rolls. For a business that claims many years of experience, you would think they'd be competent and friendly. There's no option for 0 stars, unfortunately. ***Edit: the owner's husband, Bruce, decided to take it upon himself to let me know he eats there everyday (duh) and "your (he wrote that) full of sh*t lady". I don't leave reviews often but I just had the worst lunch of my lifetime. I had a chicken cutlet on a hero. The chicken was so dry and tuff my jaw is going to need a week to recover. Had a pretty unpleasant experience here today. The employees seemed to be annoyed and unhappy to be there. The woman with the shorter brown hair seemed like she would rather help anyone else than me. When I placed my order, she told me they were out of rolls. I don't really care about that, but the nastiness in her tone and her rude demeanor just made me lose all willingness to spend money there. This is hands down the best Deli in Eastern Long Island. Everything is fresh! Everything! I did two catering orders so far this summer and I couldn't ask for better food or service. Everything was ready when I arrived to pick it up. The hot food was hot - the salads were homemade fresh. A great variety of favorites as well as specialties. I couldn't wait till the next day to eat the leftovers. Best Deli food I have had in a long time. The prices were very reasonable. I was pleasantly surprised at the total cost compared to some other options I priced around. Best deal in town literally. UPDATE: Still love coming here for my sons work lunches and have to add that their Seafood bisque soup (available Fridays in the winter) is absolutely delicious! And their egg sandwiches are still hands down awesome. Crunchy bacon and plenty of it. Can't find another deli that makes them as good as this place! Love coming here when my son needs lunch on his way to work. You can call ahead with an order. The egg sandwiches are always awesome. The cold cut sandwiches never disappoint and they have a few extras worth stopping for - like the homemade half iced tea/half lemonade and the breakfast bowl. They always have fresh homemade ready to eat food , workers are sociable and friendly and on top of that the prices are very reasonable (: love the owners of this deli, great people ! I stopped hear just passing through the town. Had a very good bagel with cream cheese and my brother ordered a hot chicken cutlet sandwich, which he said was great. I also ordered a side of bacon and the portion was generous and was cooked perfectly. I wish I knew what brand of bacon they use because it really hit the spot. Food is decent and the rolls are fresh which is why I gave them two stars. My husband and I used to have breakfast here every weekend, but over the past few months the quality of service just went down hill. Every order we made came out wrong in one way or another. They started overcooking the bacon to the point where it has the consistency of jerkey. And the last time we went, I ordered eggs over easy, got home to find they were scrambled, husband drove back, they remade them, when I opened the box, the yolks were splattered all over the plate, husband brought them back again and they told him "that's how over easy eggs come. What we want is over-medium because it is impossible to keep over easy yolks in tact." They made the eggs again and this time overcooked the hell out of them and with a condescending attitude, asked my husband if these were good enough for him. We gave up at this point and just went home and I cooked my own eggs (perfect over easy with the yolks intact). We generally try to support local businesses, but this one will not be seeing our patronage again. read more

I recently ordered a catered funeral luncheon at the last minute-two days. Bruce and Diane took care of everything! I was having a hard time deciding what I wanted and Diane asked me "how many people", I told her and she said "don't worry, we'll take care of it". She sure did! 1) Salads not fresh...turned over & freshened up. Me & sister threw away last side salads. 2) Owner very condescending & always seems angry. 3) I called in breakfast order. Wife arrives & is sternly told SHE "must have called the competition" yet my phone at home has last # dialed@ Harvest Moon. . So SHE drives 4.5 miles to Wading River Deli who "apologizes to her in case THEY made mistake" & gives wife FREE sandwich. 4) I call breakfast order to HM...on way/late for car app't. I am also sternly told I "must have called the competition". I take out my phone hit redial & HM phone rings! Then the angry owner finds MY order on HIS counter. I now must wait for new order & despite customer being right HE charges me full price. 5) HM uses cheap deli ham NOT Boars Head on egg sandwiches. 6) I was there when owner told worker to microwave an OLD BAGEL. Harvest Moon benefits from passing funerals, Rte25 eastbound weekend travel & truckers. That's it. If you're local & want GREAT service + fresh food we switched & will drive out of the way for Wading River Deli. HM sandwiches OK cause anything Boars head is good. New bagels only up to par with other delis who now use same bakery. I'm NOT looking for FREE. Only if need be basic Boars Head with caution for me. NO salads. Wife? I loved this place. Parking lot is cool. Quick and easy access. All employees are nice except for the tall guy that grunts when i tell him my order. . i would still go there if the lady who is always super friendly. I asked one question about why other employees charge me for an egg sandwich and the medium coffee, since the small is free they usually charge me the difference between the small and the medium. To be honest i didnt really care. I was just curious as to y she charges 7 and everyone else charges 5 something. She got all huffy and puffy and i said woh i could be wrong just forget it ill pay 7. She snarled and said NO FIIINE JUST GIME 525. Then when my egg sandwich was cooked she said here. Go. And the bag was crushed like a knuckle squashed it. When i got to my car open it up the yolk is all over the bag etc dripped all over my cars interior. Wow. I just let it go. But sucks i really liked going there in the mornings.
