I found Hatch Homes by doing a Google search and found that they have experience with Hardie Board which we were hoping to use. We had a major exterior renovation completed by Hatch Homes. One of the things that helped us with the selection was the relationship development led by Bill Gayler. Besides our exterior walls, Bill and his team designed a half-wall with cedar board complimented with new Anderson windows. The new design allowed us to create a relaxing sunroom that overlooks our new landscaped garden. Oh, did I tell you that we were presented with a computer-generated design with the ability to edit? This made it very easy for me to understand and "see" the project. In addition to the Hardy board installation, Bill and his team created a new exterior entry to a breezeway reading room was stunning-----now with the new hardscape, it IS STUNNING and really shows how Bill understood the vision we had. After the dust settled, Bill maintained an open communication with us. And this has proven valuable. Anytime you have a large project like this, you will encounter punch-list items. So many people have had challenges after a project is done. Not with Hatch Homes. Bill informed me that his Project Manager Patrick O. would be in contact. My meeting with Patrick was truly a blessing. Not only did he agree with the issues that I needed some correction due to items shifting, he also eyed some minor finds that will be corrected. There was nothing that Hatch Homes did not take ownership----and their goal is quite simple: Keep the Wow Factor. Patrick really impressed me. He is licensed in the electrical, plumbing, HVAC trade and maintains certification in many other disciplines. When you invest in a vendor who will create the dream home renovation, you want to make sure your dollars are well-spent and the end-result is what you expected. We are proud to say that we continue to get more than expected. In my opinion, the Follow-Up/Punch-List phase really differentiates those who are dedicated to their craftsmanship and take care of their customers. In the 10+ months this company has been working on our home, I have come to the conclusion that Hatch Homes should be avoided at all cost. I do not trust the work they have done, so I provided a James Hardie rep sketches/photos of the flashing and siding that Bill, the owner of Hatch, provided us to demonstrate what exactly they had done. We also hired an inspector. Both the inspector and James Hardie indicated that the way in which our flashing was installed does not abide by James Hardie standards. The whole reason we chose this company was because they are James Hardie approved. Beside the technical issues, we also have a very poorly painted home. They have come out to paint four times and have agreed that it's still splotchy and needs to be fixed. Our original pm bragged about being promoted and then was fired a few months later. A crew that worked on our home was fired. The owner Bill has made all sorts of promises and they've all fallen flat. I do not trust this company. I would never suggest working with them unless you want to deal with a 10+ month headache. The only pleasant part was the consultation. The woman was incredibly professional, which made us feel really at ease with the decision to hire them. But I guess that's what they do: they get you in the door and then leave you with a house that looks worse and demand payment with the threat of interest when you're home isn't even done (and they've agreed it's not done). read more
