Similar to Mizzy P. and Geoff M. This place is a scam. I paid $18 dollars to the attendant. I counted. When I gave her the money I walked away. Lo and behold at my pump I was only $17 dollars! This place is a blatant rip off. The ripoff actually made the gas much more expensive. I wasted the 10 minutes it took to drive there. I could have gone to my local gas station and I'm paid the same price. Never been ripped off by a gas station before. read more

Be careful when u visit this gas station. PLEASE COUNT YOUR MONEY BEFORE GIVING IT TO THE CLERK BECAUSE THERE POCKETING PEOPLES MONEY WHEN THEY THINK YOU HAVENT COUNTED IT. I had a bad experience here with one of the cashiers here. I gave the clerk $30 with 2-$5 bills and a $20 dollar bill. I told her I wanted $30 on pump six. I go to pump my gas and it only goes up to $25. I walked back and asked her why did it stop at $25 and she had the nerve to tell me I only gave her that much when I clearly knew how much I gave her. I also had my aunt with me who was right there with me when I gave her the money. This just made me open my eyes to how some some of these gas stations are scamming people. read more

I used to go to Hatsoff when I first moved to the city from northern VT. Loved the cheap gas but was a bit timid and felt a bit unsafe in the hood. Strange place, cash only, lotto, and generic "tonic" machines. read more

This gas station is basically an advanced level driving test. You weave your way through so many cars and truck and people just to get to the pump. Awhile ago, they attempted to streamline the traffic by posting large and bright "enter here" and "do not enter" stickers/signs near the pumps, but I am pretty sure no one pays attention to them. It's cash only and the cashiers are always really nice/as nice as they can be during a short interaction. Be sure to say "thank you". It's cheap gas and if you are lucky enough to get there during a lull in business, it's easy and great. read more

Be careful. Yesterday I paid the cashier for $20 of gas on pump 7. It didn't give me any gas. When I went back to the cashier he claimed I'd said pump 8. Which I hadn't. When I asked for him to credit the $20 to pump 7 he said it was too late; the guy at 8 had already put it in his tank. When I turned around there was no one at pump 8. I won't go back. Scam alert! I just had $5 stolen from me by the clerk at this scummy enterprise. I gave this theif masquerading as a clerk $9 cash for pump 5. When I walked to the pump, only $4 had been credited. I confronted the theif about the discrepancy, but he refused to credit me $5. I called the number for this "business" and was told my information would be passed on to the "manager." I have never in my life experienced such brazen theft and disregard for customers. Jamaica Plain will be well served when the crooks running this racket are run out of town. Do not give these criminals your hard-earned cash. Do not let the low prices fool you. This is a criminal enterprise. read more

"Gas is gas," says the sign. While that may be true, I'm not sure the sludge they sell there qualifies. Never have any of my cars run so badly as after I fill up on their gasoline. I'm not even sure there's any difference in octane grades. I'd wager it's all one big thank with several pipes leading from it. Let's be honest, we all come here for the gas that is probably the cheapest in the city not the cultural center that it appears to be. It's cash only so don't be that guy, please! The attendant is as nice as somebody can be behind bulletproof glass and the pumps are older than I am but if they upgraded anything they'd have to charge more for gas and I don't think anybody would go here if they had normal prices. On 10/26/2018 at about 9:40 pm I went to get some gas. I paid $10 cash and went as usual to pump with regular. However, for some reason the Super button lit up and I didn't notice a few seconds into already having pumped some gas. I then went to the cashier and told him the issue. I asked him how could the issue be fixed and he told me there is nothing he could do about it. I reiterated that there was an issue with Pump 6 and that it was not my fault. I'm not sure what privileges he has in refunding as the cashier but he did tell me that with whatever is leftover from what I had initially paid, he would send it to another pump (pump 3). I then went to this new pump , selected the Regular button and no issues surfaced. I am posting this as there should be a WAY better protocol when technical issues like this occur. I'm not sure if the cashier was a manager or a general associate but if not a manager there should be one on call (even if not on site) to resolve these issues. read more

This has always been the cheapest gas that I have know. I lived in J.P. since 1978 and used this place as the go to place for gas. The only downer is that it is CASH only. The pumps are slow but, it's open late and you can always get a pump in less than a minute or so. Great operation. Friendly people at the service window. Not 5*'s because of the no credit card deal. read more

I was an employee at Hatoff's at one time. Use to deliver heating oil and maintain oil burners and HVAC when Hatoff's did that line of work. I also performed small maintenance on the property. RIP Stan Hatoff you generous and easy going guy. I don't go to Hatoff's much these days but when I do the prices are yes still cheap. I wonder if cans of soda still cost only 50 cents. For some people it might seem like a scary area but overall it is safe. Those old gasoline pumps I remember the times when they had to be rebuilt and rebuilt and rebuilt. The underground tanks are solid the last I knew. Hatoff's was one of the best places of employment I ever worked at. read more

So yea maybe some of the people that work or hang here are creepy..but their gas is always one of the cheapest in town & their backwoods & cigs are cheap to. The gas never messed my car up or made it drive funny so that's a plus..the guys working their always drool over a pretty girl so I don;t feel too uncomfortable since they all know me..plus the place is a 2 minute walk from my house =) read more
