To my surprise, one of the best gift shops I've seen on any island. Not fancy, and a strange mix…read more There's a surprisingly great selection of books about Hawaii, both limited print no -fiction and also a large rack of really nice kids books--stories and interactive books like coloring books and search books. It's called an import store but there's also a bit of local crafts. The prices aren't inexpensive, but it's nice to support local and there's stuff you can't get anywhere else.

I wanted to buy some souvenirs and also leave some money on the island (to help them fight off the…read morecruise lines). As we browsed through the window, Imports Gift Shop - A Touch of Molokai seemed like the place. Maybe this is about as close as Molokai gets to a department store, and it's open every day from 9:00 till 5:00 pm or so, except for Sunday. Lots of bright natural sunlight inside. There are a lot of things in here, but the store is not cluttered. Clothes (dress-up and casual), shoes, housewares, jewelry, accessories, candles, Hawaiiana, arts and crafts, souvenirs and lots more. I bought a wood serving tray for my mother that looked Hawaiian with its flower pattern (she will never know it was made in China unless she reads this). Found for myself a Take It Easy - Molokai t-shirt for myself as Proof of Life. That t-shirt beat out one other with a picture of a dog that said: Molokai Dog - no fence - no leash - no problem. Very cool. The prices for things seemed reasonable and the staff (family?) were friendly. Ala Malama Avenue is pretty much the only real commercial street on the island that we saw, but we didn't go into the residential area near the airport. There are not too many stores here, but they seem to cover what you need. Didn't see a furniture store though, but there has gotta be one around somewhere. I'm sure if you lived here there are all kinds of things absent from the island. However, I saw a postcard here that said: paradise is sometimes measured by the things that are missing.

We were told the photo shoot would consist of 200-250 photos and I would receive a marraige certificate. We had to reschedule our ceremony at first due to rainy weather, then we had to work around Kiku's pottery class and told we had to do our photo shoot in the evening due to the lighting when we had preferred the morning. The ceremony and photo shoot had to occur on separate days because they refused to do it in the morning. We had to drive 45 min. two days in a row. The ceremony went very well, many photos were taken. During the family photo shoot, the same thing, we spent over an hour taking photos and after we were told that 200 photos were taken, we ended the photo shoot. I was told that I would receive the disc in two weeks. Nine weeks later I was told that Kiku was "still working on it". I didn't understand why it took so long to burn photos on a CD. Not to mention that we had to pay in full BEFORE we met with them, and based our decision to do so on trust. I had to follow up continually as to the status of my disc. I was lied to and told one was mailed but no proof of shipping was provided and the date stamp on the photos was after the first disc was supposedly mailed. When I finally received the disc I was shocked that many of the photos taken were not on it! Not one photo of our exchanging our vows, not one photo of our family together during the ceremony, and only two photos of us together at the "photo shoot". Hundreds of photos were taken and specific poses that my husband and I remembered were not on the disc. After the photo shoot ended and Kiku said she had taken over 200 photos, Kiku took some action shots of my boys playing in the ocean. These were included on the disc but there were unfocused, gritty, and blurry. Later I was told that this was the case because she used a wide angle lense. When I first received the disc and was in utter shock that after waiting for 11 weeks I did not receive what I paid for, I immediately contacted them. I was told that I should have received a second disc and 201 photos were taken. I had some sense of relief. But then I received a call the next day from Kiku. She called me at 9 am Hawaii time and was very angry that she had been "thrown into the situation" and she "had a headache' over it. It was too early to speak with me about it so she had to call me back. She later apologized and admitted to deleting some of the photos, She had assumed I had been sent the photos by Kevin. She offered a refund which was a nice gesture but more importantly, I was wanting the photos of my family during this special event, not money! I was told a second disc would be coming, when it arrived it was the exact same as the first disc! At that point I agreed to accept the refund and now she is rescinding it. Even worse, I am receiving unprofessional emails from them that we were unprepared and our children should not have been playing in the ocean on their vacation in the middle of summer! It was only until after the photo shoot was completed that they started to play in the ocean. Furthermore, when I asked for the marraige certifcate we were told it would cost extra. I have never in my life experienced such unprofessional service. I waited 11 weeks for my disc, received only 52 photos of the 250 promised, and at that there was not one good family photo of all four of us. I will never get to celebrate my ten year anniversary again. I hope this experience can save someone else the aggravation we have had to experience. Especially if you have kids, be careful, many derogatory comments have been made about my two boys because they were so "dificult" yet Kiku advertised herself as working very well with children. She was nice at the time but the emails she has sent us are shocking! I have a 4 and 7 year old and they behaved very well, they were excited to see the ocean on their vacation and they waited until after the photo shoot ended to play in it. All I have received are insulting remarks from the both of them and refusing to take accountability for their poor service. How they can take money after deleting photos taken and sending damaged and an incomplete product 11 weeks later is totally beyond me!

The attention to detail, sense of urgency, the care for the bride was all spot on. They really do take the stress out of your special day so you can enjoy the beauty of Hawaii. For us specifically, we had family members coming from multiple places and I caught a fever. Thankfully, the Idowedding team hand held us through the entire process from advising which hotel to stay at and what's popular to eat. Their care allows you to stress less. It did not feel like we were going through a cookie cutter machine but rather they viewed us as a project to succeed on which makes all the difference in customer experience. Five stars from me as they really impressed me with their personal touch on our once in a lifetime day.

It was helpful during the intake because they ask specific questions to narrow down your search and give you a very easy list of the options for what you are looking for. I do think it would have been a smoother process in the beginning if there was regular communication from the very getgo but it was a little slow as I'm sure they had to prioritize the weddings that were more upcoming. However when it came time closer to our wedding they were definitely very involved in trying to get all details lined up. I had some anxiety with the wedding and whole planning process especially with the weather conditions but there was consistent and constant communication leading up and their advice and suggestions/expertise really helped in making decisions. The day itself was difficult as it was really downpouring right up until the ceremony began but seeing the staff and Cindy and Jessica work so hard for all things to come together was really wonderful and you can tell they really worked hard to make everything come together. Planning a destination is not easy at all and as much of a difficulty it is making decisions, having this team really made it so much easier and you can feel like you can leave it up to them to get everything completed. There were a few hiccups with some items of course that you can expect with all weddings for sure but it was still such an amazing and easy experience that you don't even care about the things that didn't go fully right and just remember the amazing time and the whole wedding that it didn't feel there were any regrets at all. Cindy especially was so good at responses and answering all the nitty gritty that they are such a great team and Jessica really tries to take on the stresses for you so that you're not stressed as the bride. I would recommend if you're looking for a wedding planner as they have a lot encompassing to offer and my wedding turned out absolutely beautiful! Thank you Ido team and Jessica and Cindy especially!!!
