Great store, very knowledgeable staff. Just be careful: the last couple times I shopped there, the card reader in at least one of the two lanes doesn't show total purchase price before you tap your card. The first time, I had to ask what my total was. Tonight, I bought 4 BOGO bottles, the guy at checkout pointed me to tap my card (no total purchase price mentioned or visible). I happened to check the receipt right after and realized I was charged full price. They quickly corrected it, but pushed back a little when I said customers should be shown, clearly, the total price before tapping their card. One employee apologized, Another employee said he heard me, but the system was out of their control, they'd need to get new equipment to do that, etc. The issue seems out of place for an otherwise top quality, customer-centric establishment. read more

This is a well-stocked liquor store with a broad variety of wines, spirits, beer, cider, and other related items. I've wanted to visit this place for a while because some searches describe this location as also having "The Big Cheese Company." Apparently that is largely a thing of the past. There is a domed cheese counter that is now used for fairly empty display, with a lot of storage behind it. A neon sign overhead still says BIG CHEESE. There is a nearby end cap fridge that has numerous cheeses, but other than the potted Stilton (which I was excited to find), the rest are fairly common grocery store cheeses locally. There is also smaller fridge near the registers with a few of the same cheeses. There are also numerous crackers, nuts, and other sides. In addition to the Stilton and a tin of pecan pralines, I found a few new ciders to try. My husband acquired a number of new beers as well, and we even tried beer from a local brewery there doing a tasting. Really nice folks! read more

I went in the store to pick up some n/a beer. It was blocked by a delivery of wine. Manager and assistant just looked at me and didn't bother helping move the boxes so I could access the n/a, just stood there looking. Well I'll give my business to different liquor stores that have a CLUE on customer service!!! read more

In a very new looking building with parking but old inside. Very dark interior, not the cleanest lobby . Nice helpful staff; can't believe box wine has gone up so much since 2022."Franzia"now $17.99 per box much cheaper at Total Wine $14.49 and $15.99. Highland Park location easy access. read more

St Paul locals suggested we check out this place for wine and spirits. We did and it turned out to be a good find for us. Super excellent wine selections from all over the world. They also have a locked closet devoted to their high end wine and champagne selections. Someone has very refined tastes. Beer selection is underwhelming but touches all the bases. We actually came for spirits. Although their supply is limited, the array of choices was deep. The more I looked the more I appreciated what they were trying to do. We left with a hard to find, for us in Ohio, Angels Envy, a Woodford Reserve that was on sale, and a couple other things to fill out our half-case. Excellent customer service. The other reviews on here did give me pause, but I'm glad that they didn't dissuade me. First off, it's not an all encompassing spot and there will likely be items you can't find. But, I've been able to grab a few scotch bottles that I've had trouble locating in the Twin Cities. And to me that is worth its weight in gold. Will definitely be back. read more

Horrible customer service. I have never had a good experience with the people working here. I live in the neighborhood and have been approached twice by an older man who works there that acted annoyed when I didn't want his help. Today after I said "no thanks" he told me that I should "take his advice so that I know how to drink good wine someday" and then walked away. Very rude and condescending. I am in my 40s and lived near wine country for many years. While not a sommelier, I know my wine. Even though I live nearby, I won't be back. read more

I used to come here often it was fine until my partner was racially profiled.. followed around the entire store. a woman working was pretending to be working on something on the next shelf, and kept looking over her shoulder. Getting to check out the cashier approved the id then another worker came over to "double check" for some reason. absolutely insane, and I'm very disappointed in the way multiple workers were acting and treating my partner. read more

Haskell's does not care about customers or customer service. They do not reply to emails or return phone calls. I have left several messages in the past few days and still await a resolution to my issue. Purchased one of the promotions from a TV program and got home with it and two of the bottles of the wine were not what was in the promotion. I was informed by the store where it was purchased that they ran out but YET, it still shows in the inventory in several of their stores. I should have checked the box before leaving the store but trusted them enough to sell what they advertise. I was also told that it was posted that substitutions will be made and that is NOT true. I will not frequent this store again other than to return a purchase that was not as advertised and no effort was made by Haskell's to make it right. There are better places to shop for wine and spirits out there. read more

