I've come here a bit for lunch. Salads are decent and the menu is very flexible. Service has been hit or miss - one time we sat down and our coworkers (who sat after us) had finished their before ours even arrived. Another time my husband and I came for dinner and the beer was flat. We heard the burgers were particularly good. While they are quite large, I'd still rather have one from In 'N Out. read more

Went to breakfast here last Saturday 1/8/2021. I do not get out much since I am full time caregiver for my 91 year old Mom. First off we asked if the server would be wearing a mask since no one there was. We were told everyone working there was vaccinated. We were seated far away from everyone else. The server approached our table with a mask on. We were very happy and told her thank you. Secondly the food was awesome and the service was just as good. We will be back not only for the food but the appreciation of putting the customer first. I wish I could remember the man's name who sat us and told the server about our mask request/concern and the server's name. They were both lovely. Thank you. read more

We ordered through door dash after confirming the prices matched the menu. Ordered the crab sandwich, the tri tip sandwich, and chicken strips. The total without the door dash fees was over $40, so I was expecting large sandwiches and tasty to boot. The crab smelled like fish..... wasn't crab, avocado was crunchy it was so fresh off the tree. Two chicken strips..... not worth $7 The $13 Tri tip sandwich is a joke! Smaller than my hand and can be eaten in 4 bites. I would never eat their food again. read more

I absolutely love Harvest Moon. Have been coming here for 13 years. My favorite is the Crab Toss! You get lots and lots of crab! The dressing is so good. Everything is so fresh. I also love the sweet potato fries. The restaurant is small and cozy but you get over that once you start eating. The owners are super friendly and the staff is great. We have since moved from Modesto to Fresno and we find ourselves driving up just for dinner. read more

I have been meaning to try this place for years and I'm glad I finally did I love breakfast and now I finally know of a more classier feeling spot to eat breakfast with food that is very good. I got the chorizo and egg tacos, I was hesitant because I'm picking with my chorizo but they prepared it the way I would the dish was really tasty and they had a good coffee roast something I'm also picky about not every restrurant has good coffee nor do some people know how to make it right. The staff was very friendly and welcoming not sure the name but the pregant gal who works Friday mornings she was very attentive productive and sweet. Props to her, loved the environment very well decorated. Skimmed the menu and I loved how confined it was with selective options. Definitely will be back! read more

If this was only about the food I would definitely give 4 stars! My favorite is the Neil's toss, so freakin good!! And sweet potato fries with that amazing honey mustard sauce! Oh oh and the corn chowder. All a must. As much as I love the food I can't tell you how little respect I have for these owners. The blatant disrespect to their customers and lack of support of their servers is insane! The food is 4 stars but it's difficult to support a small business with that has some of the rudest people behind the counter. I think they would do the restaurant a favor by being more behind the scenes. read more

Harvest Moon is becoming one of my favorite local restaurants! Just had this today with two of my buddies. If you're there between 10-130 you have to order the mimosas and a carafe is only $6. Very delicious mimosas and the hot crab & spinach dip as an appetizer is the best! Ordered the crab deluxe full sandwich with garlic fries. Very pleased with the amount of crab it had and the crunchiness of the bread it was on. One of the best crab sandwiches I've had and also tried a half sandwich of the roasted tri-tip sandwich and wow it was amazing! I really recommend anyone to go visit Harvest Moon! read more

Came here with my mom and sister about a week ago and they were so friendly and attentive! Everyone seemed happy to work there! It's hard to find good service these days but they were amazing and the food is delicious too! I can't remember if it was hibiscus or raspberry tea but whatever it is was so good and delicious. We have been patrons/fans of Harvest Moon for over 20 years, even with a change in ownership. Supporting local restaurants is something I value. To say I was highly disappointed in my most recent visit for Sunday breakfast was an understatement. From the moment we entered, until we left, we were treated very unprofessionally. The owner has poor communication and had trouble just getting us to a table. We did have a fabulous waitress and the food was good. Literally after we finished our last bite of food though, we were told we would need to vacate our table (by the owner) as they had a reservation. Huh??? It wasn't as if we were talking, lounging or just sitting there, we literally had just finished eating. We still had half glasses of mimosas! (We were told we could finish those at the bar!). I have never been so rushed through a meal anywhere! Not sure what is going on here but it certainly is not the place it once was. read more

