I absolutely hate leaving a bad review, and I hoped that maybe this would be a gem that had a rough shake. I honestly don't even know if the owners would care much either way. They were polite enough but abrasive. The deli was "cleanish". Rather than describe it in my opinion, I put up pictures, make your own call. I think the coffee grains on the open counter in the middle of the store where anyone could stick their fingers in a play with was enough for me. Nothing was sticky, floors could use a deep clean but also looked swept and kept at a surface level. It looks like a drab not very busy spot, but I went on a weekend and wonder if it comes to life during the week. My sandwich was made exactly as I ordered it. But the BEC was super greasy and the bacon was soft and chewy. My boys didn't get through half of either breakfast sandwich but I have no complaint over the roast beef! read more

Stopped here for a much needed breakfast sandwich while enroute to Calverton cemetery from Manhattan, and was pleasantly surprised how great it was! Got an Everything bagel scooped with egg whites & bacon was delicious (they were VERY generous with the bacon). It also comes with a coffee, tea, juice, or lemonade. Just a little overpriced for the area (more in line with what I'd expect to pay in the city) but hit the spot and the everyone was super friendly! read more

Solid place they make great egg sandwiches. I have been going here for years and i do not see what the negative reviews have claimed it as being dirty. The workers are always nice to me and whoever else they are serving when I'm there. They are always trying to strike up conversations with people. Literally the most over priced deli I've ever been too I ordered the Cajun chicken wrap and I open it up and it just unravels they didn't even cut it... My first time at this deli today, and also my last time. 3 people behind the counter and not one said hello. Rude and arrogant. The food is decent, although very overpriced. I used to come here a few times a week because I lived just around the corner and I absolutely would have considered myself to be a loyal customer. However, I do NOT like the owner here. I never enjoyed talking to him as I didn't find him to be friendly at all. On multiple occasions, he's been very blunt towards me and often made ridiculous comments about what I was ordering. On top of that, he makes it very obvious that he doesn't like it when customers pay with a card instead of cash. He has absolutely no idea what customer service is or how to treat the people that walk in. I'd imagine most owners are thankful for their customers as they tend to pay their bills! Here's what made me decide to never go back. What I can say is that I really did like his staff, although I have no idea who's working there anymore. One of the new girls took my order and as she was ringing me up, something went wrong and I wasn't charged (even though the machine printed my receipt). Mistakes happen, especially with new employees. I went back a few days later (unaware of the error from before) with the same employee and the owner there, and he made it very clear how upset he was. Not only towards me, but towards his employee as well - right in front of me. Instead of PROFESSIONALLY trying to solve the situation, he was incredibly rude with his accusations towards his employee and myself. I paid for both the previous day and the food I had come in for. I thanked his employee (who I hope has left to find a better job) and never went back again. read more

My son bought me a roast beef on rye sandwich when I first moved to ridge three years ago. The bread was stale and could not be eaten. It was hard, awful. The roast beef was dry and smelled. Since this was a take out order, I could not return it. Whoever made this sandwich knew very well they were giving me stale bread and bad meat. I would not go there if they were the last deli in the world. They should be ashamed of themselves. They do not deserve even the one star I was required to give them. read more

This place is dirty, expensive, has staff that is very slow and does not even know how to make their specials. I work about 2 miles away and have been to this place only twice in 7 years. To boot, there is not very much competition out here for food with hungry people from the Lab so they get away with running a subpar operation while still making money. I'd rather eat at neighboring McDonalds. That is how bad it is. I think if someone opened a decent lunch spot in Ridge they would kill it out here as the lunch scene sucks bad. If I am doing deli food, I usually hit up Steer Seller for a steak sandwich. Be sure to call ahead because you will be in there forever if you order it in person. read more

Great deli! It's my go to breakfast stop whenever I'm visiting my boyfriend's family. I love their breakfast sandwiches - I usually get egg, cheese and bacon on a roll. The bacon is my favorite - thick and juicy and just oh, so good. The roll is always fresh and perfectly toasted while still being soft and chewy. Each time I come, I'm always greeted by the friendly staff. They always make conversation and are quick with your order. Also, super clean! read more