We had about 8 Haskell's employees working that day, and I was not aware of this situation. I'm not sure who from Haskell's you interacted with, but I apologize on behalf on Haskell's for the way you and your guest were treated-- absolutely unacceptable and appalling behavior on our part. Your guest should have been made to feel welcomed and appreciated, and I can't apologize enough that she was made to feel otherwise. It may have been a busy day for the staff on board, but the guests come first, and I think they lost sight of that. Just wanted to spread positive vibes to this local liquor shop in my area. I've always felt comfortable shopping there and attended to when I had questions. Their clerks are friendly and I appreciate their diversity of staff. I don't feel condescended to when they interact with me as I've experienced elsewhere. They have wider selections for all kinds of booze and - much better deals hands down - way lower prices than their competitors nearby. I regret when I do not make it to Haskell's and end up going elsewhere to grab something last minute. Plus, they have an amazing meat/ cheese/cracker selection. Super convenient for dinner parties! Haskells wine and liquor on Ford Parkway in Highland village is a great neighborhood store. A large selection of every type of wine you can think of. I always thought Haskells prices would be more expensive than other stores but their not. Prices range from inexpensive to reasonable to as much as you want to spend. The store has character with nooks and crannies to explore for goodies. It's fun to look around. There is a wonderful deli in the back. A nice selection of cheeses, meats, pates. Plus jams, dips, salsas and chips. Everything you need for the party. Plus they have bulk olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Friendly staff, easy parking, fun place to shop. read more

Moreover, and most important to me, this store will get ALL MY BEER MONEY because Haskell's is practicing safe Public Health recommendations during this epidemic!! Great selection of higher end liquors, but at a high cost. There are brands which I had given up on finding in Minnesota which they carry, but to get them you must pay a rather high premium. Most products at Haskell's run 10% to 25% above the average in the metropolitan area. Brands which they sell exclusively are even worse and I have seen some bottles sell for double (literally) what they cost in other states. If there is a specific brand you are after and you cannot find it anywhere then give them a try, but call them and ask for the price before you travel to the store or you may be in for a rather severe shock. read more

This spot is pretty hit or miss for me. On one day I might go in, multiple people are asking me if I can be helped, workers are making suggestions based on my needs and likes, and someone might even offer to carry my bag to the car. And that's on a busy day! Then there are days like today where I am one of two customers in the whole place, nobody is around to be helpful, I'm overcharged on a sale item (unfortunately I didn't notice until I got home), and I'm left to flounder with a bag of five bottles in one arm while I attempt to maneuver the cart back from where I got it with the other. Wow. Really? Still, they have a great variety on EVERYTHING. I can always find something new and interesting in the wines or the hard liquors, their cheese is usually high quality, and they are pretty much the only people who carry Crabbie's ginger beer (the alcoholic ginger beer that was first used in the original Moscow Mule). read more

This is the best place in the twin cities to go for great wines. Their knowledgeable staff can help you pair a wine with whatever is on the menu. Just ask for Brent or Andy. If you are looking for help and an older fellow named Mike tries to help you, just nod, and then find someone else. Also, whatever you do, you must go to the nickel sale in the spring. Buy one, get one for a nickel. Wine for a nickel, life doesn't get any better than that! I love this place. When I first moved here it took me a while to find Wexford Irish Cream Ale and they carry it. Their selection of beer and wine isn't just extensive, it's good to boot. There's a younger guy that works here with thick-framed glasses and he is always very helpful and knowledgeable. (I can't remember his name, but he's often there). They were really great about helping me put together a wine basket at Christmas. read more

Go elsewhere. The last few times I've bought craft beer here, it has tasted old. They must not turn over enough of it to keep a fresh supply on hand. I've also found their staff to be less than helpful when purchasing wine. Rather than offering to help, they'll just point you to the other side of the store to go and look for yourself. Really? With the choices out there, do you really want to be known for that level of service? Choose Falls Liquor or Elevated Spirits just across the river if you want better quality beer and genuine customer service. read more

My liquor store of choice in the ford parkway area. They have a selection which is very good in comparison to nearby stores (international wines and spirits is so small and cramped its hard to find much of anything) and the guys working there are always really friendly! This one guy in his 20's is especially nice and will joke around with you if you are friendly. He even helped my buddies and I get totally equipped for our liquor chess tournament (you swap out the pieces for mini bottles of booze and shot glasses filled with beer for pawns). This was my dad's liquor store. And when I lived in the Village I tried it a few times, and never felt welcome. Its way more a wine store than a beer or liquor store, and I am not a big wine person. But I'd stop in from time to time for a six pack or to get a bottle of wine to bring to a dinner. I always was treated like a punk. I had a few strikes against me back then - not visibly wealthy, young looking and buying less expensive stuff. I moved away from the Village for a few years, and now that I am back I've hit Haskell's when I am in a hurry and its on the way, and always have regretted it. If your shopping for wine, do yourself a favor and go to the Wine Thief. Good selection of inexpensive wine, and the staff at the Wine Thief actually treat you like a human being. Not some clearly uneducated schmuck who does not know red wine from ketchup. I'll only go back here if I have to. If I have the time, I'll go further down the street or to another area of town entirely. read more
