We'll be regulars for the $5 men's cuts on Tuesday and Wednesday from now on. By the way, while your kid or significant other is getting a cut at HBS, tool around the cool main street area and grab a bight and/or beer at the several cool restaurants/pubs. Busted Nut is a great choice for a Rubin and IPA. The funky ceiling fan contraption is worth the visit. read more

The interaction of Jesse the instructor with the student Hannah and with me the client was great. He was very patient with Hannah and she was very open to his instructions. And he was very good with asking me if I was feeling comfortable with the process. I have been to the beauty school several times. I even wrote a really nice reviews a few years ago. Last month I went in to get my hair trimmed. It had been quite a long time. My hair was down to my pants. I asked to have it trimmed straight across. For some reason everyone needs to trim the bottom up. It seems to make my hair really thin when it grows out. We decided to trim 6 inches off or just below my shoulder Blade. It looked like 4-6 inches. She started to do the cutting u on my ends. I mentioned to her "what do you call it when you just call straight?" She stopped cutting. So now I have part not done. She didn't know how to cut my bangs so she really didn't. And for some reason instead of 6 inches Emmy cut off more like 12 inches. I went in to tell theme all they can do is take more off. Sorry it's screwed up enough. I done. I really would like my money back. I guess I don't suggest going to the school. read more

I called this beauty school, several times, months ago with no response. I called cause I was looking for a simple all over color. My normal stylist was away, didn't want to do it myself, so thought I'd try this place. Both times I called, I got a voicemail(It was during their business hours). I left voicemails both times. One with just my name and #. No call back, so thought "maybe they want more info" next voicemail left my personal info, what service I was looking for...nothing. How can a business/school not even call people back? Are they just practicing on each other or friends? Maybe they didn't like my name...who knows. Regardless, I'd never recommend this school for learning or services based on no follow through. read more

I love being able to stretch my budget there on colors, conditioning treatments, waxes etc. I just wish the HBS was open on Saturdays. Also I would like to see the students not gab so much when there is down time. Sweep, pick up dirty foils off the floor, do some towels...be self starters. My other gripe I guess would be that some of the students smoke and wreak of it when being in your personal space for facials etc. That is kind of a drag...no pun intended. read more

I rarely if ever write reviews for schools because I work in this industry as an advisor, and I've done business with the owner of Hastings Beauty School. However, this school has something special to offer those students who feel most comfortable in an intimate class environment with only 12 students for every instructor. It's certainly not for everyone, but if you thrive on more individual attention, this school may be a good choice for you. read more