My husband and I usually split the crab sandwich, with the bacon on the side, Neil's toss salad, with the bacon and chicken on the side, and sweet potato fries. This meal is perfect for our pallettes. My husband gets to eat the meat portion, and I get to enjoy the seafood and vegetables. There's so many tasty items on the menu. I've never had a bad meal here. The food is fresh and delicious, even the dressings are handmade. This restaurant serves beer and wine, and there is a good range to choose from, for various tastes. It is busy at lunch time and at dinner time. It's a good idea to call for a reservation during busy times. You can usually find parking across the street, or on one of the side streets. Don't park in the lot next to the restaurant before 5 p. m., It's a private lot and you will get towed. read more

This was my first time here at Harvest Moon. I had the crab omelet and it was delicious. My lady and I shared it and it got us both completely satisfied. It was delicious! We had Ashley as our server. She was kind, sweet, and attentive to all of our needs. I don't say this too often about servers as well. The atmosphere is small and cozy. I finally got around to trying this place... And my disappointment was immesureable. We went in on a weekend and asked for a seat and it took about 15 mins to get seated. We were kind of excited to see it so busy, the food must be good. The waiter was nice but she had so many tables to attend that she barely ever came by. The food really was just okay, nothing special and nothing that stood out other than perhaps the portions being bigger than the average by a bit. There is cheaper or same price restaurants that sell better food within a few miles, so I am unsure what the hype is all about.... To state some specifics the pancakes taste like old bread for some reason and the sausage must be boiled here. They put the boiled sausage in the same plate with your eggs and you get tap water tasting eggs and sausage. Maybe I ordered the food their worst at making but I definitely won't be back a second time to find out. read more

We were seated and served right away. Not so busy today probably due to the fair. The sweet potato fries were really crisp on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. The garlic fries were very tasty. Both the blue moon and bison burgers were cooked nice and juicy. The price is a little high if you just think about paying for a couple of burgers, but the quality of the meat, sides and portion sizes balance out. We ate half of our food and took the rest home, so it's like getting two meals for one. We will definitely be back. I saw a yelp picture of the French toast and can't wait to try it at breakfast and the bison bowl with an egg on top. read more

I really like what the new owner has done with the physical appearance of the restaurant inside. Clean and new looking. I love coming here, but the one thing I wish she would do is change the menu. It's old and unadventerous. I want to support this restaurant, but I can get angel hair pasta at the Olive Garden and burgers at any restaurant. There are a few different items. Just nothing that sounds that great. read more

We ate here the other day it has always been a family favorite, the food was good but my mom and I were not impressed with the service it took 25 minutes for us to be asked what we wanted to drink. I am absolutely floored this place has any positive reviews-especially for the food. My bf and I went for a bite and it was heinous. I didn't know food could taste so flavorless. They also were out of my first choice which perplexes me. When a menu isn't extensive you sort of expect it all to be available. My order came our wrong. Not wrong like I was being a picky a-hole and they forgot to keep my condiments from touching wrong like-they didn't bring me what I ordered and when I told the waiter he seemed bothered. As far as I'm concerned there are so many other places with better tasting food and staff that take pride in their jobs. read more

I was looking for something delicious for brunch. My craving had been for Eggs Benedict. I was vexed that the downtown restaurants that I searched, didn't have what I was looking for. But, my friend and I remembered Harvest Moon had brunch. I'm so glad we went- even though my initial craving wasn't completely fulfilled, the Chile Verde Tostada was a fabulous choice! My husband and I enjoy this little local place. Not only are the dishes delicious, but all the ingredients are so fresh that you can taste it. I would generally drive by a small place like this and not give it a second look, but I am so very glad that word of mouth brought us here. Its wonderful, casual, down to earth dining. Favorite dishes: sweet potatoe fries & modified calamari Also, I have gastroparesis & the staff here are always willing to go out of their way to tweak their recipes for my meal so I can enjoy certain dishes that would normally consist of ingredients that I can't have. Its not very often that I run across a restaurant that is so understanding and pleasant about my diet limitations. 5 stars for service :) read more

As a previous "guest" stated.... Chair Nazis!! I was also profiled for being single at this sad entity, TWICE the same night! I also watched her ask a gentleman while he was amidst his main course (!!!) to move seats. I mean, really, are those people so hurting for money they can jeopardize further business?! The measly two stars are for the recipes and the mostly decent cooking methods. If I were assigned to judge those sad, angry, desperate owners a sentence it would be three months of awareness training at some ashram or facility. Why not cut your losses and stick to making food and delivering it and catering and a walk-up window so the public masses don't have to be so degraded for merely being hungry. You'll benefit as well with less overhead and few(er) haters of your selfish behavior and moodiness. There are SO MANY terrible reviews of this place and 80% is due to the horrid people. There's your message. Suffice to say, I won't return and suggest others do not for their own good. read more

