Great store, but whoever made the decision that the doors must be kept open at all times--even when it's 106 degrees outside--is really stupid. We would have spent a lot more time browsing through their plentiful collection if the air conditioning had been allowed to stay inside and cool the store instead of battling with the heat outside and losing! Fortunately the salesperson, after apologizing that they are required to keep the doors open, was very helpful and found us what we wanted quickly, so we could get out and go somewhere else that knows how to use an air conditioner. I guess someone in charge doesn't trust that potential customers are capable of using a door. What is the world coming to? read more

Very nice selection for hats. They have novelty hats too. They have a huge variety of styles and shapes of hats. I got one for my husband it was only 25 dollars for a straw hat with a band around it very nice. Our sales person was very friendly and helpful. It was a place were you can spend good quality time I loved the Viking hats that was fun. If you come to Palm Springs you definitely need a HAT to protect you from the HOT heat. read more

Went here to find a nice sun hat and must've gone through 20 different hats before finally finding the one!!! Or well technically my sister helped me find the perfect hat, but the staff was super patient as we searched for at least 30 minutes. Luckily there was a selection! My mom even bought three hats for herself cause the prices were pretty good. Amidst sweltering heat this past Coachella weekend I needed a functional, yet fashionable hat to protect me all day. And boy, did I come to an oasis named the the Desert Hatter. Had a great time in this store. The employee was kind enough to let my friend and I try on fun hats and actually take photos. I've noticed that sadly some stores have very strict no photo policies. Being on vacation from Washington state I enjoyed sharing our goofiness with people who couldn't be there and will have those photos to look back on and remember how much fun we had. I did end up buying an amazing fedora (that I hadn't planned on buying). Their prices were very reasonable so I really couldn't resist when I fell in love with the sexy fun fedora. First let me say we bought a great hat for my husband today and the store had a great selection. The two stars are for the crappy service. The staff was absolutely uninterested in the fact that we were there trying to find the perfect hat for an event. We were there trying on hats and looking for sizes for 20 to 30 minutes and during this time at least a dozen other people entered the store un-greeted and left with out being helped. 1-23-18 THE ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! We arrived at the shop at approximately 9:20 pm. The shopgirl did not even greet us, as we walked directly in front of her. We proceeded to try on hats, looking for the right one. I approached the female employee and asked her, the correct way to make sure the hat is the right size? She replied, I don't know, I don't wear hats! WOW! How desperate this company must have been to hire someone, with absolutely no customer service and a total unawareness of the product they sell, HATS! We continued looking and trying on. There were a group of Asian people in the store also, all of a sudden the music started getting louder and louder, all the customers that were shopping all left. Then there was a lot of slamming cupboards and doors. My friend asked her if she was getting ready to close for the night, she said no, I close at 11 pm, it was now 9:55 pm. The employee said, I want to eat! My friend said, ok so eat then. I CAN'T EAT WHEN PEOPLE ARE IN THE STORE! We look at each other, shocked, my friend says to her, so you want us to leave? YES. I walk over to the hat I liked, took a photo of the tag, and hat and we left the store. I called HAT'S UNLIMITED CORP. the following morning, spoke to a gentleman who said it was his family business and that he took these complaints very seriously. After me telling the story, of the rude, ignorant shopgirl who asked customers to leave the store, I asked for a discount on the hat that I liked. He said he could offer me 10% off my next purchase.( same 10% if you like them on social media) I said obviously your company doesn't care about customer service, 10%. I informed this man that I had worked in Retail Management my entire career and I have never experienced such outrageous rudeness and ignorance of the product they sold before, I then told him that I had just purchased my new hat on petergrimm.com and 1st time customers get 20% off. So go in and look and try on there, but buy online instead! Why support a chain that does not train their help??? I would have given it no stars, but in order to post, you must put 1 star! read more

What a rip off -- I was told I could return a hat I purchased as gift if the person didn't like it as long as I did it within 3 days...nope -- 2 days later returned it but unable to -- Tuesday (the manager in Ventura) was called but ended up hanging up on me telling me she wasn't going to return it and I was out of luck -- my family and friends were standing next to me in total disbelief of how I was being treated. May I suggest their other store at The River in Rancho Mirage --- took hat back - rec'd refund - NO Problem. I will shop there and suggest others do as well -- I was told Palm Springs was such a tourist town that The Desert Hatter Mgr there doesn't like tourist...OUCH!! read more

This store is toooooo much fun! And, the staff, courteous, polite and very helpful. Visiting PS for a weekend with my friend and went into Hats Unlimited to just look around. We both found a cute hat but left without purchasing. Upon returning to Vegas and showing pics of our weekend...everyone commented on the hats we had taken pics of us wearing. So, I decided to purchase. Although the hat I wanted was not shown online, I decided to call the store and purchase over the phone. Howard was so helpful and willing to get this hat sent to me. It arrived withing 2 days! So, I then decided to purchase the hat that my friend loved...so again, I called today and was helped by Nicole with the same enthusiasm to make sure I got the hat I wanted. She even gave me her phone number to send the pic of the hat to make sure I would receive the correct one! Both of these employees is a direct reflection on how great this store is to shop in!!!