Every time I come in here I get the inexplicable feeling that the deli is going to be robbed at any moment. It just reminds me of a scene right out of a movie; the good ol' town deli... We just moved to Ridge and needed a good deli for our Sunday mornings egg sandwiches, pancakes & other breakfast goodies. We ALL ENJOYED our food, very happy and so close to our new house which was perfect!! Do not go here. I just moved here & tried to support a small business but this place is just terrible. The lady cooking had no hair net on and her hair was all out. They got my order wrong 3 times & were getting annoyed with me because of their mistakes. Meanwhile I only ordered 2 bagels & 2 home fries. We've passed this place so many times, and I actually convinced my husband that we should get breakfast there, since it looks charming from the outside. He said he didn't trust it because no one there wears gloves, and it gave him a skeevy feeling in the past. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but now I'm sorry I didn't listen to his gut feeling from the start. Everything was dusty... they really need to clean the place. Hello, you serve food, you don't want all of your items covered in dirt and dust, because then people wonder what it's like back in the kitchen. It's sort of a mini mart inside of the deli, with a few household cleaning products, which need to be wiped down and dusted, some dry goods etc. The coffee station in the middle of the room was sloppy, with drips of creamer & straw wrappers scattered on the counter. The deli cases had cloudy dirty glass, and the meats/cheeses seem to be haphazardly stuffed in there. The rice pudding looked pretty with a design on top but everything else looked pretty basic. The left wall of the shop has multiple glass-front coolers filled with sodas/juices/beer/dairy like a 7-eleven, but every one of the handles of those that I touched had a sticky residue. They honestly need to clean up and notice that everything is gross in there. After sanitizing my hands from the sticky grimy residue, my order was ready. The woman called out, "Hey you, egg whites, yeah you're up." I was hoping that the food would at least be good, in spite of the dusty appearance. I asked for a piece of crumb cake, and when I opened it later I realized they gave me some flavored jelly-filled iced version of a crumb cake, not the plain one, and it also tasted dried out and not fresh. My husband's egg sandwich was so greasy that it was already soggy when he opened it 5 minutes later. Sorry he couldn't say how it tasted since it was mushy with grease, and inedible. read more

I have eaten at this place a million times and always had great food. Also the service is great and speedy... I only wait maybe max 5 minutes if that. There breakfast is also very good. There salads and deserts are always fresh also tht includes the soups. Everything is home made mostly which takes a lot to do. I would recommend this place over a lot of delis in this general area. I just went to the RIdge Deli and I am never going back. I live less than a mile away and I cant go back I would have to sell my first born to pay for a sandwich, an egg sandwich was $5.15 without tax. I have been coming here for many years, the staff is very friendly. I usually only come for breakfast and get an egg sandwich but I have gotten the occasional hero for lunch. The food is below average for a long island deli. I have eaten at many deli's over the years and this one is not even in my top 50 but its the only deli in or near ridge where I live. The staff is very friendly but not the cleanest looking bunch and the inside of the place is very dirty and dated. There is grease dripping off the walls by the grill the coffee station is filthy and I noticed dust on the merchandise on The shelves. They have a steam table with hot food for lunch but to tell you the truth thers never much of a selection and the food looks cafeteria quality at best. Not the good home cooked comfort food you would expect from a country deli. The other day they had meatloaf with can gravy,mac and cheese,sausage and pepers and frozen bbq rib pattys. I think as a deli on long island they should step it up a bit cook some good home style food and clean the place up, the staff should wear gloves to serve and scrub the place down. Everytime I go there I stair at some kind of grease dripping down the front of the ice tea machine and its been there for months. The owner seems like a nice guy very friendly I hope he relizes how the dirty appearence makes him look. I really hope they improve it would be nice to have a local place to go and get some really good food. I feel like if they tryed a bit harder more people would start coming back many of my friends and neibors In ridge dont go there anymore and its a shame they kind of let the place go. Ordered a hot hero. It was more cold than hot when I took my first bite. Hero wasn't made well. Girl friend ordered a wrap, which was worse than the hero very stingy and had no dressing in it and the chicken was chewy. Very over priced, soft pickles. How is this place still in business? read more

Friendly staff but the whole building is just nasty... one day got a drink and had to dig through to see which ones wheren't expired... one drink had brown stuff on the bottom, a lot of there chips where ready to expire as well and a lot of dead flies it was the last time I went in that deli very nasty. read more