I had dinner here before walking over to the movie theater. It wasn't busy when we arrived and we were seated immediately. Our server was very patient, even though we took a while to decide what we wanted for dinner. I had the bison burger with garlic fries. The burger patty was cooked just right, with a little pink at the center. The bacon which topped the burger was fried up crispy, just how I like it. My only gripe was the burger bun. It was much thinner than a traditional bun, and somewhat soggy because it had absorbed some of the juices from the meat. The garlic fries are to die for. Normally I am served french fries with garlic salt sprinkled on it or fries with a scant amount of garlic. There were piles of garlic on my fries, and my breath reflected that for hours. I just wish they were a touch crispier. read more

I recently visited Harvest Moon for the first time, and I was pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem! My husband and I were invited to lunch by our cousins who were visiting from out of town. They had done some research and discovered this place, and I'm so glad they did. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the staff, which set the tone for a wonderful dining experience. The presentation of the food was impressive, and the taste was even better. The portion sizes were generous--I couldn't finish my pasta, so I happily took the rest to go. The drinks were also delightful, perfectly complementing our meal. The atmosphere at Harvest Moon was fantastic, creating a cozy and inviting environment. Can I just say this place is so freaking cute! Never been for dinner I usually do Sunday brunch. the girls who work there are great! Super friendly and it just looks like they're having such a fun time working. I came in for lunch it was a little busy so I sat at the bar but everything was just as good. My orders are anything and everything on that menu with crab! Crab toss crab cakes crab sandwich. A server even told me they even do a crab stuffed filet for dinner!! Need to try dinner ASAP!! Came here for a Christmas lunch with friends and I left 100% satisfied. I just moved to Modesto last year from LA area and this food reminds me of a real fancy place I would go to. I ordered a burger not sure what it was called but my lord it was huge and delicious. My friend ordered the Mo Hum which was a mistake that thing was ginormous !! Like some of the people mentioned in other reviews, the food alone is good but the owner makes it difficult to enjoy if you have kids. The uncomfortable experience is based on how the owners made us feel and treated us as we visited the place many times trying to see if it was just that day that he was just not feeling good, but it was not. At the end, the food is good, it is just not a confortable environment for families with small children. read more

First time trying this place. Can't say I wasn't pleased (: I had the grilled chicken sandwich on ciabatta bread with a spinach basil cream cheese spread it was amazing! It also had diced jalapeños personally I'm not a fan of ANYTHING spicy but this was a nice kick not over powering at all very pleased also the fruit was fresh and sweet! Our family loves this place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For breakfast try Neil's omelet with crab. My favorite dinner is the filet stuffed with crab. I have always had a great meal here and can't wait to come back. The Smallwoods always make you feel like you're family giving us hugs whenever we walk through the door. When you ask for a burger medium well and get it medium rare, they should be able to fix it. I got back an IDENTICAL looking patty with it cooked medium rare. It's not rocket science. Several of their windows are busted out. The food is overpriced and mediocre. And they need to turn down the music. It must be difficult for the servers to hear over the sound of the music. I believe only one or two tables were occupied. It was quiet and very peaceful. The server came quickly to take our drink order. We ordered two Ranch Waters, which came out quickly also. They were quite strong to say the least and very affordable! For our entree, we split the Pan Seared Pistachio Salmon. There is a $5 fee to split the plate which is slightly annoying but understandable. The food was absolutely incredible. The salmon had a lovely crust and was super soft. The couscous and carrots were very flavorful. They were perfectly seasoned and garlicky. Despite being split, the portion was perfect. The salmon filet was quite large and filling. When we made the reservation online, we noted that we were celebrating a birthday. Towards the conclusion of our meal, we were pleasantly surprised with three dessert options, of which my friend selected some sort of chocolate pie or cake. It was also incredible. The crust was crunchy and the chocolate was decadent. It did not feel heavy to eat at all. What really made our night, however, was the card they brought for the birthday girl. They surprised her with a card signed by all the employees which I thought was a super sweet touch. We had a great experience and will definitely be back!
