I've been wanting to try this place for quite a while. We decided to give it a chance today and was not disappointed I must say the service was amazing. The waitress explained items on the menu that we had questions on with no problem. She was very attentive and welcoming. The Food was the best and the Margarita flight was worth every penny and was completely on point! I would absolutely recommend this restaurant and can't wait to go back. Don't let the outside stop you. You will be happy you gave it a chance. It's been a few years since I've visited El Coco Loco and I realize I should have been frequenting this restaurant more often. This gem is tucked into an industrial area, but you'll be happy once you have found its hiding spot. The last time we visited, we were in more of a celebratory mood and feasted on whole fried fish and a molcajete filled with an assortment of meat, seafood, and cactus. This time, we were in a bit of a rush, so we ordered tacos. Started off with guacamole and chips. Guac is very fresh and they mix in a little tomato to brighten things. Tried the Tacos Baja - both the shrimp and the fish version. These come with a heaping amount of filling and two tortillas- you can easily make two normal sized tacos with one taco. Nice crispy batter and well seasoned with an orange crema you can drizzle on top. Also tried the Tacos Gobernador. Sounds like something Arnold Schwarzenegger would order. These are super cheesy and shrimp filled. They're really good but it's a heavy meal. Everything we've had here has been delicious and I love how wide and varied the menu is. Had family come down from the Bay Area and I wanted them to eat sensational Mexican food and of course Coco loco was the place to go to. We had a few margarita flights to kick off our lunch. They were fantastic and the tequila that was used was of fantastic quality not to mention the drinks tasted amazing. This time around we shared the fish chicharrónes and they were amazing. We also tried their baja shrimp fries and they were fantastic, our party of 8 loved them. They didn't skimp out on the shrimp either. Overall everyone was very impressed on how good the food was. We went there because the pictures looked amazing and the reviews were good. It wasn't horrible, but not great. We ordered the crab boil with shrimp, sausage and crab and corn and white rice There was very little, thinly sliced sausage in the bag. We didn't get the corn, instead she gave us potatoes. My son is type 1 diabetic. Potatoes are not good for him to eat. She brought the corn on the side. Which was fine. The rice was not white rice. It was good rice. It had a few veggies in the rice, it was good. It's wasn't what I ordered and that type of rice doesn't go with the meal. I think the flavor of the crab boil was most disappointing. The flavor wasn't very good. I thought it was more salty than flavorful. I haven't tried other things on the menu. So maybe the other food they serve is better. Idk. read more

First time here on a Saturday afternoon, very busy and noticed we had just missed happy hour, there were very good deals. We were seated within 5 minutes. Was invited here by my family and I'm am so glad we went because this place is definitely a MUST TRY! We have over 10 different plates between us all and the flavor on each of these plates were on point! I personally tried the Clasica Shrimp Boil ; being a huge seafood boil lover this was amazing! So rich in flavor. Also tried their burritos and we added a Chili relleno in it and this burrito was delicious. 10/10 recommend to bring the family out. The outside of this spot is deceiving but I'm telling you, DONT skip this! I have been wanting to try this place for a while now. This place had nice music, kind of loud but cool. It was clean inside. The customer service was mid. When I was ready to order I got the lady waitresses attention but she walked past and got the man, it would've been nice for her to at least say something. The man that I served me was cool. I ordered the Campechana. The oyster taste was a but much for my taste and I didn't have any octopus at all, so that was a disappointment for me. None the less I definitely would love to try this place again. I love the concept and I definitely have other things I want to try. This place has a decent happy hour. Decided to check out yelp (obviously) for a good sea food restaurant and too my surprise this place pops up! About 20 mins away from Modesto in an area that doesn't really seem like a restaurant would be near. Since it was our 3 year wedding anniversary we wanted a place to eat and decide to go inside and give it a try. We were not disappointed at all! We order 2 Micheladas locas, 6 empanadas de camaron, A botana de agua chile, camararones a la kora! I am very picky with my agua chile and I loved it, they don't over cook the shrimp and the salsa is spicy just like I like it. The empanadas were so hot and fresh, the orange sauce they served it with was not anything ive ever had but we loved it. The waitress Laura was fantastic, super helpful and willing to share some insight. If your looking to come here for some authentic Nayarit seafood come here, don't be discouraged with the appearance of the outside you will defintly enjoy the food! They make sure to give you very clear heads up when you order this so don't be disappointed when it's not peeled. Get it if you like sucking on shrimp heads and peeling shells. Lots of work though. Came with 9 or so shrimp in a nice seafood-y chili broth, with potato and carrot. Tasty for sure, but in my opinion doesn't seem right to eat with tortillas, even more work on top of it and didn't jive great. This place is amazing the customer service is great. We arrived late and wanted some pescado zarandeado and we were informed they stopped grilling fish about 2 hours prior to our arrival. I asked our server if they could make a one time exception since we were visiting from Los Angeles. They did us the favor and served us a pescado zarandeado and wow this was amazing. Probably one of the best I've had here in California. This pescado was I definitely would recommend this place.
