WOW this place has struck gold! Their "Hatteras style ice cream" with Italian ice on top of normal ice cream unlocks a whole new flavor combo! I got the Snickerdoodle and my wife got the cookie dough ice cream with King Cake Sno Ball and we were both moaning over how good it was! The lady running it is apparently the new owner and her love for the business was obvious. She was excited to tell us all about it and was very kind! You can just get one of their many normal ice cream flavors if you want, but trust me, try it Hatteras style. read more

This is our favorite spot in the area for a sweet treat. The strawberry ice cream is good. The staff is friendly and always greets us with a smile. They are very quick with orders. There isn't really a place to sit, so we always take it home to finish. read more

Not sure of the exact name of this sno-ball stand, or even its exact address. It's on the east side of Rt 12, just north of the go-kart/mini-golf place. The big sign says "Hatteras Island Sno-Cone." But that is false advertising. What they have is way better than a sno-cone. It's real, Hawaiian-style shave ice. So the ice cream flavors are just mainland choices (no macadamia nut, my favorite in shave ice), but the syrups are high-quality, there are tons of flavor choices, and best of all, the ice part is really shaved, not crystallized, to an absolutely perfect consistency. I haven't had shave ice this good outside of Hawaii. Added plus - the owner is super-friendly. She lifted my son through the window so he could check out the shave ice machine and add his own syrup. Minor minus - bring bug spray in the evening. And wipes for the kids' faces... Cookie Dough on the bottom is a staple for me, but the shave ice flavors are plentiful so I like to give something new a spin every time I come. For sno-balls you can ask for two flavors per item, which allows you to explore more options. All flavors were available in sugar-free. They have plenty of parking compared to other places, they say they're opened from 1-9pm but we showed up at 8:57pm and they took our order as well as the car loads of people coming in after us... Probably didn't end up closing until 9:30pm. For being a small place on an island I was pleasantly surprised that they accepted credit cards, and not cash only. read more

We each ordered one, telling the owner how enthusiastic we were about getting shave ice, and how we wanted to try it with Hawaiian-style flavors. Stopped here after watching a wonderful Sunset with my Girl, its right off the side of the road so slow down or you might miss it, we were here in the off season and it was not to busy. Flavors were really yummy and prices were fair, Parking can be a challenge if its busy because its off to the side of the road and thiers a large tree near the establishment that blocks you in. This place is wonderful! We stumbled across it on Apple Maps when looking for stuff in the area, and I'm so glad we did. Margie is such a wonderful woman!! My other half is currently on the Keto Diet and sugar free treats are super hard to find. Hatteras SnoBall makes every single flavor they have in sugar free too!! (And the menu has LOTS of flavors!!) they are SO tasty, we go 2 times a day. Margie even saw us coming ahead of time and had her sugar free order ready at the window! How amazing is that? She probably sees hundreds of folks a day and yet she remembered my spouses favorite shaved ice and had it ready. I stayed down the road from this haus of delicacies for a week and went twice. I got a medium mango shaved ice, and then a small half-banana, half-piña colada shaved ice. The piña was drowned out by the hearty banana, but I highly recommend the mango and banana flavors. I personally had no problems spilling my shaved ice and couldn't finish the medium. The service was friendly, and the seats in the establishment allowed for E-Z and comfortable consumption of said ice. A lovely location with great shaved ice, Hatteras Sno-Balls provided my favorite nourishment while at the beach. read more
